Hallelujah! Finally a tutorial that addresses naturally hooded eyes AND mature skin! My husband complemented my makeup today after using your tips. Thank you!
I just have to say that your old way of doing your eyes really made them look bigger. To me, gorgeous. The new way is a great natural look, a great look for daytime, the office, grocery store, whatever. Other times, especially for a night out, that dramatic, big eye look is gorgeous.
Thanks Ronda...yes bigger but not lifted like the other one. If I don't put so dark on the lower lash it would look better I think...well and blend LOL
@@GracefulBeautyWithSheri they both look very good. I'm now 49 and have had to go through make up changes also. My suggestion would be especially if you like makeup like I do... go ahead and wear the darker eye shadow. As for me I changed a few things when I realized that I couldn't wear makeup like I used to. 1st no eyeliner at the bottom it brings your eyes down a lot even more if they are already or and small
I like the darker makeup! Even for daytime! I tried cutting back for a more natural look and everyone said I looked tired. What can I say...80's girl here...lol!
You’re so right about heavy makeup as one grows older. I used to do wedding makeup and special occasions. Applying heavy makeup only brings out all the unwanted wrinkles one doesn’t want to draw attention to. Lighter makeup applied as you have demonstrated, definitely gives one a more youthful and pretty appearance. I’m sure there’s many ladies that will agree. The aim is to look classy with a much softer look. I enjoyed watching your video 😄
Wow, I can see a big difference. I quit wearing makeup because the "old" way didn't look good anymore. You have inspired me. I am going to go buy some new makeup and try the less is more look. Thank you!
First off, you're gorgeous with or without the makeup. Secondly, both looks are okay. The "harder" look would be good for a night out. What I would change is the hard blush to a bit less. At 56, I still wear my black eyeliner, but I've toned the wing down a lot as I've gotten older. That, mascara, moisturizer, sunscreen, and a tinted lip balm/gloss are all I wear now. This was a great tutorial. Thank you for it! 🙂
Heavier side looks like a glamorous dressy night out but the natural side is best all around. You’re very pretty & don’t need much help from make up. LOL
I used to wear heavier makeuup in the 90's, every day. I stopped taking care of myself for years. I'm in my 50's now and decided I needed to start taking better care of myself. I was looking for tips using a lighter hand application and this video is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you for doing half and half to show the huge difference a lighter touch can make.
I'm so glad I found your tutorial! I've only recently started playing around with make up at the grand young age of 48 and was watching other tutorials on YT and everyone really overdoes it an oh boy now I realise I was on the wrong path! Gonna give your tutorial a go tomorrow! Thanks so much!
OMG! This is the best tutorial I've ever seen!!!!! There's about 50 new tricks I'm going to try! I wanted to get away from having heavy makeup and being 44 this is the mooooooooost helpful info I've ever seen. All in one spot! THANK YOU!
Same.,...... I'm 44 and have realized how different my skin etc is now than it was in my younger yrs I used to love doing my makeup but now my eyes are wrinkled and bags under my eyes my skin just isn't the same, I'm having a hard time accepting that I'm older lol and this whole makeup contouring etc is so pretty on younger girls but when I try it I feel like a clown and end up washing it off I never liked false lashes bcuz I couldn't put them on right and I had kiss brand and the more expensive ones and to me they are the same but I bought the magnetic ones on Amazon and I couldn't believe how easy it is put the liner on not too thick and let it dry a lil bit then put them on and it worked alot better! I just put eyeshadow and fake lashes on and I feel like it's makes a huge difference in the way I look , I think I'm having a midlife crisis with accepting my aging ........
Just followed this and loving the tip about not bringing the foundation all the way up under the eye....I've been doing this wrong and hating my under eye area with makeup lately...perfect tip!
Having reached 75 and had cataract surgery so that I can SEE what is there, I threw out all my makeup and bought all new. I have watched a ton of videos about how to do makeup for both older women and hooded eyes. I love this video as it gives me real pointers on how to look well made up, but not hard or "slutty" (too many of my friends are still doing their makeup the way they did when they were 30!), without appearing that I"m trying to look as if I were 30! Thanks so much! The blush placement issue is a question - and I have high cheekbones -- so your points are to the point. I wish I could get my daughter (47) to adopt a softer look as she is so into all the glittery eyeshadow and outrageous colors. I keep telling people: what do you want people to say? "Oh, your eyes are so pretty." or "Geez, that some great makeup."
Te Burt did you say 75?! bless your soul my friend🤝❤ I'm sure you look amazing for your age cuz for any woman to take the time to pamper themselves & buy new make is indeed a Beautiful woman! I hope at 75 I still have the ENERGY 🤗 to just put my make up on lol...Bless your soul sweety hope you're doing well after your surgery 😘🤝
Just came across your Chanel. At 52 years young I so identify with ageing gracefully. Equally I follow lots of younger YT who do the most fabulous make up. I love trying out new ideas but find it just ages me mostly. The way you do your make up now is more or less what I do. It’s been a journey though and when I look back at some of my make up from 15 years ago I actually think I look older than I do now! Have now subscribed and look forward to more of your videos! So easy to follow; keeping it real!
WOW! Your blush made a HUGE difference in how it lifted your face and made you look so much younger. Thank you for giving me great ideas on my aging eyes!
This has totally transformed the way I wear makeup. As a former model and actress I was still using the same techniques as I did in my 20's. I just thought I was looking older and there was nothing I could do about it. I didn't consider makeup techniques for aging skin. I can't believe how much younger I look now and neither can others. I am now binging all of your tutorials. You are now my "go to" channel for beauty advice. I'm not as scared of getting older now because your techniques are on point. You are such a gorgeous woman. Thank you 🙏
So nice to finally find a video where fake eyelashes are not being used ... many of us have tried and we are not able to learn how to put them on. Nice tips
The megnetic eyelashes are way easier then the glue on eyelashes. I personally don't wear fake eyelashes often. Maybe for a special occasion, but thats it. Otherwise I love to use my eyelash curler, dior eyelash primer, and lancome hypnose mascara. As they do not bother my sensitive eye's.
Thanks Jenny, fake lashes sure look pretty on people but they are not for me. I'm too lazy and don't want the hassle. I do use a lash growth serum though and that really helps.
I love the way you did your eyes! Such a great tutorial for ladies with hooded eyes. I have a hard time finding the right shade of eyeshadow for my hooded kids that don’t make me look even worse! Going to try the lighter shades. I give you a big thumbs up!
Awesome Nancy. Glad it helped. I mean I still think dark looks pretty on hooded eyes but I didn't blend it too well. LOL I always try to make my crease with a matte shadow that is at least 1 or 2 shades darker than my skin. That has helped me tremendously.
EITHER WAY, YOU LOOK STUNNING. WOMEN ARE TOO OFTEN "ON GUARD" FOR WHAT THEY ARE "SUPPOSED" TO DO. GIVE YOURSELF PERMISSION TO BE THE PERSON THAT YOU TRULY ARE.
"Thank you" doesn't even come close to expressing how grateful I am I came across this video. I finally understand why the glorious YT guru's make up tips and tricks never looked pretty on me. This video is a great eye opener for sure. I have learned a lot!
Ewa Hammes I completely agree with you. I’m still applying my makeup as I did 20-30 years ago...😞, I’m 67 now. I thought I needed to change but I didn’t know what to change/correct. And when shopping at places like Ulta or Sephora those young girls don’t offer a lot of “help” for mature skin. So I was still on my own. This video was so very helpful and I hope I can remember these tips. Oh and that lip liner segment I sure wish my older sister (she’s 69) would see it cause she’s still doing that and it looks really REALLY bad. Makes her look 10 years older.
Graceful Beauty Loved your video on mature woman, right and wrong. I’m 61 and always wore mine the way you did on the wrong side. I am learning again how to wear makeup after taking a break from it for a few yrs. I really loved this video and the tips and tricks you suggested. It makes me was to makeup my face now just because, lol. Pls keep the videos coming. Best video I have seen, thank you!!
WOW! This is the first 40+ tutorial I have seen that has made me feel like I am able to face this process of aging with a very positive and exciting energy. I know that sounds goofy but I have never worried about aging and 40 hit me on the blind side! I love your honesty and I just feel like you are a very kindred spirit. I can't wait to see the rest of your tips and try them out to be a little more cautious about my makeup routine. ( not just caution, more than anything else getting comfortable in my skin now and as I am getting older) You are an absolutely gorgeous woman and I am super jealous because you still look like your in your 30's without a doubt! Thank you so much for this. Today I needed to get a pump up and I can't believe how much you have helped me. Thank you!
I have been looking all over for 40+ makeup tutorial for a year. There were a couple out there but it seemed like they were going more towards the more expensive makeups with no alternatives...... By the way your beautiful with both sides done and even more beautiful with out any makeup at all. THANK YOU
Awww Marvene what a kind comment. Yes girl growing old is a privilege. But we can enjoy it and age gracefully all at the same time. Wear that spf daily and I promise you will be amazed at how youthful your skin will remain! You are beautiful! 💜
Thanks Shannon! I love drugstore makeup. I honestly like it better than most higher end makeup products but I will say much of my skincare isn't as affordable as the makeup I use. Thank you for your kind comment! Hope you have a beautiful New Year!!!
hehehe, like your "blind side" remark. right there with you, except I'm staring down 60. I always thought I'd handle getting old okay... but I didn't know it would happen so fast !? Thought I'd have time to adjust, nope, my late 40s turned into 50s overnight. I had given up on my looks till I found this, and other sites like it, and I can say I look better facing 60 than I did in all my 50s , thanks to these ladies! ~🦋
I've been doing my makeup basically the same way since my youth. Well into my 50s now, I can see how it is aging me (especially now that I have embraced growing out my grey hair recently). This video really helps me to be inspired and have a whole new perspective on how I need to apply my makeup in my fab 50s! Thanks for posting this!
Thank you Jaynee! I know girl. I think if I didn't have a channel and didn't have to constantly see what I really looked like on camera, I would probably still do my makeup the old way. But I really don't think there are any real rules. I say as long as you feel pretty, that's all that matters. 😘
Love your comments on hooded eyes. The softer look took years off your appearance. As they say....a picture is worth 1,000 words! Your video reminded me that as fashion becomes outdated & just a habit, so can our makeup application. The updated look is just beautiful as are you. Thank you for sharing your makeup tips that will help me decrease the appearance of my hooded eyes!
Gorgeous! I’m all for aging gracefully and I’m so glad to have these tutorials to help curb my old ways and learn to look more lifted. This helped so much!
1st Thank you for being so candid and honest in what you have learned. I am much older than you, I'm an Esthetician/Instructor, I have trained nearly 100 working professionals in skincare and makeup, all while I rarely over my life wore makeup and sadly and admittedly did not protect my skin up until I turned 30, which is when I began my career. I am 65 and I love, love, love what you did in this video, I am now having fun, for having to actually wear makeup at my age for that lil bit of extra pizzas and boost😉, I will keep following your journey, and look forward to seeing what you will do next, loved the color correcting tip to adjust foundation colors, loved the lighter color on the lower lash line with the tinneyist dark in the lower outer corner of the eye..tou are stunning...please, please consider using a led light treatment mask for your melasma they are An AMAZING tool for both hyperpigmentation and fine lines and wrinkles.. You are stunning, thank you again, and best of luck in all you share ❤elanie
Hi Melanie! Wow thank you for the awesome comment! Oh thanks for that tip. I thought red light therapy can darken melasma? I heard purple maybe and blue and yellow was ok. Im' not sure though.
I love the way you explained...vry polite and not offensive for those who did the make up incorrectly...am 41 and rly inspired for minimal makeup like this...classy,elegant and being original me...amazing darling
Cupie Doll I’m also 50- so I like the lighter look as well- I have really good skin and was blessed with a much more youthful appearance than my actual age- but.... I can tell the difference when I put darker make up on as opposed to putting lighter make up on-
In my opinion, I like the older way you used to do your face except maybe the blush is a little dark, and I cannot believe your age! thought you were at least just 30, but you are beautiful and I enjoyed the tutorial! Also, I like a darker lip. Like mayby wine liner, and wine gloss.
Veronique Ashlynn I have been doing Botox for Migraine, just had my 2nd set of shots and I wish I wouldn’t have been so frightened of it! Should have started YEARS ago!! I know it’s off topic slightly, but I wanted you to know. I don’t think I will ever use it for cosmetic reasons though. My goal is to grow into my age GRACEFULLY, not kicking and screaming; but not giving up either. 💁🏼♀️
I just had the best time finally learning the right way to put on makeup!! I absolutely love how REAL and HONEST you are. You are beautiful inside and out - thank you for blessing my day ❤️
My big flaw is dark circles. Like you, I used to try to cover them with layers of makeup... and I could still see the circles. But I found that by the time I got my cheeks, lipstick, and eyebrows done, that you didn't notice the circles anymore. I could see the circles, but the beauty of the color on my lips and cheeks and brows was all I noticed. Except hours later, when the makeup around my circles got tired, I really noticed all that makeup. So, now like you, I've gone minimal, because my face isn't all about my flaws... I celebrate the good parts and let the flaws stand in the background. 💝☀🌵
I agree completely. We're lucky to still be kicking as far as I'm concerned. Aging gracefully is the key. I dont so much mind the fine lines and wrinkles but hate the gray hair. Ha ha. Cheers ladies.
The best tutorial I've ever seen. You did a fantastic job and I think too much makeup as you get older I feel it shows more lines when adding too much. Less is more and you look amazing!
I really like your approach to makeup and skin in general for us “ older women”. You are so “ real” and down to earth in your presentation. I have become a huge fan since I found you on you tube. Thank you !!!
I’d almost say it’s more of a evening or night vs daytime look. The “old” way of doing it might be appropriate going out somewhere, but the other “new” side is much more day to day appropriate. 🙂
I totally enjoyed this video. I laughed out loud at your lipstick story. I'm 58 with hooded eyes, and I found so many good tips! Also, I think I have a sort of pet peeve about people wearing makeup that's way too dark for their skin tone. It looks really weird to me, and my thought balloon says, "Honey, get someone to help you match your makeup!" Your "mature side" looks so pretty!. And I'm with you on the obsessing. I want my routine to be quick, simple, and pretty. I want to enjoy this time in my life and spend the bulk of my time on meaningful things, but do it with a polished look. Thanks for your help!
Thank you Sherrie, this video has changed my make up life! I'm older now and I used to wear my make up too heavy, especially around the eyes, looking old and feeling crappy that it no longer looks good that way. I tried applying my eye makeup the way you did in this video and I love my new look, thank you!
Awww you just made my day! I'm so happy to hear it was so helpful. I bet you looked and felt 20 years younger. You can still wear darker makeup. I think it looks really pretty BUT just not harsh and I needed to blend it more and not pile so much on. The huge thing is not to pull our features down by putting dark under the eyes or placing everything low. Of course I'm not an expert at all but I'm happy to hear my little tips were helpful! 😘
Just amazing! You can really see the difference! I’m 34 and have been doing exactly what you were doing in the past! I’m terrible at applying makeup but after watching this I know I will get better! Thank you! And you were just so sweet and easy to follow. You have a Mandy Moore vibe about you. I’m sure you’ve heard That a thousand times!
46 hunny 🤭🤭 you’re beautiful!! I just came upon this tutorial and I’m so glad I did, NEW SUBSCRIBER!! A little tip about mascara that I’ve found as of late, I will do a nice coat on my top lashes I like them BLACK but not clumpy and on my bottom lashes I just started using BROWN mascara and I am OBSESSED it’s so “right” for lack of word, it just darkens my lashes the right way and I can actually use the wand without worrying about spider eyes or instant clump 🤦🏻♀️ and you can’t even tell I’m wearing two different shades!!! Best thing I ever tried lol!! I’m 44 and girl I don’t want to age AT ALL 😩 I’m having a wicked hard time with it ugh.... but I think you’re absolutely stunning and I’m happy I found this channel!! Now I can go binge watch your tutorials 🤪
Great tip about the mascara! Thank you for sharing! LOL I try to remember that getting old is a privilege. We will look back at our skin 20 years from now and think we looked like children Haha! Just use spf daily and you will be amazed at how young your skin will remain. I promise!
Jennifer Kopenga I just stumbled on to this tutorial as well n had to subscribe as well! Super great tips n made me start playing around with my makeup again! Giggles I’m 5-oh crap I’m actually 52 now!!! Oh man! Take about forgetful or denial!!! HAHAHA I TURNED ANOTHER YEAR OLDER IN APRIL! This covid 💩 made it seem like another day since no celebration so I guess I just canceled it in my mind as well! 🤣well now maybe my face will forget it too with these new tips!?! Hey a gal can dream!🤣😊
I had my makeup done by a professional (for a girls weekend because I would never do that normally). She told me when purchasing a foundation you should buy the color that best matches the color of your neck. Its works like a charm!! No more foundations thrown into the "Nope not gonna work pile"! 💕
Wow, I love the less makeup side it's beautiful and dewy. I also love how you use inexpensive products and it looks very high-end. I have hooded eyes and always have a hard time with makeup, I notice some mistakes I have been making, thank you for taking the time to make this video :)
Great tutorial, your old style make up made me laugh and took me right back to my youth. Well done for not trying to sell us every product, it was refreshing. You look incredible.
I love the new look side. I’ve just started doing makeup. By being a younique presenter. So I’m not perfect and I’m not a makeup artist but love watching others to learn. Thank you
Awwww well "pretty you" is still there! Everyday when you look in the mirror don't forget to tell yourself OUT LOUD "I am beautiful" The more you hear it, the more you believe it. I promise! You are beautiful!
I remember that lip look from back in the day! You’re naturally beautiful! I never could wear mascara on my bottom lashes even when I was young , I love the way it looks!
Omg finally someone not selling products and who is honest. I was in the military for a long time and never had the time or frankly the need for makeup. I’m 49 and jut starting. I’ve watch many videos (if I had UA-cam in high school hmmm). They are all selling a product I can’t afford. You answered more questions for me in five minutes then 2 hrs of the other ppl. I subscribed and look forward to more of your honesty.
So glad to have you here Jennifer! I do share a lot of super affordable products BUT I also share some pricey things too. But never feel like you need to buy everything and I try to share an affordable option if something is expensive. Some drugstore products work better than the pricey stuff. YAY! Hope you're having a great day and if you have any questions I'm happy to answer!😘
I am so glad to have found someone in their 40’s with tips on how to best apply makeup!! I also watch the cute young girls but I can’t powder my face or do some of the things they do with 20 year old skin. I honestly liked both sides of makeup with the only exception being the blush. Always apply it higher and sweeping up into the hairline to lift! Thanks for the fun video!
This is the first time I've watched your video. I Love how honest and candid you are. Some of your mistakes are mine too. 🤣 😂 🤣 You look fabulous and even more beautiful with the corrections you've made. I look forward to enjoying and learning from your videos 👍👍 Respectfully your new subscriber M.Lupe Luv🦋
🙌🏼👏👏👏🙌🏼 nice comparison!! It’s hard to see ourselves as others do... as one that tends to go overboard myself this encourages me to try a lighter hand.
Love the way you showed us the contrast. The updated application looks so much fresher and is prettier on you. Great video..you've showed me some great tips. Thanks!
I actually saw her many years ago in Palm Desert, Ca. I worked in the mall there and she was going down the escalator when I was going up. I was ( and still am) Goth and was in a light version of Goth makeup, Tammy Faye, on the other hand scared the living crap out of me. Major spider eyes!! As we past each other, I believe my reaction was a large and very vocal "ARGH!!". She was just talking away with some young guy she was with and appeared not to notice, lucky for me, but a close up look at her confirmed the fact that she put her makeup on with a trowel. I'll never forget that!
If I put that much make up on my face it would feel like I was wearing a mask. You’re over doing the foundation & concealer & then put powder on too, no wonder it cakes up. Less is better no matter your age just use age appropriate products in the right shade.
Thank you. I’m 51 and have just started trying on makeup. I love that you are honest and say you don’t know how to do this or that but that’s what you like to do. I’ve stayed away from makeup because I didn’t want to do it wrong.
That was a fun trip down memory lane! I love your sense of humor and your great sense of moderation blended with soft colorizing for a youthful pop. This was my first makeup video for older skin and hooded eyes..thanks so much!
I really love your tutorial. I do have hooded eyes and no one had ever said anything. About making the crease where you wanted. Which is a bit higher. Thank you so much for this videos. Ciao 💅💄
Thank you for an honest and great video for natural makeup on mature skin! I like that it is quick and easy, and no fake eyelashes, too much concealer we’re used. You are stunning!
@@GracefulBeautyWithSheri Beautiful Grace can I ask how old you are? You are gorgeous absolutely stunning! Just happen to come across this video & I'm happy I did, I'm 52 an I could use all the tips I can get😘👍
@@GracefulBeautyWithSheri Daaaaang girl that's hard to believe lol what's ur secret? I love Peter Thomas Roth water drench serum its expensive but worth it💯👍
Your makeup looks so light and pretty! I too have hooded eyelids and had given up on eyeshadow. I have to find the right lighter shade that works for me.
I agree both are good but the shawdow a lil too dark as well as under eye . And the blush to dark but u are pretty enough to pull it off. I dont like the dark brow ethier. Do love the lighter natrual side but would like to see more color on lids n eyes : )
Just to make her both sides dramatically different this woman did not blend the eye shadow or the blusher on left side. Such s CHEATER ! On the top of that she says use sunblock even you are indoors !!! BTW Sun blocks are HARMFUL to the skin if not used the NATURAL ones !
Exactly what you said, Comfort Elisha. Took the words outta my mouth. Also, the darker (“don’t “) side looks more pulled down. The lighter side looks much younger. You’re right though, she looks beautiful both ways.
I change the way I now wear my make up as I've got older as I've learned, less is definitely more. I've always worn make up and been complimented for the way I apply the same, I've experimented with colours and dramatic looks but now at the age of 58 health issues, age and environment have all taken their toll. I now have to spend more and take more care but l love just the the two things I couldn't live without are moisturiser and eyelash curlers
Graceful Beauty I know and I think we forget or are too lazy to use them. I bought a pair of eyelash curlers a couple of years ago and used them once. I think fake lashes make people look older and I think invest in a good mascara plus I’ve heard horror stories how some people used false eyelashes very day and their real eyelashes were falling out. Great video by the way. I’m your age too and you look incredible. Something I’ve recently started doing too is exfoliating my lips at least twice a week then at night smother Vaseline all over my lips.
Wow! I keep watching videos where gals say to go dark and higher on the hooded eye. But I always felt my light combination looked better. You are the first person who does it my way. And you look great!
I love both ways you’ve done your make up. The left hand side is lovely for school trips, errands etc. now the right hand side, well smoke up your eyes a bit more, to tone down the black eyeliner,, and you’ll be ready for wining and dining, evening parent meetings
You are a natural beauty and look amazing anyway but I have to say I prefer your eyes with the darker shadow. If you were to use the purple shadow with your "martini glass technique" and a more subtle cat eye, it would look bomb. I do prefer the foundation/blush etc. on the other side, though.
Thanks so much! Yes sometimes I do wear the purple darker because it is such a pretty purple in this palette... but not as dark as I showed. I was just being silly! Haha!
So glad that you're back! I really like your authenticity 😊 And wish i have your cheek bones Thanks for the make up tips. I will for sure will try it. God bless you 😊
Thanks so much Fiona. Once I get these migraines under control I think I will be able to film more often. You know some days are good, others are bad. That's the problem with chronic pain. But I sure had fun making this video. God Bless you too!
I actually like both versions. Your ‘wrong’ side would be great for an evening out, definitely more glam. Your ‘right’ side is great and all around occasions. Excellent tutorial, I’m 54 so I’m leaning towards lighter foundation and blush, but I love a good eye pop of color!
I love the "good" eye! Very pretty and youthful. The only thing I would suggest is skipping mascara on the lower lashes, so it keeps it open and lifted and no darkness below the eye. :)
I have dark blue circles around my eyes. I use a tiny amount of the Pixi light peach eye corrector. I let it dry and then I apply a very small amount of concealer. I have found that less is more. (I like the Pixi corrector better than the Benefit because it has a dryer texture and it stays in place)
Great tip Sandra! I love the Colorescience 3 in 1 total eye for a color corrector. I haven't tried the one by Pixi yet. I'll have to check it out. I have tried the Benefit one and didn't care for it. Thanks for sharing your beauty secrets! Much appreciated! 😘
Agree about the Pixi corrector being 1) a great, inexpensive product, and 2) better than Benefit Erase Paste (now called Boi-ing or whatever). I struggle with dark eye circles too. My most recent addition to the concealer collection is the Giorgio Armani Power Fabric Concealer. So good! A little dab will do ya. Only bummer is that they are not considered cruelty free.
I love your videos. Great job showing the fresher, cleaner side you do makeup now. Makes a big difference! So much younger looking. Of course, you are simply beautiful anyway, but the technic looks amazing especially the eye makeup and the blush area. I have hooded eyes too and so hard to find the correct way to apply shadow. I'm going to try it like you did! Can't wait. Thanks so much for sharing!
It's nice to find someone who doesn't mind aging, and wants to age gracefully! I am 51 y.o., and I really related to the "old" style of makeup application vs. the better way. I have hooded eyes, too, so this was very relevant. Unlike you, I have pale skin and light hair, but my eyes are green like yours. I like your non-judgy attitude! :-)
You’re beautiful & i love how you do your makeup and this is so helpful We are ALLLLL guilty of doing it wrong! Love how you are pleasant about yourself suggestions you Rock 💙
Congrats on this video. I agree with how your "corrected" application turned out, as you do look younger and refreshed, by highlighting and warming your features without the harshness of your previous application process, this was a great day-time/office look. I think less product applied results in a more polished appearance; unless you work in an industry where heavy/caricature makeup is a requirement. As a former makeup artist, I support people applying makeup however they choose, but I always remind them that blending is key, especially on maturing skin.
First, you are gorgeous without makeup. A true natural beauty. I also have hooded eyes and have been doing my eye makeup wrong my entire life! I'm 58 and for the rest of my days I will do it the right way. THANK YOU!
lovely looks great i'm 61 I've been wearing false eyelashes for 9months after today they are gone. I have long lashes anyway, Thank you Sherry enjoyed your video very much. I have a identical twin sister name Sherrye she is into botox, fillers and all of that. And I still look younger, lol I will keep watching your videos today was my first.
What a great comment! Don't let your sister see what you wrote though. LOL I think botox and fillers do look lovely on some people but honestly I think some people use it IN PLACE OF taking care of their skin. Using good skincare and daily sunscreen to me is better than any filler or botox out there but of course injectables have their place for some people. I have gotten comments from some gals who say they never use skincare and don't use sunscreen but they want instant results so they got fillers or botox.... and they still aren't happy.
Hallelujah! Finally a tutorial that addresses naturally hooded eyes AND mature skin! My husband complemented my makeup today after using your tips. Thank you!
IKR!!!
😃 your husband is so nice to help you .
Love the lighte shades!!!
Amen!!!!
I just have to say that your old way of doing your eyes really made them look bigger. To me, gorgeous. The new way is a great natural look, a great look for daytime, the office, grocery store, whatever. Other times, especially for a night out, that dramatic, big eye look is gorgeous.
Ronda Joyce I agree
My exact thoughts
I enjoyed watching your video 😄
i love your humble attitude toward makeup and aging gracefully! thank you for this very detailed tutorial! 👏👏😊
Thanks Laila. Very kind of you to say! I appreciate your comment! 😘
The eye with the dark color(smokey eye) is your evening wear, just do your left cheek the way you did it on the other side. I liked them them both.
I agree. Party look and day look. I like both!
I agree! The only thing on the left side is the blush
The smokey eye is her right eye, so I'm pretty sure you mean do her right cheek the way the left was done.
The eye with the heavier makeup actually looks bigger but the other side is so much softer and prittier. You look beautiful either way😊
it also looks like a black eye on the left
I like both. The right for day and the left for night..
I like both eyes, except for the wing on the right eye.
I like the way both sides look and I apply my make up Like you but I have a round face .
Wow, I can see a big difference. I quit wearing makeup because the "old" way didn't look good anymore. You have inspired me. I am going to go buy some new makeup and try the less is more look. Thank you!
Let us know how your makeup turns out Paula. Excited to hear the results!
I also stopped wearing makeup, you have inspired me to try it again with lighter more natural shades. Thanks for the lesson 💞
Heavier side looks like a glamorous dressy night out but the natural side is best all around. You’re very pretty & don’t need much help from make up. LOL
I love this comment Paula!!
THANK YOU!
Thank you! I really appreciate that!
Oh wow how wonderful is that you can see better now. What a blessing! And it's always fun buying new makeup!
Te Burt wow happy to have you watching make up tutorials at 75! Rock on girl!
Thank you Juli. I really appreciate that. And I'm so happy to have you here. Hope you enjoy the rest of my channel. Have a beautiful day!😘
What a difference in the two sides! The lighter side is definitely more flattering.
I agree, the dark is just too harsh for me.
WOW! Your blush made a HUGE difference in how it lifted your face and made you look so much younger. Thank you for giving me great ideas on my aging eyes!
I know isn't it crazy how different placement of our makeup can make such a difference.
Thank you 🙏
Thank you! That's very kind of you!
Graceful Beauty Where do you get the lash growing serum. Name please. ?
I don't wear fake eyelashes myself... My mascara is good enough for me
Jenny Barnett , that is so true. Loved this video.
Thank you for watching!

LOVE your comment
I like both makeup
"Thank you" doesn't even come close to expressing how grateful I am I came across this video. I finally understand why the glorious YT guru's make up tips and tricks never looked pretty on me. This video is a great eye opener for sure. I have learned a lot!
Thank you. I really appreciate your comment! 😘
YES!!!! My thoughts exactly!
An eye opener literally. Lol. I was always bad at shadow even when i was younger i will do this.it looks so nice.
( not just caution, more than anything else getting comfortable in my skin now and as I am getting older)
You are an absolutely gorgeous woman and
I am super jealous because you still look like your in your 30's without a doubt!
Both are beautiful thank you for the tips I’m 48 & I enjoy watching women around my age applying makeup....
Thanks so much for your comment Dana!
I am 65 and I love, love, love what you did in this video, I am now having fun, for having to actually wear makeup at my age for that lil bit of extra pizzas and boost😉, I will keep following your journey, and look forward to seeing what you will do next, loved the color correcting tip to adjust foundation colors, loved the lighter color on the lower lash line with the tinneyist dark in the lower outer corner of the eye..tou are stunning...please,
please consider using a led light treatment mask for your melasma they are An
AMAZING tool for both hyperpigmentation and fine lines and wrinkles..
You are stunning, thank you again, and best of luck in all you share
❤elanie
Hi Melanie! Wow thank you for the awesome comment! Oh thanks for that tip. I thought red light therapy can darken melasma? I heard purple maybe and blue and yellow was ok. Im' not sure though.
Melanie Adorno ;
I love the way you explained...vry polite and not offensive for those who did the make up incorrectly...am 41 and rly inspired for minimal makeup like this...classy,elegant and being original me...amazing darling
I love the lighter fresh look. I’m 50 and I’m learning makeup and trying to stay fresher and not so heavy.
Thanks so much! Yes light and fresh vs heavy looks so nice.
Cupie Doll I’m also 50- so I like the lighter look as well- I have really good skin and was blessed with a much more youthful appearance than my actual age- but.... I can tell the difference when I put darker make up on as opposed to putting lighter make up on-
Cupie Doll Me too. Glad I found someone else.
I love what your make-up for the older woman. Keep going!
I just had the best time finally learning the right way to put on makeup!! I absolutely love how REAL and HONEST you are. You are beautiful inside and out - thank you for blessing my day ❤️
Thanks Tara! I had fun making this video. I try not to be too silly, but I was cracking up trying to edit this. Teehee!
Great way to look at it and we are probably the only ones really noticing our little flaws. Yes celebrate the good! Love that!
I agree completely. We're lucky to still be kicking as far as I'm concerned. Aging gracefully is the key. I dont so much mind the fine lines and wrinkles but hate the gray hair. Ha ha. Cheers ladies.
@@GracefulBeautyWithSheri Yes WE are all our own worst critic. I have a baby face and chubby cheeks and that helps a little bit. Even at 54. Ha ha
I'm 60+ & I followed every step with you & I LOVE the results!! Thank you & keep up the good advice/lessons. 😘
Oh wow how awesome is that Debi! Glad to hear it worked well for ya!
It is so good you show all of these mistakes. It is important to know not only how the makeup should be, but how it should not.
The best tutorial I've ever seen. You did a fantastic job and I think too much makeup as you get older I feel it shows more lines when adding too much. Less is more and you look amazing!
I've never heard of "shade adjusters." Learned something new! Thank you.
Yes a few different brands make these. They definitely come in handy. 😁
I really like your approach to makeup and skin in general for us “ older women”. You are so “ real” and down to earth in your presentation. I have become a huge fan since I found you on you tube. Thank you !!!
Thank you. So happy to have you here. 🤗
Both looks nice, the heavy eye on a night out would look lovely xx good Tips ❤️
Thanks Dana! I appreciate your feedback! 💜
I agree😊
Love both actually.
in agreement. i prefer your left cheek and the foundation on the left side. .
I prefer the other side really.
Except for the blusher which is too heavy and low. Overall though, the other ( wrong ) side looks better
Great tips for a woman over 40. I'm 58 and am going to try these techniques. Natural really is better. Thanks for the video!
Thank you for your comment Janet! I appreciate you watching!
I’d almost say it’s more of a evening or night vs daytime look. The “old” way of doing it might be appropriate going out somewhere, but the other “new” side is much more day to day appropriate. 🙂
Loved the video! I'm with you - I dont mind aging but want to do it gracefully! Especially like the hooded eyes! Thank you for sharing!
Great visual demonstration Penny! I've stopped using black mascara for brown. It softens up the harshness IMO.💚
Great tip! I love brown mascara too! Thanks so much for sharing!
I love the natural makeup, and I'm so going to try it myself. Beautiful" thank you for sharing. 💕
LOL I mean I bet other people do the same thing in the mirror right?! hahahaha! 🤪Thanks so much for watching Sandy!
@@GracefulBeautyWithSheri I agree!
We’ve all been there!
Thank goodness to see people doing tutorials for older women like myself and for hooded eyes!
Thank you Sandra! I'm happy to have you here!😘
I have watched several videos on the does and don'ts for hooded mature eyes and yours is the very best!! thank you
Wow Theresa! You are just too kind. Thank you so much! 😘
Absolutely love how down to earth and real you are. Beautiful both ways, but I agree the new way is more youthful looking and lifted. You rock!
Awww thank you . I appreciate your saying that. So nice! 💜
Thank you Sharleen! Yes so funny, never heard that about Mandy Moore till I started my channel 2 yrs ago. LOL I suppose I could be her mom. LOL
I love that you don’t try to be perfect, you’re natural 🥰
Thanks Ethel! 😘
Hi Carole! Thank you! I actually prefer a lot of drugstore makeup over higher end makeup. Hope you're having a nice weekend so far!
Great tutorial, your old style make up made me laugh and took me right back to my youth. Well done for not trying to sell us every product, it was refreshing. You look incredible.
Thanks Penny!
I love the new look side. I’ve just started doing makeup. By being a younique presenter. So I’m not perfect and I’m not a makeup artist but love watching others to learn. Thank you
Thank you! I had just given up on the "pretty me" I used to know. Super helpful!
I like the darker side its very pretty

That's so nice to hear! Thanks Nicole!
@@GracefulBeautyWithSheri not mature at all. you look very young. beautiful lady x
I definitely have started lightening and lifting my makeup as I get older. I also never use mascara on the bottom lashes.
Great tip. I agree about the mascara.

Your left side looks fabulous. I totally agree that as we age less is definitely more. You are gorgeous, btw!!
Thanks!
Thank you! 💜
Tammy Faye Baker, haha! I'm old enough to get that!
LOL Bless her heart!
Ikr! Tammy Faye eyelashes used to scare me...lol.
I feel like she started the first photo op in The Croods.
Huge improvement!! I love the idea of using bronzier on the lid! Im going to try it! so natural. My lids r starting to hood as well.
Thanks Elizabeth! Yes girl bronzer is so good as an eyeshadow and it saves time and money.
Thank you. I’m 51 and have just started trying on makeup. I love that you are honest and say you don’t know how to do this or that but that’s what you like to do. I’ve stayed away from makeup because I didn’t want to do it wrong.

Your makeup looks so light and pretty! I too have hooded eyelids and had given up on eyeshadow. I have to find the right lighter shade that works for me.
I love both, except that the blush on the "don't" is a bit to much.
LOL Oh yes girl the blush is CRAZY right?! LOL 🤪
Thanks for sharing that Kim. Yes eyelash curlers make such a difference for some people.
I’m guilty of everything on the eye. That lip liner is reminding me of the late 90s. I passed on that one. 😂
Haha! Tracy! I'm STILL guilty of wearing the 90's darker lip liner! 🤪
I actually like the eye makeup on both sides... night/going out look and a day look .. either way looks great!!
Absolutely agree, beautiful both ways!
I love both ways you’ve done your make up. The left hand side is lovely for school trips, errands etc. now the right hand side, well smoke up your eyes a bit more, to tone down the black eyeliner,, and you’ll be ready for wining and dining, evening parent meetings
Thank you Liz!
Really enjoyed this video. You have such a lovely glowing skin. Love from South Africa
Hi Anneke! So happy to hear you enjoyed this video! Wow South Africa ! That's amazing!
Both look lovely to me, I guess depending on what time of the day and if going to certain events. I learned from this video. Thank you. 💘
Thank you Claudia! I really appreciate you watching my channel!
LOVE the more natural look! So classic and youthful looking. You actually look younger and healthier in the minimal look.
Thank you Deborah!😘
You are a natural beauty and look amazing anyway but I have to say I prefer your eyes with the darker shadow. If you were to use the purple shadow with your "martini glass technique" and a more subtle cat eye, it would look bomb. I do prefer the foundation/blush etc. on the other side, though.
Thanks so much! Yes sometimes I do wear the purple darker because it is such a pretty purple in this palette... but not as dark as I showed. I was just being silly! Haha!
Agree 💯
So glad that you're back! I really like your authenticity 😊
And wish i have your cheek bones Thanks for the make up tips. I will for sure will try it.
God bless you 😊
Thanks so much Fiona. Once I get these migraines under control I think I will be able to film more often. You know some days are good, others are bad. That's the problem with chronic pain. But I sure had fun making this video. God Bless you too!
So sorry to hear about your migranes. Prayed for your healing😊
Hi Jennifer, yes I think skipping mascara looks really pretty too. Thanks so much for your tips!
I’ve been skipping lower mascara for years and I love it! I need to get a lighter color to long under my eye.
Sandra Metcalfe
That pixi peach is my holy grail for dark hollows between my eyes and nose. ..agree good stuff!
thank you for sharing. I have dark circles too. You should try the new Revlon Candid concealer, it's great!!!
Sandra Herrera , I will try the Revlon corrector/concealer. The more options I have to hide my dark blue circles, the better.
Thank you Noelle! I really appreciate that!
You’re beautiful & i love how you do your makeup and this is so helpful
We are ALLLLL guilty of doing it wrong!
The old way makes your eyed look larger but the new blush looks better.
Lovely ❤ You have a fantastic presentation style. Thank You
Thanks Kim! How nice of you to say that.
I have gotten comments from some gals who say they never use skincare and don't use sunscreen but they want instant results so they got fillers or botox.... and they still aren't happy.
you look great in both! But i can definitely see the usefulness in the "new" way
