Per what I've been told by Orbit support, the system uses Weather Underground data and data from your selected weather station to generate its forecast/past weather data. It would be nice if you had a bit more control over what weather information the system uses. Having a weather station at my home I have very accurate precipitation data for my location, but even using my PWS it still appears to also be using Weather Underground (or something) to record precipitation from past days. The result is that I get precipitation numbers that don't match how much rain actually fell at my home. It's pointlessly diluting the accuracy of its weather history by pulling information in from other sources. If I could just tell it to only use my weather station, it would have much more accurate data.
Adam, to forecast it still uses a national forecast service for your local, not sure if it's still NOAA or not but that's what it used to be. If you have connected your weather station to PWS Weather and you have selected it in the App, then it should be using your station's measurements for historical data and if it's not then they should look into it.
It seems that the weather forecast for rain is hardly accurate. Today the app forecasts .75" of rain. My local forecast from Weather Underground forecasts .11" of rain, so no watering is scheduled. Last year I relied solely on smart watering and my lawn went dormant. So, if I change the rain percentage to 100% that should avoid a rain delay? Smart watering just doesn't seem to work well,
Because of the variability in forecasts I adjust the thresholds on my smart watering delay to be 50% or more and .25" of rain before it will set a delay. I feel like if both of those conditions are met there's a good likely hood I will get some measurable rain. Maybe that would work for you too?
I'm not sure I follow your comment. By default it uses global satellite weather and the PWSWeather.com network of stations and the address you enter for the timer. If you have your own or know of a personal weather station that is connected to the PWSWeather.com network you can choose to use that station as your preferred station. Hope that helps.
@@JoshWheelers I live in KY and have my address put in on each B-hyve but the weather stations only show 4 in Kansas. We have 5 B-hyves and 3 show its currently raining and a temp of 71. 2 show its sunny and 81. Our current temp is sunny and 76. I turned on the personal weather station option, but it still only shows Kansas.
1:42 for selecting personal weather stations in the Bhyve app.
Thanks for the vid!

Josh... why do u have like 10 DEVICES listed? Are they copies, or do u own 10 properties u have in a group?
I used to test a lot of timers, each one with different location settings, watering schedules and various other settings looking for bugs and whatnot.

Can I use any pets station close to me, how to find what data it publishes..? Or should I not use it and leave it blank if I don't own one...?
You didn't even explain the purpose of adding a pws, what does it do differently to not selecting one?
Would be so cool if it had weather stations in other places outside of Kansas. WTF, what a worthless feature.

How do you add address to the timer
@@EDOG3408 Go to My Behyve in the bottom right of the app, then Devices > Select your timer. You should have an address box there.
