    Stef is a nice guy ! I am waiting on a gold set from my dealer to use as rear sides. All my setup is gold. I’ve beolab 50 front. The 19 sub. Beolab 28 as rear. Very excited. My dealer says you can use the 8s as front wide as well to supplement the 50s.
    Thanks for video Steve. Loving my harmony 88 8k as well ! Love b and 0.

    That home theatre looks really excellent. I'm planning on getting the Beosound Theatre for a home theatre room I'm creating. Then I think I'd have two 8s at the back. I think that would be full enough for me. It is a very small room so I wouldn't want 28s and in fact the Theatre on its own will fill the room very easily, so the 8s would just add rear channels.
    I think the 8 fills a hole in the B & O range that has been there for a while. Something small that can be mounted on a wall or placed on a surface is going to be extremely useful for B & O households.
    I love that they have been designed to match the Theatre or the 28s. It creates a very integrated look.

      If you have suitable wall mount positions or furniture to place them then I agree. On the floor stands the foot print is not smaller than the Beolab 28 and you do not notice the height extending up along side a huge screen panel television. Beolab 8 might be in stores but some options are not going to be available until February. I managed to snag a pair of Beolab 28 for £7000. Still more than any pair of Beolab 8.Now if I could get a Theatre (gold/oak) for under £6k as I was quoted last summer ...

    I appreciate that the Beosound Theatre has a lot of smarts built in to manage the satellite speakers for surround sound but if you have a mix of speakers (not 4 or 6 of the same) then the best most able speakers have to be the front for use as stereo speakers.
    Many of the videos, particularly from television programmes have an excellent stereo channel but are not 6 channel. Even if the set up can distribute that stereo into s pseudo surround I have never found that to be successful and prefer the studio mixed stereo if 6 channel are not available. So Beolab 28 in the front always. Beolab 19 to take the deep bass from 6 channel action motives and then Beolab 8, 17 or 18 for rears and/or side speakers {sure Beolab 50 and Beolab 90 might figure into some homes if you can get them in the door, the floor will take the weight and when your house is large enough that they do not double or triple the value 3x£110k+£9k+£3.5k for 7.1 set up). .
    The comment for Beolab 28 launch were that you don't need Beolab 19. That comment has been repeated with the launch of Beosound Theatre and Beolab 8 (with the assumed Theatre for front channels). Beolab 19 for the sub-woofer channel can be placed where you like even behind your listening sofa to kick some butt. Having robbed your account to get the Theatre in the first instance another few thousand ($€£) is only the same as the next price hike. ;)

    I love your channel. I am thinking about getting this setup with 28 and 8. B&O official and another retailer partner both are telling me to have the 28 in front and 8 on the back. For movie and music.

    • @soundsheavenly
      @soundsheavenly  4 місяці тому +1

      That is the traditional way of doing it...however B&O's sound expert Geoff Martin has told me that you will get better bass by moving the Beolab 28s to the rear, further away from the Theatre, this matches what Stefano has suggested. It is your room, so why not try both and see which you prefer...

    Stefano seems very knowledgeable! I am so unsure of what I’d so. I really am a music person but also love a good movie. So I’d put them in the front for music and in the back for movies. But how easy is it really to switch? I want to know more because I understand they have a new feature that allows them to room-compensate as you are moving them around in space. So is it no more than moving them or do you need to do something in the app after reconnecting to another power socket?

    • @soundsheavenly
      @soundsheavenly  10 місяців тому +2

      Yes, they are very easy to move, just make sure you have mains power at each location where you want to move them to and it only takes a few seconds to move them

    • @geraldmcmullon2465
      @geraldmcmullon2465 10 місяців тому +2

      On the table top stands they are easy to move. Unplug the cable and go. On the stands adding to the 4.1kg for each speaker a little more effort to move from rear to front or another room. If you unclip them are you going to unthread the mains cable from the stand. It detracts and I would go for spare cables (cheap relative to all the other costs).
      Room compensation is part of the Mozart platform and set up in the app. When using WiSA or powerlink (wired connection) the Mozart controls are disabled, the app does not work but the WiSA transmitter will pick up some control features e.g. optimum for Beolab 28 but also for Beolab 17 (which are not controlled by the B&O app). The interface and app for Mozart are easy to use. The internet radio I run all day. It is ease of use over performance. Using WiSA is a little more involved. You have to switch on the Theatre or WiSA transmitter and the Theatre is not transmitting streaming to the speakers only the TV or video source or what ever is sent to or through the WiSA transmitter. The WiSA set up from the Beosound Theatre does all the room speaker smarts and then some.
      I find the same source (16 bit/44) music files sound fuller, richer over WiSA than over wi-fi. I can as easily play these files over WiSA as casting over wi-fi.
      Wi-fi, Ethernet, fibre optic, Bluetooth and 3.5mm analogue inputs all go through the DSP room correcting software of the Mozart platform. There is a 36ms delay to the first speaker and a 300 ms between the primary and secondary to give a latency of 336ms. Watching a video or UA-cam etc needs a latency of -15ms to 35ms (WiSA standard). B&O Wisa is about 5ms to each speaker. This is why BL8 and BL28 give the best of all user cases which other Mozart (only) or WiSA (only) speakers do not.
      If you move the speakers (unplug them) they reconnect to your Wi-fi when powered up. If you have extenders with the same password they should connect to that, but if they can "see" the original point there could be issues. Casting from Bluetooth should still work without wi-fi but it is lossy best to avoid. So there might be no issue, but could need the app to reconnect the wi-fi signal. If the one wi-fi router covers the house there should be no issue, just a boot time delay, except for A5 and Level which have batteries and continue to work (play) as long as the wi-fi signal is okay. No battery in BL8 and no point in trying Level and A5 with video sources (latency) - Steve will have something more to say on that soon.
      You can pick up a pair of BL8 (or get two heavies for BLl28) and move them room to room and enjoy streaming as a mono or stereo system and then for movie night or evening television bring to the lounge and switch on the WiSA transmitter/WiSA enabled TV or Beosund Theatre and they immediately switch over to WiSA mode. Put BL8 in the kid's room and grab them to add as side and rear speakers for 7.1. The transmitter will handle 8 or 16 connected speakers.

    You guys need to get rid of those big speaker-like things the Beolab 8's are resting on. They look too much like big speakers. It creates an expectation and illusion that big sound commensurate with those big black boxes is expected from the little Beolabs, which of course the Beolabs can't deliver. If the Beolabs are placed on thin slender speaker stands, thanks to the way our eyes and ears work together, the sound would be perceived to be more impressive, even though it's the same as when on the big boxes.

    • @soundsheavenly
      @soundsheavenly  10 місяців тому +1

      Ok, that is a good point, but please remember that this is very early after the launch of the speakers and this is one of the few stores that has any stock at this stage. The tall floor stands are not available at the time of filming, so the only option is to use the low table stands in order to display the speakers without delay. I am sure the speakers will be moved to floor stands as soon as they become available.

      I do not have the Beosound Theatre to control everything. From my analogue 6 speaker set up the sub-woofer comes into it's own for action movies. The same with my replacement B&O WiSA 4.1 set up.
      For music, for stereo, for dialogue, that sub is not doing much. You can also place a separate sub that is best for you. Behind your seat and pump up the volume (when neighbours are out). It depends on the audio and the mixing.

    • @soundsheavenly
      @soundsheavenly  10 місяців тому +3

      @@geraldmcmullon2465 Yes, a subwoofer is helpful for movies, but if you have the Theatre then this does have a sub built in - this means that for small to medium setups no extra sub should be needed.
