Freeze at 3:40 and it looks like Rob is pinching some bored old woman's mouth.
"I dislocated mah jaww aginn, sonny - be a darlin' n see if'n ya couldn't slip it back in there fer mee."
Yesssss, grandma...
That's adorable.
I wonder how Rob got home after the orangutan ate his car key.
He waited 24 hours for the key to come out the other end.
On a serious note, I wonder if young orangutans are better than young humans at not eating things they shouldn't.
He gave up and stayed living in the trees for decades and is still there now
I didn’t know what brachiating meant when I saw the title and I went like
WHAT
they seem pretty friendly. you wouldn't go into an enclosure with chimpanzees
No, you are right, but these were pretty used to human contact and they are generally very docile - Rob
you just made my day by responding, would not have expected it.
thank you for all the great work
Awesome video, the title also was a happy surprise, since I thought the video would be about something to with friends or cousins :)
I haven't seen keys in a pouch like that for a long time, reminds me of my grandfather in the 80s! I wonder what happened to them, maybe they weren't as practical as a keyring :D
And seeing this enclosure in the Adelaide zoo is just as nostalgic as well, just the same as I remember it.
When I was president there we built the new Orangutan and Tiger enclosure that is now there and I was delighted, in my term, to get rid of those ghastly old tiger and lion concrete/iron enclosures left over from a Victorian menageries - Rob
Yes they were a bit grim but still I remember being impressed as a kid by the big imposing look of the enclosures at the time! Thanks for all these uploads and being active replying to people about various things here, it's a real treat.
I was curious, I have never seen the kind of key pouch you reference. I saw at the end of the video, as you did. Was it similar to this? www.amazon.com/Rustic-Town-Leather-Holder-Pouch/dp/B01BF7Q3DE Can you find another example in the internet of what it looked like?
That was the day that Rob needed to call the locksmith.
I thought it was about children on play equipment with their real cousins. Sometimes we brachiate; we’re just bad at it when we grow up.
Extremely envious of that one Urangutan that Brachiated up Rob's leg :3
They are lovely little babies - full of fun, while the adults become pretty serious. subscribe at ua-cam.com/users/curiosityshow for loits more if you haven't already - Rob
3:29 Oh, what a relief... for a second I thought he was going to reach down to the nether regions and let her sniff his hand. 😄
Did you feel you were in any danger being so close to those orangutans? They are ridiculously strong!
Orangutans wouldnt hurt a fly. However they save animals and humans when one is in danger
brachiating on the jungle bars was my favorite activity as a kid
brave man handing your keys to a creature that can out climb you!
The old ones are pretty sedate but young Orangs can be very mischievous - Rob
Umm, this is 2018, I identify as an orangutan, I’m highly offended
What a cute video. I wouldn't mind a wallet like one of those. Haven't seen one in years
Thanks, subscribe at ua-cam.com/users/curiosityshow for loits more if you haven't already and that set of keys was filmed 40 years ago, so you are probably right there- Rob
With regards to tree climbing, I bet they also have incredible upper body strength.
Lovely
They are lovely animals, and badly endangered as their forests are felled to plant palms - Rob
@@CuriosityShow it's a global issue. In India there are strong laws to protect wild animals but illegal activities are not rare .
Cool
Good stuff
A great episode ! Again !
(Stay on the ground, Rob !) x
@@CuriosityShow A great segment, Rob. Not many people get the chance to do that.
the resemblance is uncanny.
Ooh, sounds kinky 😜
They looks similliar
*sings*
Oh, there's the kings of the swingers, oh, a couple of VIPs...
Not my cousins.
:)
The title almost sounds like you're saying that monkeys are our cousins, is that correct? Please answer this question, do you believe humans are related to monkeys? You better be careful how you answer!
Homo Sapiens (modern humans for the less informed) are but one branch of the Primate order of the class Mammalia, all of which bear a genetic similarity in the mid to high 90% level
Hey guys why is this video letterboxed?
Curiosity Show ran from 1972-1990, so the screen ratio was 4:3. UA-cam either stretched 4:3 to 16:9, distorting figures a bit, or it chops off the 16:9 sides to leave the 4:3 in the middle with two black sides - Rob
CuriosityShow Hey Rob, this would have aired in a 4X3 aspect ratio and all your videos are in this aspect ratio why is this one letterboxed? Is the original source letterboxed, if not I would suggest a re- upload. Note I am watching on an iPad which is in a 4X3 aspect ratio.
CuriosityShow I just noted most of your videos are like this, but some are not. E.g ua-cam.com/video/E1lp_Ph79WM/v-deo.html it seems that on a 16X9 screen it is not noticeable but on a 4X3 it is.
Ditroya, the video is playing in it's proper aspect (4:3) on my equipment (Samsung Tab/ chromecast), maybe the ipad app is distorting it. On a 16:9 screen its displayed as a 4:3 image within the 16:9 frame, I.e. black bars at each side, which is correct.

Still loving this show many years after its end
6Q4 Ninja yes it is, ran for many years in the 70s. Originated in Sth Australia iirc with cast variations over time but Rob and Deane were the backbone.
We didn’t have this in the States, either. Very informative and enjoyable to watch!
mulgerbill It ran from 1972 to 1990. :)
