I can pick out my neighbors cat from a bunch of look alikes. I'll never understand people who dont recognize their own cats and meows

I got tricked once as i picked a totally black cat off the road and was sure it was mine that had been killed only to turn around crying with the dead cat in my arms to a meowing at my feet that turned out to still be alive looking up at me. It was the freakest thing ive ever seen, they were identical in every way and even tricked my 4 kids and husband too. It can happen.

Yeah, she got the cat from a no kill shelter(they said it had been there a long time, wouldn't be the case if they kill to make room), so the only reason not to bring it back is her embarrassment. I can sympathize with the rest but that one cruel act just to save face just ruins the rest.

This reminds me how I adopted my cat. She's a 10 year old, long-haired calico, and I renamed her Roxy. Her previous owner passed away, and no one wanted an old grumpy cat, so she went from sheter to shelter until she ended up at the rescue. I fell in love with her immediately. When I brought her home she hid for two weeks. I took a risk and tried to pet her, and she let me. Not only that, but she started to purr. She fell asleep next to me the next night.
I've had her for two years now, and she's fat, grumpy, and demanding, but still is a cuddle bug.

My first cat that I adopted had a similar story. She had been in the shelter system since a kitten and had been returned 5 times and it was a kill shelter and it was her last day so I was kinda pressure into choosing her. She hide behind the fridge the first several days then once she warmed up she didn't trust my keeping her so would poop in my bed to test me. Once she realized she wasn't going anywhere she stopped and only used the box.

I think the message of this game is to not treat cats like an easy way to fill a void or as a disposable thing when they become too much to handle, so it's a lesson in the mistakes people make in not understanding how big a responsibility a pet can really be. Idk why the cat is so restlesss - perhaps they are young and full of energy so being with an old lady who just wants a companion animal isn't mentally stimulating for Dawn, or maybethey were a rescue stray. If the game makes you mad then you are not the bad egg and that is a good thing.
I also think Olive was avoiding her responsibility to her health - ignoring phone calls, staying home, pretending her health isn't giving out on her (probably because her health is literally the one thing people want to talk to her about) - and used Dawn to escape that, and Mae took the frustration of her mum dying in front of her out on Dawn, because emotional maturity isnt her strong suit. Those papers Mae was looking at were medical bills, so I assume she's watching the family estate being sucked away through those expenses which, honestly, would becovered if she went to a retirement home. Look, having dealt with old people, idk if it's different elsewhere but here in Aus they tend to wrestle with their mortality right to the very end as if ignoring the problem will make it go away and it can be a real struggle for everyone involved. Mae handled that responsibility awfully but I don't expect very many people would with the stress of running their own life and the life of a dying family member.
If you can't commit to a pet for any reason, don't get one. If you are sick, seek a doctor. If you are dealing with family member who is sick or dying, speak to a therapist. Dont make the mistakes of the characters in this story.

Saying there's less cars and less dogs but does not less of other things.
Just spending enough nights on the rain can make a cat sick.
Then taking into account with winter comes.
These cats are not true wildcats the domesticated so they got no evolution on the side to survive climate like that.
And even if they find a place that they can somehow survived the elements.
They must still regularly leave that safe place for food.

As an automotive technician for 15 years, I have found 2 kittens in the engine compartment of 2 separate vehicles. Both were unharmed. After fostering each kitten, they were adopted by loving families. I named the kittens, Honda & Toyota. Both families decided to keep the names. Honda was completely Deaf (and loved to eat sauerkraut), but was adopted by a family who's son was Autistic. Apparently they bonded immediately and became best friends. Had a momma cat that liked to hide her kittens in the undercarriage of our truck. We discovered this after two ran out from under it at Wal-mart and into the willing hands of a couple of young ladies thanks to the cat distribution system. And then, after a nice date, my mom heard meowing under there from a void baby who was sitting on top of the spare tire. She managed to get him out, and checked, and back to his mom... but then about the next day, we turned the engine on and heard it meowing in terror. We popped the hood and pulled him out unharmed, deciding it might be better for him to stay indoors after that. Spooky Boy was with us for 16 years, and stayed away from engine sounds after that.

Honestly, watching this game made my blood boil. Dumping a cat out in the wild and saying "oh, you'll be safe out here" Are you serious?! I own several cats and they are all rescues. One I caught as a kitten from on a farm I was working on at the time. Two I caught several months ago after our idiot neighbor bred his cat, couldn't find homes for the kittens and so released them into the wild. And then resetly after moving, there was a starving cat that had almost certainly been left behind by the previous tenants. Its heart breaking that so many people will just abandon an animal like that. I couldn't fathom being so heartless, my animals are truly apart of my family.

I'm 42 now, my family fostered, sheltered and kept over 50 cats since I was like 14. We always had cats. There was just one cat I ever really called mine. He was part of a litter of three siblings and for some reason the plain brown kitten and I connected when I found them born early morning. He got to live until he was 8 until he was sadly cancer ridden but I still remember him vividly despite it being 20 something years. Charlie could walk on two legs next to me if I held my hand down, he climbed up a rain gutter when he wanted to visit me on the 2nd floor, like 14 feet up to my window, staring at me until I opened and let him in. He was more than a cat and a friend.

We lived in a decent spot for cats to safely roam free through backyards and the fields right behind the property. It sucked to have to put him to sleep, but in the end if I deem it medically and ethically sound (whether it's a pet or a person) it should be a valid option, it was at a point where there were no options other than to medicate him to a point where he was barely lucid or let him drift off.

I got a cat for free 6 years ago. They said their son beat her, and to hurry before he gets home. We'll, they were lying. She wasn't beat (thank goodness) BUT SHE WAS PREGNANT. That's why they didn't want her anymore. Well, she had 5 kittens, then our neighbor at the time said a. Momma stray was struck by a car and orphaned 4 kittens. I had 10 cats at one point! The momma cat accepted these kittens and they all got good homes, one even being a savior (if nothing else, this was all meant to happen for this lady to own one of the orphans...I'll have to tell that story if your interested) but they all got good homes and I kept 2...DIBBZ and AUNRI, and we still have the (now fixed) mom. The shelter fixed all 10 for free (I donated but because it's awesome of them, and they fixed them for free knowing my situation) So, knowing those ppl knew she was prego, deciding to pawn her off to an unknowing "victim" was heartbreaking. Luckily I'm not ever a victim and I took on the responsibility...but shameful they are! I love my cats and DIBBZ even got DIABETES (DIBBZ-A-BEETES...lol) And her meds are expensive, but I would never ever just ditch a cat...
(DID I mention we got fleas for 8 months with 10 kittens, 2 dogs and step-kids who didn't clean? I vacuumed 3x a day and bathed each kitten 2x a week for 8 months to get rid of the fleas...not once did I think to just get rid of them! I mean, adopted out, yes, but never abandoned!)

    • @zoefelix650
      @zoefelix650 Місяць тому +3

And the story of the orphan:
My bestie, Carrie was supposed to take her. But after keeping her past the adoption center kitten deposit by weeks, she said she couldn't. SO, I put an ad in the paper and this lady called. Said her trophy dog passed and she wanted a kitten to keep her other dog company, instead of another dog...as she was getting older and hurt too much still...when I told her I named the cat Carrie, cause I was saving it for Carrie, the lady had a story that seamed like it was meant to be about keeping her name Carrie...
I took xat Carrie to her house, cause I want to make sure she's not training pit bulls or anything, and she had trophy's and huge portraits of her animals everywhere, and the dog and cat immediately hit it off (cause we had dogs, Carrie wasn't scared) So, I think, that all this (disaster) I endured, if nothing else, was to get this lady this cat. Cause it was like the universe was all set in line when this adoption happened between Carrie and this lady. (It was free of course, id never charge for it, just make sure its a good home, ya know?)
We kept on touch for a little bit, but I know that cat saved that lady, and vice-versa....
And after these 3 cats of mine are done and gone from earth, I think I will take a few years to smile about these memories, but will most likely do it all over again...because cats are awesome! Dogs too...
People, not too much...lol..but I'm praying pets will teach them unconditional love, and hopefully humans can spread that to eachother from there...
      Hopefully.

There are times when I can't watch games that include cats, specially if something happens to them. I still haven't even play Stray fully yet, as most my time gets spent on either my own 5 cats or the fosters. But I think this one hits in the heart a bit since I work with a well known cat charity here in the UK, and ive been fostering cats/kittens for over 10 years, though I had to work at centre first to get a rough idea of what im in for. There are those can can really tug on the heart, but at the end of the day it's when all your hard work goes into that cat/kitten finding a new home. But there are those that can be very picky, which can be annoying but rewarding when they do find their furr-evr loving home. All mine are rescue, well loved and even times got put up with the odd hairball etc. I have three girls and two boys, named Mei, Hope, Yuki, Ellie and Jiji.....Ellie also has a sister called Charlie with also belongs to us but is my mums cat, and WAS my nans cat before she passed away over 4 years ago. Keep up the work Fisk look forward to more upcoming horror videos even though I won't play them myself.

This was absolutely gut wrenching and brought back some horrible memories. when I was 16 and had just got my first car, my uncle asked if I could take their dog to a nice neighborhood because they were being evicted and I stupidly said yes. I’ll never forgive myself for doing that. I still to this day I cry over it. Thinking back I just don’t understand why I would agree to do it. The memory of her watching me as I drove away shreds my heart into pieces and It will haunt me till the day I die.

My neighbor has been my friend for over 5 yrs, and her cats just passed away...shes 73 btw...so she went to the shelter, but had a hard time thro the adoption ppl with phone references and phone tag, but FINALLY got a 'ginger' girl named SUNNY. This cat, was ferral but the shelter never told her that, and after a week in her house, it escaped. She (the cat) came back to get food, but never let the lady pet her or really engage with her at all. Id visit her, and she'd cry, cause she missed and loved her cats, and couldnt pet this one. At the beginning of this month, she had to go get open heart surgery. The shelter took the cat back, to watch it for her (for a cpl hundred $ donation of course) but when she gets home, she wants the cat back...plus will adopt a more social cat that she can snuggle, and hopefully get the other cat inside more.
I've been cleaning her house while shes gone, and this story had me crying the whole time....Sunny must feel abandoned, but will feel so happy when returned!
I cannot believe the woman in this story knew her mistake and ditched a living, feeling family member because she didnt want to admit her mistake to the shelter.
NEVER EVER EVER DITCH AN UNWANTED ANIMAL!! U GET A PET, YOU MUST UNDERSTAND ITS FOR LIFE....and this made me mad to see this in a game.
There are coyotes, foxes, dogs, snakes, hawks, cars, meaner ppl and poisoned food that is a danger to an abandoned pet.
Everyone in this game is sick tho, i mean, who smothers their mother?!?! To even THINK about that is discusting!!
Proves this whole family has mental issues i guess, but i really hope ppl see the wrong doing in it, and not take it as what to do, because ill be honest, when you were saying you have to blur feet made me cry. Are humans that fkt up? Then i thought how doomed our race is due to rac*ism, and if we all could just be NICE to eachother, we may actually survive as a species, but if we treat our FAMILY like this, we're all doomed!
Idk if my neighbor will make it home, as shes not doing too well, but at least if not, the cat has a chance to find a loving family from the shelter, and the donation will help keep her fed until then for sure....NEVER EVER drop a pet off in the middle of nowhere.
Put yourself in others shoes and think how you would feel!
Same goes for you bad ppl in comment sections just being mean. Your in your mums basement at 40 yo for crying out loud! Shut up and grow up. Be kinder and maybe kindness will be delivered back, in the form of an apartment and a job so u have something better to put your energy twards...your future!!
Im so sick of negativity and cruelty...cant we all be good to ourselves and eachother? Its not hard...it should come naturally!

I had to talk to my therapist to sort out my emotions after my play through of this game. I had gone into it completely blind because I had heard it was a narrative driven game, and I VERY much a cat person. Long story short, I cried so hard that my coughing caused a nosebleed and made me pause about halfway through the game... This was a brutal story with a super important message about responsible pet ownership. My only criticism about the story is that they MAKE Dawn2 (or Sunrise as the after credits seen show her new name to be[sad to see Fisk stopped the recording before that scene]) forgive Olive for what she did. Listen, I was willing to forgive her for taking the original Dawn back inside and not knowing it wasn't the cat she had just adopted...But for her to finally realize it and then give us the Tod treatment from Fox & The Hound?! All to save face and not let people know what she did?! No! I am sorry... I feel that is unforgivable. Like, I am glad that Dawn2/Sunrise didn't give up in the street...but the devs could have found her a home with a nice happy family that knows how to treat their pets with respect and love. It is a cute game and a cute message at the end of the game about home being "where you are needed most"...and I will still play the game with my siblings and share my trauma with them when they come home next weekend...

Hands down nothing to do with the game but just these comments the craziest thing I've seen hands down and if I hadn't have seen it with my own eyes. I've been around chickens and turkeys a good bit of my life. I was in my 30's and helping my mother add another nesting box in her chicken coop that she had outside the coop on the ground. We picked the nesting box up to take it in the coop, well apparently some mice had built their little house underneath. I knew chickens would eat bugs. Folks, I'm telling you what I saw a chicken do with a full grown mouse when lifted up that box was straight up Jurassic Park! That chicken grabbed that mouse, tilted its head up, opened it mouth and goodbye mouse. Even my dad acted like he had never seen a chicken do that. We just kinda looked at each other like did we just see what we think we saw? Yep, that chicken just T Rexed that mouse. If I hadn't of seen it I probably wouldn't believe it but that hen just grabbed, head up and swallowed that mouse down whole!

It's the same in the US.
They kill off wildlife but also spread diseases among each other. Like feline herpes and HIV/AIDS.
We have a huge feral/stray problem our local shelters have a "kitten" season when most cats that haven't been caught, fixed, and released are having babies. My sister started fostering pregnant/postpartum strays and their kitten through one of the shelters at her work. The clients help clean, feed, and socialize them for adoption.
My BF, roommate and I adopted 2 brothers from one of her foster sets. Part of the adoption process is signing that you will NEVER let them outside. Our 2 boys have herpes from their mom and get flare ups where they need medication.

@@LeBongFairy I think the difference with the dingo is that they've become a balance to the ecosystem in the absence of large predators on the main continent since their primary prey leans towards roos/wallabies, and other medium to large herbivores, helping to manage roaming populations of wildlife where they become dangerous to humans and livestock and would otherwise be mass-killed BY humans because of tha (dingoes still invasive, but not destructive from what I understood; please correct, natives, where wrong!). They've adapted to it but aren't as viciously destructive in the way the cane toad, feral hogs, and feral cats are. Even the cane toad problem, however, is starting to find solutions as the native predators figure out how to eat them (the back-flip technique for example to avoid the poison glands!).

Reminds me of when my aunt's cat adopted her... so here's the weird thing.
She had two malamute huskies that had a bit of wolf in them, my family trained and taught them for most part but they were her dogs. They HATED cats, sick, old didn't matter would at least Growl or Lunge to show it. However, this Orange cat they named Fred/Duck came around. Both dogs accepted him as the family in a extremely strange manner. She would've lost her mind without a companion- a month later Bandit; was found dead the next morning. Vet said his heart likely gave out peacefully in his sleep. Lobo the brother went soon after but was put down rather due to a less peaceful fatal condition. Fred popped up and just became apart of the family in a extremely strange magical way. He was there for her when she mourned and helped her through it.
Thing is, those two boys still hated other cats until the end, just gave a weird exception to Fred.

    "What do cats dream about?"
I can't speak for cats' actual thoughts, they have no good way to communicate them to us, but my cat sometimes has nightmares where he seems to be fighting something (growls and hisses in his sleep), or where he's looking for someone (contact calls in his sleep). Knowing his history is that he was feral, and was captured with his queen and their kittens, I suspect those nightmares are from his life experiences - he may have been fighting off dogs, foxes, other cats, and maybe he's still looking for his queen and kittens after being separated from them after being captured by a rescue group. Those are the only dreams I'm reasonably sure that's what he's dreaming about, the rest of the time, I have no idea. I haven't seen any dreams that look like they're hunting behavior, there's no 'ekekek' in his sleep, but sometimes twitching paws. I do know he's very distressed when he wakes up from the dreams he's been making contact calls, and comes looking for me making contact calls, and crawls into my lap still making contact calls, and wanting a cuddle.
I've just gotten near the end of this video. I have nothing nice at all to say about Olive. Nothing. Realistically, when a cat is taken out of the environment and dumped into the wilderness, it doesn't survive. Do. Not. Ever. Do. This.

I have to agree with everyone else. As someone that lives on a dead end road in the middle of no where, I get a lot of dumped animals. I have 14 cats two dogs, a pig and a rooster. I don't have neighbors so where the heck did they come from?? People think , they dump and animal out in the middle of no where that they will find a house .... no they die of starvation or to a larger predator. But out here they find my house. The pig was a surprise, it's a tiny mini pig. I've had her for about 3 months and she's still tiny and cute. Smaller than an average house cat, litter trained. Yeah I'm still scratching my head over that one. I have to say this story line is shit. Instead of excepting responsibility for your own mistakes and taking the cat back to the shelter, rehoming, or just taking care of both cats, you chose to dump it. So many choices and so many people willing to take in a animal. Sorry I won't be buying this game for this reason. Just plain bad writing and story line. If you would have just tweaked it a little and made it the cats choice to scurry off some where people wouldn't be this upset.

Thankfully, in my area there’s rarely any snakes, maybe a few spiders, but they’re not deadly. I have this one cat, he already has an owner, my neighbor, but he’s been surviving for awhile! He was adopted a couple weeks ago. And he mostly stays outside, rarely going inside. Our neighborhood isn’t that big, but he usually stays close to home. Every so often he’d come around to my house, and we’d feed him. He eats as if he’s never been fed 😂 when we first saw him, though, he was as skinny as can be. That was the start of his adoption, and his owner has been taking care of him ever since. But I think the reason why he was never gaining barely any weight over the past few weeks is because he has either a fast metabolism, or he burns all that fat off within a day 😂 he’s not like a house cat, laying around all day. He exercises. That’s what you don’t have to worry about in outdoor cats, they can thrive on their own, if something goes wrong, then yeah, sure, bring them to the vet if you have the money. Sadly, my cat couldn’t be saved… she was attacked by a dog I presume, her wound was a gruesome sight. Her jaw was literally hanging on by one hinge, and we had to put her out of her misery by ourselves because we just couldn’t afford to get her to a vet and try and save her.

This game reminds me of my great grandma and the cat I rescued and brought to her. She told me she couldn’t care for a cat and wasn’t going to have one, but when I came back and said I still hadn’t found a home for her, my granny just said “what?? No she’s staying here.” Ringo is a full grown cat now and my Granny needs her more than ever as she gets older. She’s getting worse and I’m afraid for both me and the cat, but we’re taking care of her the best we can.

For the record, all putting bells on cats does is make them sneakier. Cats will eventually learn to compensate for any ringing so not having a bell actually helps local fauna more than not. Cats aren't so much domesticated as willingly cohabitating with himans. Lol.
Truthfully cats shouldn't go outside at all unless they're on lead imo. They're safer, healthier, and their quality of life is better.

I keep telling people it's a washed out Norwegian accent... but now I can send them this direction for comparison... hahaha...

I hate this. But in the sense that it so true.
People need to try out and become aware of the animals suffer in silence.
They cannot speak to us an figure things out.
Just like how the cat was constantly being treated horribly by random people.
Anytime I see that I'm just confounded on how people's inability to consider what their actions are doing.
Like what do you hope to accomplish by scaring a stray?
People don't realize even if the stray or wild for the most part thay are domesticated. And those mixed signals are incredibly hard to survive in.
To find food you shoe and combat them they're going to stop and you contributing towards that.
See a stray animal approach you and be friendly to shoot away harshly is only condemning it's a further suffering of starvation or the respond negatively to the next humans they see which would compound the issue further.
I hate the lack of sympathy. Or Awareness
And simply taking them out to a farm.
Where does Less cars or dogs is BS.
    Coping.
Does more of other dangerous you would expose them to and the elements.
Soft white and Danny to Winter comes by. Just being out and about just the rain cats can get sick too.
This shit had me crying so much. I can't stand how simple an yet are true this is an that reality hurts.

We made the commitment to rescue & care for each of them. Full stop. No "oops", no take-backs, no excuses. We made sure we had the resources (time, money, attention) before committing to our furry babies. My oldest cat is 22 years old, my youngest pair are 2 years old. This past winter a stray cat showed up at our house several times. Gave him food and water and on super cold nights I would put him in my basement with a litter box, food and water. I have an indoor cat that does not like other cats so being in the house upstairs was no option. I had posted online and contact animal control trying to find the owner, if there was one. It broke my heart that I couldn't keep him if he was a stray, so I offered what I could. A month went by and I got a message from the cats owner that he is a freeloader and during that time he kept losing his collar. They assured us he is well fed and cared for but that he is a mostly outdoor cat and they cant control where he goes. So, Willy the freeloading cat still comes by. I still give him pats and talk to him but no more food at our house so he doesn't visit as often 😅

This game made me cry.... it just reminded me of my cat who lived a full life with me and passed away a few years ago... his name was J.B. (Jet Black ) i miss him dearly.... but it also brought back bad memories of when i was a lot younger and my father and brother did this to a cat... dumped him... i could never forgive them and they did it under my nose while i was asleep ... a few weeks before it happened they were talking about trying to get rid of the cat because it pee'd everywhere in the house... so they wanted to put it into a shelter... so i told them i'll help look for shelters and find a good home... every day i called people and tried... then one night they did that to the cat because they gave up finding a shelter... they refused to tell me where they dropped the cat off and i drove everywhere all day for a a few weeks all over looking for that cat ... and nothing... i looked for so long ..... watching this made me ball my eyes out because i blamed myself that i couldn't find the cat.... i just hope it got to someplace safe but this haunts me to this day and i cry every time being reminded of it... this game was extremely tough for me

To answer the questions about cat's safety in Australia, it depends on where you live, and how close/far away from cities you are. Snakes are more unlikely to be seen the closer you get to the city. As someone who lives in the suburbs, the biggest threat to a cat is cars and dogs.

A comment about cat dreams: while we can't know for sure, we can make educated guesses based on knowledge of cat behaviour. My cats both have what I call 'milk dreams'. They make sucking sounds while making biscuits (kneading their paws). Their tongues are rounded to form a half circle around an imaginary nipple. Its obvious they are dreaming about suckling. There is plenty of other observable behaviour in their dreams like hissing, running, chirping and meowing... all stuff they do when awake. Watch what your cat does during the day and you'll be able to understand a little more of what they dream about 😊
Also... this game broke me 😭

Aussie here. A while back I saw my cat stalking an Eastern Brown in the back yard. They are the 2nd most venomous land snake and I could see it was getting a bit agitated. I called the cat and for the first time in his life he took notice and came to me. .. Phew, crisis averted. The snake wandered off and I never saw him again. The cat, as far as I know, was none the wiser.
