Fantastic work! I loved this one! Creepy as all hell, and with some gorgeous action! Here's my real-time reaction, as recorded in a text document in another tab: marine helmet flood snail is my best friend love the moodiness on the shot of the beacon(?) blinking REALLY SOLID WALK CYCLE AT 2:00 3:21 is GORGEOUS also this dude’s cloak rocks CANNON SHIELD!!!!!!!! timing on the grenade at 4:34 is FLAWLESS absolutely love the use of the brute spiker, as it’s such a physical and grotesque weapon WARTHOG LASER!!!!!!! GIANT MONSTER???? GIANT MONSTER!!!!!!! dude this RULES!!!!!! man, those rocket launcher blasts look amazing, you’re VERY good at smoke OOH THE CREEPY TENTACLES ARE BACK love the steady creep of that tentacle monster, adds a LOT of tension wondering what it’s going to do and when it’s going to get the herO OH IT GOT HIM hot damn the sound design is fantastic like it’s been fantastic all the way through but this moment is REALLY working rip in peace cloak guy yeah. that was pretty sick. your directing is VERY good. love the quick but legible style of animation.
I spent several hours to crank this video out. After the 6 hour grindset I just couldn't wait any longer. It had to see the light of day (unlike the Spartan)
Just finished this one aswell, seriously idk how I didn't know about these yet. The ending was really great, I especially loved the part where the main character get's pulled into the dark, the sounds you used there actually made is kinda hard to listen to without being disgusted and even a bit disturbed, I loved this series!
This is absolutely amazing. The animation itself was smooth (Badlaxe style), while also achieving a great story, and emotions. The lack of voice acting also gives in to the horror/thriller vibe, making the animation seem more intense, but so dang good! Bravo Dank!
Mein brüder, this film of yours was absolutely astonishing. The level of mastery you have over your craft as well as the obvious level of thought and effort put forth are genuinely inspiring. Sehr schön...
No way that was so fucking sick! I loved all the bright practical effects and the nicely drawn digital ones. This was so amazing man, you've really outdone yourself once again. Also, I see I won hehehehe, the old boy got infected. It's kind of sad to see, but hey, it's in the halloween spirit. Great stuff as always Dave🙏
Thank you JJ. This animation was the biggest pain in my ass to make. I wanted to quit so many times, and so many of the bits ended up being half baked when I originally intended them to be bigger and longer in scale. (Btw I was planning on doing the opposite of whatever people voted regarding the marines fate 🗿)
Absolutely terrifying. Such a twisted ending as well 🫣 The overall production and quality is a HUGE improvement. This is your best work in terms of story telling, set/character design, sfx/vfx, animation, and overall entertainment. 👏 I look forward to your spooky films each year when October rolls our way. You did not disappoint 😈
Fantastic animation! The actions had really good impacts and practical combined with drawn effects were amazing. Your movements are so realistic, like when the cloaked marine climbs, he throws the gun first and then climbs. Little details that I would have skipped cuz of laziness. I really like the storytelling here, you first showed the audience what the sentry gun does and then later it’s shown again used against the mc by the flood. Great work as always!
Im so glad you picked up on those tiny details!!! I definitely put a lot of thought into those bits and tried to make it as cohesive of a story as possible!!!
I think this is the best thing you’ve ever made, I can’t put into words how awesome this is but thank you so much for making such an awesome and beautiful film!
I took immesnse inspiration from "MAD GOD", a horrific stopmotion experience crafted 30 years in the making by the legendary stopmotion pioneer, Phil Tippet, the man responsible for all the stopmotion elements & many other special effects shots ranging across Star Wars, Robo-Cop, Starship Troopers, Jurrasic Park, and many other independant films. Anyways though, I thought the marine escaping would be too much of a cliché, and I dont see enough bad endings where there are collosal reprocussions to failure (ex. The End of Evangelion). I tried to make the flood as bone chilling as possible & portrayed as not to be trifled with. When engaging in combat with them can be avoided, that should be the prefered route of action, as demonstrated by the cloaked marine who tried his hardest to go undetected while scavenging the depths for components to help build his Scrap Hog. There was a lot on the line to say the least 🗿
@@dankmotionsstudios5161 well I certainly think you did a very good job at what you set out to do. I can appreciate the effort you put into these things.
Amazing sequel, amazing story, amazing set design, music, animation, and sfx. Overall amazing, great storytelling and craftsmanship. Sad to see that masked marine didn’t make it out the depths alive though
Just amazing work from the custom figs to the effects and set design. A perfectly crafted story from beginning to end, it's gonna be hard to top this one.
Absolutely stunning work Dank. The story itself just perfectly complements the previous part. The lighting, set design, composition, world building, sound design, music etc… are so we’ll done. The artistry involved in creating this is on another level. Keep up the great work. Can’t wait to see what other stuff you come out with. This film gives me massive alien/aliens (1979/1986) vibes.
Thank you so very much! Tbh, Aliens is the last thing I got inspiration from. My main sources of inspiration would have to be *MAD GOD* - By Phil Tippet, one of the greatest stopmotion horror films of all time, and then a game franchise called *Little Nightmares*. Most of the music from this series was either taken straight out of * MAD GOD* or *Little Nightmares* . The songs themselves carry such a specific feel to them, and it expresses emotion in a type of way I can't fully explain. The song at the beginning for example starts off with the staccato guitar where the vibe is generally eery and without form. It was a certain kind of hopless feeling I hoped to express. Then, as the song progresses, the protagonist emerges, and and the mood of the music shifts. It still carries some sembelence of uncanny or eerie tidings, but with more weight behind it than just that. It carries hope and the dream of one day getting out. It expresses that he's living in a broken and uncontrollable world, but there is still beauty and majesty to be found in it.
@@dankmotionsstudios5161 Project turned out super amazing regardless of the time we had! Thank you for having me again! It'd be nice for us to record the whole process and do a behind the scene video next time
@@dankmotionsstudios5161 In my head I thought that maybe it was some creature that lives in those caves but got infected. (kinda like the gutas from reach... just... infected and obviously some different creature)
HOLY SHOT MAN, this is beautiful to the last frame, love everything the lighting is perfect and vfx sick, the good ending is my head cannon now🗿also was wondering what did you use for the red beam?
Thanks so much man! Im so glad you enjoyed it! The laser beam was a lightsaber I used lol. I turned all the lights off on my set and cranked the Shudder & ISO up on the camera for those shots to really make the colors pop out
You know those lego cape pieces that come on lego mini figures? It was one of those skinny ones wrapped around his head and then a normal sized cape for his back. They were overlapped on top of eachother so it looked like they were connected as one piece

Sad, but some amazing work. You are probably the only animator that portrays the flood as truly terrifying. Great ending to the series.
