Oh, it is one month after it happened already, so the mystery of pimping dupe at 44:00 should be resolved already, right? Would love to know the reason
I think he said it on twitter or something: yes it was just a tool, he pressed the button without thinking about it. Or at least there is no better explanation
17:26 I know that prolly a lot, lots of people have asked you this question before, but... if duping is so OP, why speedrunners won't abuse it to such a great extent that you dupe one mission to literally skip either the whole city section or even the whole game itself? I saw you doing duping one mission (I think it was Monster?) like 8 times in comparison to Tagging Up Turf. So why people don't use this technique even more if that could save them a lot of time on the speedrun? Unless there are limits in which you can dupe certain mission or some of them are "undupable" (not in terms of whether players are able to do that but whether the game code allows that) - if that's the case, then just nod. If not, I would really love to hear the explanation :) Cheers
There are three main reasons for that: 1) As mentioned, many dupes just always crash the game. That you can dupe monster 7 times (so you're running 8 instances of monster) with a chance to not crash the game is actually quite an exception. 2) You can only skip missions within one mission chain. Each city consists of several mission chains. Like duping Sweet missions in Los Santos will not skip any Ryder or Big Smoke Missions in the game. The longest mission chain is the syndicate mission chain in San Fierro which consists of 10 missions. So maybe duping photo opportunity 9 times would skip 9 missions of this chain. In this particular case it would also skip the 5 Woozie missions as well as Snail Trail (CRASH mission chain) because the last mission of the chain unlocks the desert missions. So the mission chain design limits the maximum amount of skippable missions to potentially(*) 15. 3) Limitation of duping setups: E.g. the police bike/vigilante setup is very fast (if you're consistently doing the lucky and difficult frame perfect 1/3 chance or if you're using an external frame limiter, which is allowed in the category most runners except Josh go for), but you can only start a mission twice with that trick. There are other setups like trucking for more than two instances, but it's very time consuming to set up and it's only unlocked in badlands, so you can't use it in Los Santos. * I say potentially, because I don't think this particular skip can work. I think if it would work, people would do it already. Probably trying it will always crash the game. Maybe there are also additional code limitations I'm not aware of. I can't rule out that some day some setup will be found making this work, though. I just think it's more likely that the biggest possible skips were already found. First one is Toreno's last flight x2 (second-last syndicate mission), skipping Yay-Ka-Boom-Boom, the 5 missions of the Woozie chain and Snail trail (basically the same scenario described above, you just played through the first 8 syndicate missions differently). Skipping Yay-Ka-Boom-Boiom unlocks the first desert mission, however it doesn't really unlock the area of the desert and Las Venturas, which complicates the run, as bridges are blocked. It requires also to do a complicated 0 star glitch, as you would have 5 stars constantly in the desert and Las Venturas otherwise, which causes that much trouble that it almost certainly loses more time than gained by the mission skips. Second is Monster x8, skipping 7 desert missions, but requiring getting lucky to not crash the game and requiring another complicated glitch to unlock the Verdant Meadows airport - as it still is required, but you skipped the possibility to buy it.
@@D3rL30p4rd I see, so pretty much the fact that you can only skip a chain of missions... Well, at least that means there is room for improvement such as Photo Opportunity mega dupe - only time will tell if one day there will be a speedrunner ambitious enough to use dupes more often. Thank you!
You did correctly the dupe of riot x4, that was the only way to dupe riot x4, also some runners in gta sa any mdvmmw/ce did this dupe. i kinda hoping that you're gonna do any mdvmmw/ce and to clarify what do i mean. A lot of the time that would just crash the game
@@Milkyway_Squid And here are speedrunners duping Monster 8x times even though that would also crash the game... That's not a good excuse ;)
