I'll be voting for Ammar Campa-Najjar. He seems like the youngest of the bunch and he could probably relate to my issues. He seems he's going to focus on jobs and employment and I like that very much. When they say a happy wife is a happy life is kind of like saying that a good job and employment will also equal a happy life.

With Brian Jones I'm not so concerned about international issues. We have to take care of ourselves first and I think that means taking care of people that live in this community by making sure they are well educated and there are jobs for everyone. Security doesn't seem to be an issue here in this community. We need more Federal support to curb mental illness drug and substance abuse and focus on employment and good paying jobs.

What is the Difference Between Mr. Issa and Democrat Congressman Lu?
Mr. Issa went from our district, the 49th, to the 50th. I also learned he was with the 48th prior to the 49th. Will Mr. Issa try the 51st after he loses in the 50th or when he feels the 50th is about to drop him?
Listening to his campaign ads, Mr. Issa has been dishonest with his claims against Mr. Carl DeMaio. He quoted Carl as having called President Trump a "pig". That is not true. I heard the whole segment of Carl's former radio show on 600KOGO where Mr. Issa took that voice clip. He edited out the rest of the segment's talking points. Carl was talking about the result of the Republican debate during the primaries in 2016. Carl loved the brave and fighting style of then candidate Trump and that piggy remark was in jest. The context of it was that Trump is someone who can get down and dirty if the going gets down and dirty; that he can fight fire with fire.
Mr. Issa's campaign ads against DeMaio reminds of Democrat Congressman Lu who played an edited video clip of Candace Owens, during one of the Democrat controlled Juidicial Committee hearing, in order to portray Candace and everybody else who support nationalism as Hitler-types. Ms Owens shot back and corrected these disgraceful attempt of Mr. Lu to paint a different picture of Ms. Owens.
Carl is a staunch supporter of the President and his border security policy.
I received an email from Mr. Issa asking for a donation for his 2018 campaign. I responded by telling him that raising campaign funds will be the least of his problems if his lukewarm support of President Trump does not change. And now, he is painting himself as the Trumpest of them all.
It was good that I did not donate to his kitty. He would have been using that now for his 50th run. BTW, reports had it the lady who replaced him as candidate in the 48th did not get any significant campaign funds raised by Issa before he decided to jump ship. I am not familiar with campaign fund rules but can one use donations raised from one district in another? And he jump too late not giving Ms. Harkey enough time and funds to wage a good fight. And if that was not enough, he even called in the polls for the Democrat Mr. Levin even before the election ended. Thank you but no thanks Mr. Issa.
DeMaio knows more about our local issues. And the fact is, our local issues are also the local issues across the country.
Mr. Issa is a TRAditional POlitician or what we call a TRAPO. In our little ethnic corner, a trapo is an old dirty rag that needs to be thrown away.
The difference between Mr. Issa and Democrat Congressman Lu is the same.

it's not government that costs too much, it's the supply and demand of housing in san diego. real estate here is expensive because everyone wants to live here. shrinking the government means less affordable housing. republicans really make no sense. and don't try to say that your taxes are gonna be too much. look up economies of scale. run the government like a business and it will work wonders. campa-najjar is easily the best choice.

Republicans would also argue that real estate is expensive because of too much regulation such as zoning laws that artificially lower the supply of housing and increase costs of development. That's what they mean by "shrinking the government" with regards to the housing problem. It's about cutting red tape.

Issa seems too old. He's been serving for 18 years and so I think it's time for a change and A New Perspective. I definitely won't be voting for him. It seems like he just wants to work on his Network and relationships that he's already built.

I won't be voting for DeMaio. He wants to focus on the border and to me it seems like we don't have a border problem, we have more of a homeless problem than we do a border crossing problem. He also wants to decrease the size of government but wants to increase Military Support. The military is one of the most expensive parts of the federal government. I love the military but we spend billions of dollars every year funding this military and we don't have a war and what is a real threat?

    • @t2pt554

Pete, we do not need to have a war before we fund the military. We fund the military so we can prevent our enemies from starting a war with us. It is called deterrent.
Also, we can put more resources for the homeless problem if we do not spend a lot of money on the illegal immigration problem. Let me cite a study in 2010: Los Angeles and San Diego combine spent almost $2,000,000,000 just taking care of illegal aliens who are in jail for various crimes. Many emergency rooms in hospitals are closing down because undocumented people use these facilities because the law prohibits the hospital from turning them away if they check in these emergency rooms; even for the slightest ailments. Many children of American citizens and legal immigrants have to find college education in other states because the slots in our local universities are filled up by, well, many children of undocumented immigrants.
I do agree w you on decreasing the size of government but then, we cant because we have to take care of the undocumented people who need the services of govt. Take for instance the DMV. The DMV had to hire more people so that it can address the added millions of undocumented people get their driver license. People like me have to pay for additional coverage against uninsured motorists issues. In effect, I am paying for their insurance cover.
I could go on and on but I hope you get the point. Have a nice day.
