I've liked the look of the Mondial since it first debuted, this one is a fine example. This is the first video I've seen where anyone gets into the back seat! It proves that it is a credible 4-seater, at least for adults of mixed sizes.

Loved that bitch until the belt service - then I was like "why the fuck didn't I get the 3.2!"

Lovely Mondial T but you do not mention the biggest difference between the Mondial T and the Ferrari 348. The key difference is the longer wheelbase and period road tests in England said the Mondial T had much more stable on the limit handling due to that longer wheelbase compared to the 348 which was not so stable on the limit. However like you said the Mondial T drives like a modern car, period, and has a manual stick which is a plus too and power steering, but its weight hampers its performance which is just adequate for today. Major servicing and cambelts require engine out so that is costly every time that happens, and genuine Ferrari OEM parts are very expensive as is insurance which still makes this a toy for the wealthy even if you can get past the initial purchase cost.

IMO, 300bhp is still more than adequate, and you can rev it out in 2nd and 3rd without endagering your licence too much, and that is surely a real benefit of a car like this compared to a modern supercar. Of course, you could also get a not too dissimilar experience from a 981 Cayman S, which is much more modern, but still only 325bhp, yet it's common and therefore not as speecial, doesn't have four seats...and clearly isn't a Ferrari.
Personally, I'm a big fan of the Mondial T, but they have gone up significantly in price in the last couple of years, and there's no denying cost of ownership is likely to be significantly more than the likes of a Cayman, buy I think less than you may think...as long as you drive it regularly. The maintenance costs typically rise significantly wth lack of use. Btw, you don't have to drop the engine to do a belt change on a T. You do need to remove the fuel tank, but that's fairly easy. So, it's actually not that expensive. All that said, some parts are not easy to find. However, another benefit is that as a classic car it should actually be quite reasonable to insure. Of course, no matter what it's not a car that can be bought or run on a shoestring.
However, you can still get the earlier QVs and 3.2s for significantly less, and an early Mondial for significantly less again. All are also significantly cheaper to buy and easier to maintain, which makes them accessible to those with modest means, but they don't handle quite as well and don't have power steering. You still get a genuine Ferrari driving and ownership experience, and that's special...on many a sparkling wine drinker's budget.

@@nigel.w I agree the power is adequate but the engine is top endy not at all torquey which is needed for within limits roads and cities, and the build quality is not better than the then Alfa Romeo cars in period. I mention this because of the silly prices being charged for them due to that badge. The T is my favourite and the only one i would consider of the mondial series but its small trunk, high maintenance cost in parts and ancillary items that wear as ponted out by a young youtuber who bought a low mielage t and is logging his experience, very high insurance and tax and fuel consumption makes it as i said a toy for the rich and not a car an enthusiast can run on a budget. In real world driving an Alfa Romeo GTV Busso 3 litre has just as much street performance apart from top speed, is a fraction of the cost to buy, as reliable if not more so, and able to be run on a budget.
