"Santa Clause" is actually legendary bass player "Leland Sklar". He's played with so many iconic artists/bands. Toto, The Bee Gees, The Doors... He's a bad bad man 😉
@@frankconley6321 I believe he's the most recorded (successful) player in music history. His list of top of the chart tunes is mindboggling. He's everywhere for over a decade, that's incredible.
Phil Collins is a brilliant musician. He looks like an accountant, but he’s an absolute beast on the drums. His music put the TV show Miami Vice on the map. He was the hardest, working musician at live aid next to Freddie Mercury ….Some more of my favorites by him include take me home, mama, long long way to go, Another day in paradise, sussidio, and his cover of you can’t hurry love
Original studio release in 1981. This live performance was 23 years later. Phil is still killing it in 2004. Commands the stage. Thanks for the reaction.
This Phil Collins live performance was during his farewell tour, and even though it was performed over 20 years ago, it still sounds amazing today than when he performed it live back then.
Great to see you react with your brother again, and great choice of song / performance to show him. Phil Collins is considered a great rock musician, and known for his drumming, and later vocals in the band Genesis. He also had a great solo career as a vocalist. As your brother seems to like Led Zeppelin you should let him know that PC filled in as drummer for them in the Live Aid concert. I subscribed to your brothers channel yesterday, and I'm looking forward to watch more of his reactions. I hope to see you reacting to songs of his suggestion on his channel. I saw you did some other reactions with him, but didn't see any song reactions.
@@jamiewilson9280 yeah, I get what you mean. I was just not sure (you never know what you might learn), but I think it is more because in my head that's a duet while a duo is more a 2 men band permanently playing together. But again, that's a me problem I wanted to clarify :)
Song came out early 80’s. About his divorce. He was angry when this song was born. Yeah THATS what he’s about! U won’t be sorry if u dive into his music. But NEVER piss Phil off😂
Collins is brilliant. He loves to subtly tease us. The quiet before the storm. He also extends things to almost be painful. And then he brings it. Relief. Climax. Yeah.
WELL DONE Princess!! Firstly for resisting 4 or 5 times your Brother's continual attempts to ruin the surprise but, also, did this when you were, clearly, not 100%. ALSO, THIS TIME, you let it play to the VERY end and we saw the reaction from the crowd and the standing ovation that he deserved. So, thanks and any reactor seems much less cold when they allow the whole video to play out rather than stop it the instant the music finishes. 10/10 :)
Phil Collins is in a very exclusive club. He's one of three musicians to sell over 100 million albums both as part of a group (Genesis) and as a solo artist. The other two are Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney. This was Phil's first big solo hit. The bearded guy is Leland Sklar, legendary bass player. He toured with Phil and Jackson Browne, among others, and he was also a session musician and plays bass on over 2,000 albums for the likes of Stevie Nicks, James Tayler and many others. He has his own UA-cam channel and talks about many of the artists he's played with. You should check him out!
FUN FACTS…Written bc of Divorce, Cheating, & Phil was pissed! Most people don’t know Phil is left handed. So his drums are set up exactly backwards of “normal”. The reason you don’t see them until he gets to them, is bc they are on risers under the stage. They are timed perfectly for when he gets there. He has retractable sticks (barely perceivable straps around wrist). He doesn’t have to reach for them, like most drummers do bc they weee already with him! No flow interruption! Then he just lets it fly! I am a subscriber bc I love what you do. You are very good at it. I’ll be back!
Get well soon loved the reaction back in the day the 70's we were used to long intros but not only that long music tracks sometimes the whole side of an album was one music track could be up to 20 minutes long we also used to buy an album and listen to it from start to finish nonstop 40 minutes apart from turning it over from side 1 to side 2 some bands often put out double, triple and occasionally quadruple albums I suppose we were very patient back then.
He had already played this song much earlier on July 13, 1985 at the legendary "Live Aid Concert" at Wembley Stadium in London. After his performance there, he flew to the USA on the Concorde. There he performed again on the same day in Philadelphia as part of the same concert. The "Live Aid Concert" was watched live or on television by 1.5 billion viewers worldwide. I was 23 years old at this time. 1985, Wembley: ua-cam.com/video/cCSjuEz7iQk/v-deo.html
Phils voice is unique. Most of his songs are hits. I love a particular one called Mamma. Its about his love for a prostitute who doesent feel the same way. He really reaches with his voice. But any of his songs with Genesis or on his own are amazing.
I don't think a cough could have ever come at a worse time in the song. It was perfect the suspense of the song in the video was building up, and you had them on the edge of your seat and right before the climax of the video and Phil jumps on the drums you have to pause the video to cough. Not your fault just unfortunate...:)
Reaction ok, three stars 🤩🤩🤩, but the sound is the worst I've ever heard in reactions. Is your mic catching the pc speakers? It's like a radio in a toilet! Do you know Wish you were here by Pink Floyd, studio version? It started with that sound. Don't worry, most people don't realize it! 😁
Oh no... you stopped at the worst time. All that build up for nothing! You should have rewound it. Sorry guys, but the whole point is to feel the build-up to that drum solo. Anyway, next time
Your coughing throughout the video was so distracting you should have cut that whole take and started over bad call. Get yourself together if you wanted to be taken seriously for real
note that this man has a banc behind him which gets nothing form him in any way of reauction. His band is some of the best studio players around and he see them as nothing but employees.
What on earth are you both on about??? What utter nonsense The most ridiculous comment I have read…. His backing musicians have been working with him for many, many years some from back in the 1980s …do you think they would continue to work for him for such a long time if they did not feel valued or appreciated by Phil ??!!
ya the guy is a so so drummer not the best by far but not the worse either. He was not a Levon Helm by far. But then the Band which he sang lead and played drums with is the greasiest band that has ever been. After all what other group can just call themselves "THE BAND" for that was what those 5 guys were THE BAND.
You're funny. That stage is packed with some of the best musicians in history. Including the two drummers. Phil and Chester were two peas in a pod for a very long time. Both have had HoF careers and have played with many of the best for over a decade. You aren't doing that as a 'so so drummer.' Sorry, only greats can do that.

If you're in the music business and want to cu an album and you need a bass player, you call Leland. SO many have done just that.

What!? You stop in the drum solo? Never ever!
We knew it was coming - he didn't - thats the joke really.
Didn’t even rewind it. Worst reaction video I’ve ever seen. When he took a phone call I’d had enough lol
Taking care of his sister. Chill.

Love the duo reaction, nice conversation! Keep them coming!
More to come!

Beautiful souls reacting to one of my teenage favorites at 60 years old is SO SWEET! Much love!
Damn good performance.. I'm actually understating this .. what a damn banging performance 😂😂❤
The guy with the long beard is Leland Sklar, a well-known session musician (BASS), he's played on many a song, by many artist.
Phil Collins is one of the 2 best singer/drummers that has ever lived. It is Phil Collins and Don Henley of the Eagles.
I would include Karen Carpenter.
Keith Moon of the WHO... one of the top ten of all time
I would add Deen Castronovo!

Phil Collins is the pub quiz answer to which artist was part of a 4 piece a 3 piece a duo and a solo artist.
Where was he a duo artist. Or do you mean in single songs like separate lives and easy lover?

The whole crew participated, on the build up. Live it is an experience. The GOAT on drums/vocals., no dispute. Love your reaction. Stay Safe.

Saw him do this 4 times 🎉 u stopped at all the wr places but u dint know 🎉😢
