Jack cooks food that is literally unsanitary (raw chicken, 18 month old brisket, etc) and tells people it's cooked perfectly saying the pink is okay, has 0 honesty for if his dish is good or not, in his chili contest at church blamed others for cheating because he didn't win with that atrocity (with the rancid brisket that he served to his church group...)
Kay's a sweet ol' honest woman trying her little hardest. However, you know for somebody who can upload a video to UA-cam, she sure has a hard time looking up a recipe on UA-cam.

Fries are the only thing Kay did properly but still somehow ruined when she topped her meatballs 😭 and they genuinely looked like brains can't unsee them
Yep. When I first saw her video, I got a little nauseated. I have to say though, she did make one thing that looked good. I don't remember what it was but she used packet brown gravy so I tried it, obviously tweaking a few things.
she is constantly trolling us and actually deserves an oscar as an outstanding actress. No one can have a cooking channel for so many years, but yet still not be able to cook even the simplest dish. she is oscar material.
2 mins in and we see the true Magic of Kay's Cooking - the ability to revert James back into a busy Kitchen service where the pressures on the line lead to no filter in the language!

If you've ever been in a kitchen during service... you know that this is extremely filtered language. Chefs easily rival sailors in that regard.
I'm guessing she didn't want to overwork the meat, but if my understanding is correct, that's more of a concern with burgers than meatballs (which should be kind of consolidated).
Either way, agree with you about Kay. I'm betting she's a lovely human. I'd love to drink a beer with her, so long as it isn't served with anything out of her kitchen.

A cooking collaboration between you and Kay would be nice. She's such a lovely and wholesome person, and she clearly enjoys cooking, but she either trusts the wrong recipes or she's a bit on the impatient side when it comes to instructions. Possibly both.
I do like Kay, though. As I said, she's a lovely person, an absolute dear. She may have her issues in the kitchen, but I can't help but enjoy watching her try to make something. Her enthusiasm is heartwarming.🥰
She's also so charming in her videos. Like damn, I know she's doing everything wrong, but I can't be upset at her for it.

Personally i think she know how to cook and this is for show its no way be that bad at cooking when you "cook" for years you will learn something by accident eventually. Also most of "defy" basic logic that has nothing to do with cooking aka you see and smell when food is burning and you should not continue and create coal in oven.

She may know enough to know when she is out of her depth or when something doesn’t turn out right, but she also is oblivious on how badly she flubs up or the steps to take to not flub up again. Also, when you pointed out the stove top fryer, I noticed how close the corner of the plastic container the meat was in was to the fryer. Sure enough, later, the packaging was melted on the corner.

The "IKEA meatballs" are pretty much THE Swedish dish. If you try something Swedish that isn't a dessert, it has to be köttbullar.
At least kay is a joy to watch, funny, sometimes her recipes just...well .. Don't come out. But she enjoys cooking. Jack is the opposite in every way... Jack should be watching your videos too actually learn how to do a proper cooking show. I watch the others for humor. I watch yours because I actually learn. And sometimes, just sometimes you can see you want to say something but your professionalism gets the better of you. Note you and Roger videos are just gold!!!! Well done James your awesome!

I always pay the advert troll for entry to your videos out of respect for you. Normally, I curse if is 5 minutes of ads, but today I was happy because it delayed the onslaught to my senses of seeing eggy elephant balls. I do think she plays to the camera and does so much better when no camera is recording. I'm not sure if you should do the colab or Jack. I could see a romance blossoming if those two met. But like you, I think Kay is a character and would be an amusing, likeable person in the office or pub

Thank you Chef James. I've been having trouble with my diet lately and this video has caused me to put half of my dinner in the fridge for later. This inspired me to try the Jack/Kay diet, watching their videos while I eat to suppress my appetite.
never understood people who go and hate on Kay. She never claims to be able to cook and she is just doing what she enjoys. Not sure if she knows how to though lol, I can see her actually being able to and putting it on for the camera but I can also see her genuinely not being able to lol. And we also only get to see snippets of her life, so chill out on trying to judge her entire personal life from youtube videos. It isn't like she filmed herself choking out some kittens. She cooked bad food. That's it. You want a youtube chef so bad that his food is straight up dangerous to eat? That's Jack, not Kay (at least as far as I've seen). Jack cooks and eats straight up raw burgers. Kay makes unappetizing meatballs, but they're at least safe to consume.
People are really ready to throw out the abuse accusations at the drop of a hat. Chill. She didn't beat anyone. She didn't neglect anyone. And you don't even know what they eat outside of what she's shown to cook.
The more I watch the reviews of Kay's cooking the more I think she's just doing this for viewers and it's comedy.. she seems like a sweet lady and I do like her the more I watch her I like her.

I just learned of this channel and have been binging a ton of his videos. It's very entertaining to see James react and actually give tips/insight on what to do and not do. All that being said, this is the first time I've heard him curse and be absolutely baffled by something. It was hilarious to hear and see 😂💀. It caught me completely off guard 🤣

James i agree they looked more like large spider mince paddys, a lesson keep to meat balls small well seasoned, maybe breadcrumb inside and parsley, left over mince can be frozen no need to panic and use the whole tray of mince.

I'll say something about Kay's son. When he taste's his mother's cooking, it looks painful, but he always hides it the best he can and he always finds something nice to say. He is a nice guy and a good son. 🙂
I made some meatballs that were the dogs bollocks. To speed up cooking my onions for the sauce, before frying them I put some water in the pot with a couple of whole garlic cloves. When the water was evaporated I took out the softened cloves, peeled and made them into a paste that went into my pork and beef meatballs along with other seasoning. Some of the best meatballs ever.
On the plus side the chips looked quite nice, although they were probably cold by the time the lumps of bland dry minced beef were finished with.

I'd be adding herbs and maybe diced onions when making meatballs, if I was doing an egg wash on them, I would probably lightly coat them in egg, instead of drenching them like this and roll it in some Panko Bread Crumbs which also has dried herbs and garlic powder mixed in.
We are enjoying more, when you react to UR reacting to this as he makes subtitles, when they speak, but we enjoy doing it with you.
Jack never improves because he’s somehow convinced he nailed it every time despite ample evidence to the contrary.

I like Kay because it always feels like her effort and enthusiasm is genuine, even if the waay she cooks isn't always what you'd wanna eat. Genuinely a nice lady, I'm sure.
to a lesser extent, I have had the same issue with the 'juice' and I assumed it was because I used an egg as a binding agent when making burgers (I did make sure they were safe to eat). I have seen you use a mixture of milk and bread, would this be a good substitute if you are frying something like burgers?

James, this reminds me of the attempts Kay made with fried rice. It's almost like she caught a glimpse of a recipe and totally misunderstood what they meant. The ingredients for a meatball are mostly there minus maybe some breadcrumbs (and I like to mix my beef with sausage), but the technique is....well....Kay's cooking.
I don't know how practical or realistic this is, but if you were to make some videos of the dishes Kay has cooked and share them with her, I bet she would greatly improve, and her family would probably build you a pagoda or something :) It would also be really sweet, and other people would probably love learning some of the super easy dishes they know from Mom but never figured out how to make. I couldn't think of anyone better to teach this in a kind and fun way, and you always seem to add some best practice tips.

Kay is a sweet lady and has a nice brave son. She is British and for years Britain had a reputation for bland overcooked food. Bland probably came from WWII rationing because I've met lots of people from the UK who like Indian food, certainly not bland. But I wonder what Kay grew up eating. My America mother could make the most perfect Yorkshire pudding but also boiled peas to death. Mrs Beeton's famous Victorian cookbooks recommended boiling pasta an hour and a half and cooking vegetables until mush, just as my grandmother taught my mother. Generations learned to cook that way. So Kay overcooking things doesn't surprise me.

meatballs and meatloaf are pretty close to the same thing. I usually use my food processor to mix my eggs, an onion, and the binder (bread or breadcrumbs) together along with whatever seasonings Im going to use. This makes one mixture that gets incorporated into the meat. At that point you can either be very gentle in folding the mixture into the meat, or very vigorously. The first yields a meat ball/loaf that is more tender and crumbly. The second yields a ball/loaf that has more of a sausage like consistency. I have user beef, pork, and chicken or combinations thereof. They've all worked. Of course each meat or application may take a little tweaking, but the base concept is roughly the same.

What I love most about Kay's Cooking is that even though all these creators are reacting to her videos, basically shitting on her food, she still keeps coming back smiling in another video. She's either blissfully unaware, or doesn't let it get her down.
Kay’s actually quite haughty and humorless about critiques from others, and she views reactors like James as “haters.” Pretty incredulous but true.
Hi James! Would you consider a meal rescue series based on some problems in the vids you react to? For example, I think with these meatballs kay wanted them to be less wet and have more color - if your meatballs are cooked through but don't have the right color, how do you make it look more appetizing? (Not saying you can save these meatballs, but maybe correct *something* about it)

Wet meatballs are not really a thing in Sweden.
Over simplified you take ground meat, spices, bread crumbs, and mix it until it is all one meat paste.
And then you roll em into balls and just place them in a frying pan.
And then you can build a sauce around them if you like and cook them again, buy I fry them until they are crispy on the outside because I like crispy stuff.

But Kay's were basically swimming and if I made a mistake that led to that I wouldn't know how to fix it or turn it into something edible.

Hi Chef James; Another great video as usual!!!! In watching this video and Uncle Roger's "K's Fried Rice Expose" I find myself wondering if K is not doing these videos with her tongue firmly in cheek! Even in my humble beginnings, cooking (Mon saying: "John meet stove, Stove this is John - be kind!"), I was never that bad - again much to my Mom's and My Lady Catherine's surprise! Yes, I was able to boil water without burning it LOL!
I find K to be a very sweet lady who doesn't take herself too seriously and, indeed, does have a good laugh at herself - a lesson for us all, even great 2 and 3 star chefs!
I did see 2 stars once! That was My Lady Catherine slapping me on the back of my head because I ruined her scrambled eggs!

After going through some comments I´m really not sure if she´s trolling.
If she is, it´s sad, because then the food will go straight to the garbage. An intentional waste of food, especially meat, is just a shame.
And, what no one seems to have noticed, the minced meat looked bad before she even touched it. Fresh meat isn´t that greyish in colour.

Jack is steadfast on his methods being worthy enough to teach others. I think that gives him the edge between him and Kate, Kate is not acting like she has all that knowledge
