In this video I wanted to share how I mix up my new Behr/Glidden Pouring Medium mix for the Blooms Technique as well as show you how I mix up my paints regardless of the pouring medium I am using. I get a lot of questions on how I mix up paints so I hope this is helpful! I hope you enjoy watching this half as much as I enjoyed creating it! 😊 Thanks so much for watching! ❤️❤️
A lot of what you see being created on my channel when ready will end up in my Etsy store. Some pieces if they translate well to digital will also make it to my RedBubble and Society6 shops so if you see a design you like please check out my links below.👇🏻😊💜
Products Used:
PM Mix:
Base - Behr Premium Plus Interior/Exterior Hi Gloss Deep Base (8300): Found at Home Depot
Glidden Premium Base 3 in Semi-Gloss (In Canada its the Accent Base): Found at Home Depot
Varnish - Jo Sonja Gloss Varnish: josonja.com or Dick Blick online
PM Mixed 2:1:1 Behr 2 parts/Glidden 1 part /Varnish 1 part
NOTE: Did a quick test subbing the Jo Sonja with the Minwax One Coat water base clear gloss varnish and it works great! I think the Varathane Triple Thick water base clear gloss varnish will work just as well too. So, if you don’t have the Jo Sonja have no fear in substituting! I did note the ratios using the Minwax made the PM a bit thicker so maybe do either 1.5 parts of the Glidden or the Varnish instead of 1 to thin it down or use thicker, either way. This PM mix regardless of varnish used works best with the AUS Floetrol CA, so far in my testing it doesn’t play nice with the US Floetrol CA, maybe some of you can get it to work though! ☺️💜
Colors Used:
ColourArte Primary Elements Snap Dragon: colourarte.com
Atelier Interactive Red Black: Found at Dick Blick online or Jerry’s Artarama online
Golden Fluid Interference Gold: Found at Dick Blick or Jerry’s Artarama online
PM to Paint measurement (estimate):
1.5oz (45ml) PM to between 1/4 tsp (1.25ml) to a 1/2 tsp (2.5ml) paint to start. If too thin add a little more paint (or even a gel gloss), if too thick add a little more PM to thin more.

NOTE: If you can’t find these brands or are in a different country the components you want are an untinted base house paint (base c or d, base 3 or 4 whichever is lowest, deep base or ultra deep base or neutral base) plus a water based polyurethane gloss varnish to make up your Pouring Medium. If you want to try a more traditional pouring medium base because you can’t get certain components, TOTALLY go for it and give it a try 😃 it’s YOUR Art after all! 💜
Hi Jodi.I was having trouble with the pillow paint.UPDATE I am happy to tell you that I got the pillow paint you showed it works Glidden I got the semi gloss as they didn't have the satin I hope it works out I did a test seems to not swallow my paint..Your so talented and a kind person who cares about teaching others it's a big job with editing and answering everyone..Thank you and happy new year..I am in nor cal and we have not had rain here like this in over 5 years..
@@carolynbrew3770 I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble with your pillow still. I’ve not used behr or SW as a pillow so I really can’t comment on their performance other than what I stated before can be issues with pillow paint in general. When I was first learning this technique I went through a number of different brands until I found the ones that work well for me and you see me use here on this channel. If you are able to get what I use then I recommend trying it but if not then as you experiment only buy quarts to try for any new pillow in case you end up not liking it. 💜
@@ThePaintedDreamer hi read above thank you
Love that snap dragon!!!!
This video "everyone " is loaded with info. Pretty much worth sharing. Thank you Jodie 🤩🤩🤩
🙏🏻☺️💜 Thank YOU! 🥰
I went and bought every single thing you've shown lol. You're my guru!! ❤😊
Oh awesome! Have fun and let me know how it goes!! I’d love to see your progress 😃🤗💜
Thank you Jodi, this was so informative you’re the best teacher. I’m subscribed 🥰🤗🥰❤️
Thank you so much Ilene! That means a lot and I’m so glad it was helpful! ☺️💜
Wow, that was a lot of effort from your part to show us, step by step your PM recipes. Thank you for that.
You’re very welcome 🤗
Just starting this colorful journey, thank you for a great video.
You’re welcome Sarah 🤗 have so much fun on your fluid art journey! 💜
Again...thank you, thank you, thank you! So helpful! ❤️ You rock!
You’re very welcome Catherine, I’m so glad it’s helpful for you 🤗💜🌺
Yes and double yes! Super helpful. I watched another UA-cam tutorial and I thought I had the wrong pm which is Behr. I was so confúnsaled! So thank you for all your great information. And, your a cool person on top of it all.
You’re very welcome! There are a number of different untinted base paints that can be used for this technique, I like to experiment with different ones on this channel but everything I do show I feel works well. Have fun! 🤗💜
@@ThePaintedDreamer I forgot to mention that my Behr caused the paint to be super thick so I used some JoSo and Gliddan.I will check them again today and try the GAC 800 if needed.
@@mewtbaby Yea that behr 8300 is super thick, I would cut it with the Glidden to make it thinner and also to help the Glidden along as well. You could try 2 parts Glidden, 1 part behr, 1 part JS, I remember that being a little thinner but if your PM still ends up a bit thick, use more fluid paints than tube paints with it as the tubes will just thicken it back up. GAC 800 will help but adding a lot won't benefit you either. It's a fine line with the consistency.
@@ThePaintedDreamer one more thing! Have you ever had your paint smell? Wow gross. They smell like rotten eggs. I couldn’t figure out what the smell was coming from I’ve been in other people spaces and never smelled bad paint like this. I pinpointed it in the floetrol. To late though I had mixed it in one of the paints and the whole place stinks so bad. Has this ever happened to you?
@@mewtbaby I have not actually had this happen to me but that is definitely an indicator that something went bad! Eeek sorry to hear that at happened to you :(
Great video Jodie! I want to try adding the one part of Glidden to my mix. You are getting some great results.
Thanks Mandy! Yea give it a go, see how you like it! I like adding it as I feel thins the mixture a bit more and gives me better control 😃💜
Thanks for all your work.
Absolutely Sherry! You know I love this stuff 😂😂 .. thanks for all your support I appreciate it ☺️💜

Thank you! That really helped! 🌹🌹🌹
Awesome! I’m so glad it helped! 💜
Wow that Glidden is white!! I can only get accent base here, I may try it.
You’re in Canada right? I believe the Glidden premium accent base is the same as our base 3 in the US. Glidden does have a little titanium in it but don’t let that detract you, I think it still works great! ☺️
Very very usefull, thanks!
You’re welcome Carolle, I’m glad it helped 🤗
Hey Jodie - another great video. So, the Behr is clearer, but too thick as it comes from the can. The glidden has a bit of a whitish tint, but the consistency is better, so you mix them to get the best of both worlds. Do I have that right. But you can use either on its own if you adjust for consistency? I'm looking at the picture you posted in group, and it has some yellowish color and some turquoise, so you used more for that image than what you mixed up here, is that right? Thanks again for you time and patience, you really do a good job on your videos.
Hi Kent! Thanks so much! I responded in the group but I’ll respond here too in case anyone else has the same question ☺️ .. you are correct I mix both the Glidden & Behr together to get the best of both worlds out of these paint bases and it helps with consistency but you can definitely use each on their own also, they work great! You would just need to adjust for consistency in the parts. The picture I posted in group was really just an example of what the PM can do it wasn’t all the paints I mixed up in the video. I just wanted you to get the visual. Let me know if you need anything else! Thanks again! 😃
Thank you for this! ❤️
You’re welcome Christina! 💜
I thought I had watched most of your videos but stumbled upon this one just today. I see that you've experimented using a few different pouring medium recipes. I'd love to know your most preferred. I had switched to using the Behr 8300 and Minwax Poly but it seems so thick (and I had been thinning with more poly). Now I'm wondering about adding the Glidden Base 3 to it also to thin it. Or should I use one of your other recommended products to thin? I need ONE recipe to stick to, lol. I ♥ your videos!
Hi Becky! I have a love hate with the Behr 8300 and it is really thick. I found if I added too much Poly with it, it would just crack like nobodies business when dried. I love using it as a thickener now for my other paints. If when I mix them up and after they’ve rested any are still on the thin side I’ll add in a dollop of the Behr to thicken it up. I really did like that combo with the Glidden base 3 but that Glidden has some titanium in it and will mute any iridescents or pigments to a soft sheen so keep that in mind if you try it.
After experimenting some more with the SW HGTV Infinity and then now the Valspar Ultra, I’m sticking with either of these, they both work really well, not too thin and not too thick I’m finding. The Infinity is getting pricey though it’s now about $50 a gallon at my Lowe’s. The Valspar Ultra high gloss is almost half the price for a gallon and just as good so I would say one of these depending on your budget, they are both really awesome! The Infinity I love with the jo sonja, the Valspar Ultra I love with the Varathane Triple Thick. If you happen to get a thicker base can (it happens) you can certainly try the poly with either as that’s nice for thicker bases. I’ve used the poly with the Infinity and it’s beautiful! I didn’t try it with my Valspar because I have a thinner can so it would have been too thin mixed up so I went with the triple thick. I hope this helps! 🤗💜
@@ThePaintedDreamer ... You are so kind to answer with detail and I thank you greatly! I've only done a few with the Behr / Minwax Poly and got only a few cracks but they seemed to be isolated to the CA which sunk a bit. I'm sure that's a consistency thing but I truly hate it when the CA sinks like that. The epoxy resin coat conceals it - and if there are slight cracks in it, I just paint them or cover with a marker which works fine. Just adds another step unfortunately. I will definitely try the Valspar combo next. Keep inspiring those of us who are still learning! ♥♥
Good day Jodi Here in France i dont find all those product so, i have a paint Base C and i add a wood polyuréthane varnish and to make it a bit more fluid i add some basic médium and it worked well thank for your explanation....

Absolutely, it’s my pleasure! ☺️💜
Thank you for all the help and support..I know there's a vedio but what can I put on my boards so the wood doesn't show.. thanks again.. love theses vedios
You’re welcome Carolyn. You want to prime any wood you use beforehand with a primer as most wood will show through your paint without it and some may even warp if you don’t prime. You can use kilz or zinsser either will work 😊
@@ThePaintedDreamer thank you again
Great video Jodie ✨🤗 I use the Behr 2:1 polycrylic as pm , 1 thing I noticed is on my big pieces the lines fade a little or loose there construction. Have you seen this ? Have a beautiful Sunday ✨❤️☕️
Thanks Jaxx!! I have not noticed any of the lines or webbing fading as of yet. Everything has stayed pretty solid. If ever I see something weird going on with the mixes I’ll definitely let you know! Have a great day! ☺️💜
Thank you for all your videos. They have helped me so much. Where are you from?
You’re very welcome Janet, I’m so glad they’ve helped you! I’m about 35 miles outside of Chicago in Illinois 😊
Hi Jody 1st off I love your videos they are so educational. My question is which is the right triple thick to use for my PM Varathane Transparent Gloss Clear, or Varathane Transparent satin clear or Varathane Transparent semi Gloss
Hi Albert! Thank you so much, I’m really glad my videos have helped you 😃. For the Varathane triple thick you want the gloss clear 😊
Hi Jody! I got the satin pillow paint and then got the Glidden untainted base 3 satin by mistake instead of the semi gloss. Didn’t want to go back to Home Depot, so I kept it. It turned out ok. I was surprised. It also mixed well with my primary elements too. What do you think? Next batch I get for Pouring Medium will be semi gloss.Trying to follow your recipe.
Hi Lynn, I’m glad it worked out ok. I would think that it would be ok but maybe next time get a quart of the base 3 in semigloss to try and see if you notice a difference and see if you prefer one over the other. 😃
Good morning!! I have everything except the Jo Sonja....it’s on order. Can I use minwax wood conditioner or should I wait? Thanks for your videos. You are a great teacher!
Good Morning Melody, Happy New Year! So the Minwax Wood Conditioner you don’t want to use as your varnish in the PM mix since it’s a pre stain conditioner and mostly used in the US CA recipe but what you could use is Minwax One Coat Clear Gloss Varnish, Minwax Polycrylic Clear Gloss Varnish (just tested this, video to come on Sunday 😬) or Varathane Triple Thick Clear Gloss Varnish .. any one of these would be a good replacement for the jo sonja. There probably are others but I haven’t testsd them ... yet 😉💜
@@ThePaintedDreamer Greeting, I've listened to the Videos you suggest and am reading here that the Minwax is used in the US CA recipe, may I ask what the other ingredients used in US Cell Activator recipe in addition to Minwax please? I live in Israel and it's a big challenge to gather all the ingredients from around the world, for these techniques. Thank you Jenny
@@Durga695 Hi Jenny, of course .. the additional ingredients besides the Minwax wood conditioner used in the US floetrol cell activator recipe I use are US floetrol, Amsterdam Titanium White paint, a PVA glue (I use Lineco but you could also use Elmer’s glue all) and Amsterdam Titanium White acrylic ink. I have a video #16 of what these look like and how I mix this recipe up if that will help.
I’m wondering though, since you’re in Israel and have to import the ingredients anyway, would it be easier for you to just get the Australian floetrol because that’s what is actually used and works the best. You just need that and then Amsterdam Titanium White paint or even another brand Titanium White to use as cell activator.
The US floetrol cell activator recipe was put together as an alternative if you couldn’t get the Australian floetrol. If you can’t no worries I was just curious! Let me know if you have any other questions! 😊
@@ThePaintedDreamer Very kind of you, I am going to look at video#16 and see if I have all the ingredients. I have US Floetrol and glueAll. Amsterdam Titanium white. and Miniwax, which is great. I need to see the pouring medium. No possibility of getting Bher, or Gliddin..But Vivid Enamel Colorarte and Rastoleum. Trip thick...finally I should come out with more than a flop. thank you again.
@@Durga695 Sounds like you have everything for the US floetrol recipe then, you can totally omit the Amsterdam titanium white acrylic ink, it helps thin the mixture isn’t absolutely necessary as long as you have the rest. If you need to thin the mixture just a bit more floetrol. I know others that use that vivid enamel and the rustoleum triple thick for their PM and are successful so hopefully that works out for you combined with the CA recipe .. have fun and good luck! 😊💜
Jody you are awesome! How much do you make ahead of time and is there an expiration point on a PM?
Aww thank you Dave! I usually make about 16oz of PM at a time and use it until it’s gone. I’d say it’ll be ok for a couple months I know I’ve use it for at least that. Just stir it real good each time you use it as it will separate. If it starts to smell weird or look weird it’s probably past it’s prime. 😊
How do you seal and prime your wood substrates to prevent warping?
Hi Cheryl ☺️ .. I actually have a video on that, it’s one of my earlier ones but in summary if you have Liquitex Professional gesso you could use that. Some gessos aren’t made for wood but I know the liquitex is. You could also use a primer like kilz or zinsser.. any way you choose I use either a sponge brush for smaller substrates or a paint brush for bigger and make sure the coats are thin so there are no visible lines. Hope this helps! ☺️💜
I’m trying to figure out what to use for my pillow paint. Please tell me what you use. Thanks
I go between PPG Multipro in eggshell and Glidden premium in Satin both found at Home Depot. The Glidden is thinner and works better for me in winter while the PPG is a bit thicker and works better for me in Summer. I've experimented with others but those are my go to.
Hey Jodie I love your tutorials👍 do you ever have crazing or cracking in your pate?
Thank you so much Hana! The only time I get any crazing or cracking is when I leave too much paint on the canvas, meaning I didn’t spin or tilt enough or if I do a pour over and the painting underneath it is a bit thick. It’s been awhile since this has happened I’m really trying to get most of my paint off so I don’t really get crazing or cracking normally.
Thank you Judie!! I will keep watching and Learning from you you’re awesome.
Thank you for this tutorial, I will definitely save this for future use. Question: how do you thin the house paint used for the pillow?
You’re welcome Kathy! You can use some GAC 800 to thin it or even US floetrol if you need to 😊
@@ThePaintedDreamer Thanks, Jodie! I apologize for past misspellings of your name and for any I may do in the future... :)
@@Kathy-Carr oh my gosh no need to apologize, seriously, it’s totally ok 🤗💜💜💜
Have u ever done a video pouring on tiles? If not would you do one?
I have not yet, but I will absolutely put it on my list! I’ve got 4x4 tiles here and also some new hexagon tiles .. any preference? Thanks for the request! 😃💜
Wanting to do a pour painting on an OUTDOOR wood table top. Can you mix this with exterior and what might be best way to seal? Resin?
I’ve never done anything for outside use and weatherproofing so I really couldn’t say
Hi, I know this is an old video but you seem to be very knowledgeable on blooms. I have Jo Sonya gloss varnish and then when I bought my Colour Arte pigments, I got the Vivid enamel with it. When mixing my pouring medium, would the Vivid enamel replace the deep base untinted paint?
Hi Joey, I’ve actually never used the vivid enamel so I don’t know that it would replace the untinted paint. If you have it I say experiment with it and see what happens and how it works for you, maybe you can use that instead if you like how it looks 🤗
@@ThePaintedDreamer Ok, thank you. Crossing my fingers!!
I hope you can help.... the recipe i was given calls for the berh and minwax polyacrylic, but it was a bit matt on the finish and i don’t like the texture. It didn’t call for the Gilden. Isn’t the gilden you are using the same thing as the berh deep base. Sorry i’m confused and trying to sort what to try next. Thanks in advance.
Hi Josh! I know it can be confusing, believe me .. there are a number of untinted paint bases that work well for the blooms and not all are exactly the same, some have more titanium than others so will mute certain paints a bit. The Behr 8300 with the Minwax shouldn’t be drying matte, Behr 8300 has got to be one of the glossiest bases out there. Is it the Behr 8300 deep base you are using or another Behr? What pillow are you using and sheen? What type of paints are you using, any matte paints and what type of varnish is the Minwax is it gloss or something else? These can all contribute to the dried results but I’ve never seen the Behr 8300 dry matte. The Glidden actually has a bit more titanium than the Behr so you can use them either separately or both together but they won’t give you the same results if you use them separately even though they are technically untinted base paints. Does this make sense? Also what cell activator are you using? Is your whole painting matte or just certain sections where the CA paint is? If it’s certain sections then it’s probably your cell activator and that’s just how it dries. Once you varnish or resin all that becomes a non issue really. Let me know ☺️
@@ThePaintedDreamer thank you for the response. They pillow is Gilden essentials semi gloss white. The poly is semi-gloss actually, so that must be it. It is def the same behr. Do you find better results with the Gilden Base 3 added?
Yea that could very well be it but it could also partly be your cell activator too since it’s more matte then the Behr but try switching out your poly. Adding the Glidden into the mix will reduce the glossiness a little of the Behr since the Glidden is a semi gloss. I used it that way to have more control over my cells. I resin/varnish over everything so how it dried for me wasn’t a concern but if you aren’t doing that and want a bit more gloss then yea try switching out the poly 😊
Jodi, I have the Glidden I actually bought by mistake, I thought it was too white. I see when you’re mixing it’s not affecting your color saturation at all, is that correct? I’ve been following you for a while, so I trust you. I have 4 gallons of the HGTV ultra deep base I purchased when it went on clearance, so I want to use that of course. Just wondering how the Glidden you work with that base. Do you change PM according to the surface you’re using? Sorry so many questions, just happen to be getting ready to make a batch for Christmas Baubles. And that Snapdragon is just a glorious color, one of my absolute favs.
Hi Teresa! No worries on the questions, ask away! Yea as long as you don’t add too much PM the Glidden shouldn’t effect your color saturation. It is a bit whiter than the Behr and the HGTV but when you mix it up the colors only pale “slightly” it’s hardly noticeable and when they sit for a day or so it comes back, and dries beautifully! I love the Glidden so much because it seems to dry exactly as wet, no cell shifting whatsoever, even the microscopic ones. I sometimes get that with the Behr if used alone, maybe it’s a bit more slippery if that makes sense or still a bit too much paint left in the middle. I use the different PMs mainly for different effects I want not necessarily the surface I’m pouring on. I do notice that the pigments and iridescent paints work better in either the Behr or Behr/Glidden PM as opposed to just the Glidden. The Glidden kind of mutes it a bit but still a beautiful effect, just different. That snap dragon I have got to go get more before they discontinue it, gahhh I love it!! Hope this helps! ☺️💜
Thank you responding, my HGTV base is a lot creamier than my Behr. I just did 2:1 with Jo Sonja. Do you have an email where you answer more in depth questions?
Sure, you can email me at thepainteddreamer13@gmail.com if you want or message me on Facebook either will work ☺️
Hi, I have a question, I can't find that material in Spain, Sherwin Williams. I just need to know if it is wall paint. because it is that the videos do not see it well.
Hi Uma, Yes, the sherwin Williams is untinted wall paint. You want a higher sheen, semi gloss or gloss and you want the lowest base meaning whatever they use to tint colors real dark or black. The other part of the PM is the varnish, you want a water based polyurethane clear gloss varnish.
@@ThePaintedDreamer gracias!!!!
or is it like a wall sealer ???
@@umaumatra8448 I don't know what a wall sealer is so I can't comment as we don't have that here that I'm aware of.
Hey Jodi!!! I love your videos, your a rockstar! I can’t remember if I commented on your other video but my question is, can I substitute the jo Sonja for polycrilic? I have been getting great results with your guidance but I always get some type of issue with drying. I use golden, liquitex, and deco art paints. Thanks ❤️
Hi Elizabeth! 😃👋🏻 Thank you so much girl that means a lot! You can totally use the polycrylic instead of jo sonja. I’ve even used the Varathane (regular and triple thick) so you definitely have choices with the varnish. Just keep in mind if your untinted base is on the thicker side pair it with a thinner varnish and same if it’s on the thinner side maybe a thicker varnish will work better. Have fun! 🤗💜
@@ThePaintedDreamer thank you so much for getting back to me! I have been using Behr 8300, and polycrilic 2:1. Glidden premium as my pillow. Do you think I should add one part
Oops, I accidentally sent that. Do you think I should add 1 part of the glidden untinted primer to that medium? I’m getting some issues with drying.
Untinted paint AND primer
@@elizabethgueringer2712 Give it a try and see how you like it, it certainly can't hurt :)
new subscirber here😄. So many videos but nof so many artists who are so helpful and take the enourmous amount of time to help us. I've read the whole transcript, but didn't see my question.. I live in South America and our paint is different. All paint is made to mix with 25-30% water so it comes very very thick in the can. If I delute it, it is runny almost like water. I never know thow thick this paint should be before starting my recipes. Can give me an idea? Also I did get minwax, but my paint cracked when dry, even the thin edges. I cannot get the laquer so I'm using hard ware store laquer, but the best brand they have. I did get some floetrol American, Aussie is impossible. Tried he glue/water and it didnt work for me, But I'm still experimenting to see if I can get cells. I cannot not get Rusoleum triple thick poly, but I can get regular polyurathane. I'm in same boat trying to piece together something that will work. I've been doing this atleast a month and have done nothing but experiments🤪, If you have advice I'd love to hear it. You are awsome, and a gifted person. Bless you and keep safe .i hopd to contribute to this community and not just take, i I ever get beyon the mixing level lol.
Hi and welcome to my channel! 👋🏻🤗. I know the frustration of trying to find paints and experimenting! I did a lot of that to come up with what worked well here in the US. I’ve encountered untinted house paints that have been pretty runny to thick like custard. I try to pair a varnish with it that makes sense. A thinner paint will require a thicker varnish whereas as thicker paint will require a thinner varnish to make up your pouring medium. I also try to keep in mind my pouring medium if it’s on the thicker side then fluid color paints will work better with it than tube paints. Same if your pouring medium is on the thinner side I’ll use more tube paints with it then. I’ve learned your mixed up paints don’t need to be an exact consistency, you just don’t want them runny or super thick, anything in between will probably work. I try to show my mixed up paints in each of my videos so you can see the consistencies I’m working with. Also, I have a few different pouring mediums mixing videos and tests and show the consistencies there for a visual so you can get an idea. For your US Floetrol cell activator if you are able to get the Minwax Prestain conditioner (red can) that works best with it however I have gotten the US floetrol to work with just Amsterdam paint at a higher ratio but it’s still finicky. As long as your varnish is a clear gloss water based polyurethane it should work. It’s a lot of trial and error but once you get something that works well that’s when the magic starts to happen. I hope this helps!! 💜💜
Wow! An answer in 4 hours. You must eat and sleep Acrylic Pouring. I've been looking at your vids. I think it's interesting I don't see anything about thinning with water, which is what I've learned in the past and what "everyone" does. I get the feeling you don't agree with that, even though these are all water based products. Can you tell me why if you don't reccomend water? I have ALL kinds of paint products, some that even ate my plastic cup lol. I'll never get to pouring, I'll just be the resident experimentor lol. The consistency is what gets me in trouble with the paint here. Maybe I should not be putting water in to thin it to what I think it would be in the US. Also no wood conditioner here. Can't ship anthing with those caustic chemicals, and I can't believe we have some kind of restriction on a lot of VOC. I did get some gac, have access to really good professional tube paints, and can get Amsterdam from Amazon, also floetrol. Going to just experiment as you said and hope to come up with something workable. The CA is a big problem, but I'm going to try the flo/Ams recipe and hope that will work, since I won't be using all the same products. I did find, intersesting to me, that a few drops of 99% alcohol worked with the Amsterdam Titanium white/glue recipe as Ca, though it wouldn't work without the alcohol. Good luck with this channel. Don't understand why you don't have more subscibers. We need to spread the word! You are great! Maureen in Colombia
@@userMarinainCol Hi Maureen, I usually reply when I'm able to, some days it's quicker than others is all :). I don't typically recommend water because using too much can break down your paints and you'll have a mess with your paints. Using a little bit is probably ok but what determines the amount I can't say so I usually recommend acrylic extenders like GAC 800 or any other over water. Some paints can take a lot of water like Amsterdam but house paints typically do not. I'm glad you are experimenting to find what works best for you, have fun! :)
Do you have a video of the results that people get with American floetrol? I don't have Australian photo right now but I do have all of those paints.
I do Crystal 😊, if you go to my channel home page and then click on playlists I have a playlist list called US Floetrol Cell Activator and I have a number of videos there where I use it as well as a couple mixing videos on two different recipes I have used. Also in the next week or so I’ll have a video put together where I use US floetrol as my PM AND cell activator I just need to edit it but I was really pleasantly surprised with the results so look for that one too. Hope this helps! 💜
First of I edited this my painting "s we're being swallowed up my to thin of pillow paint and with Jodi help I think color wasn't thick enough..So I asked What do you recommend for pillow paint I tried a bejerman Moorewhite paint to thin,it wasn't a infinity brand.. I tried Behr I guess because of the high enamel it's like using Deco art enamel..cells up I have tried all different types of con.of colored paint..
I saw your edited comment that you’ve resolved your issue with the Glidden pillow 🤗 what I recommend is what I have used on this channel since I’ve tested it myself and have experience with it 💜
@@ThePaintedDreamer I couldn't get it for awhile so I had to go with other brands but I finally got tired of waiting for my store to have it so Yes I used it and seems to be working..I have been really sick with some kind of bronchitis..Thank you for all your help.. Went back to fix comment because other s may read .. From now on I won't do it.. ♥️
@@carolynbrew3770 I hope you feel better soon! 💜
I mean the jars to make medium both Sherwin Williams and the bear. Is that paint, enamel, varnish?
I answered below 😊 in your other question the paint is an untinted house paint and the varnish is a water based polyurethane clear gloss varnish.
@@ThePaintedDreamer muchiiiisimasss gracias ❤️
White ?? Is that what you mean without dyeing? Forgive my ignorance ... ❤️
@@umaumatra8448 That's ok :) .. white would still be a color so if your base is tinted white it will pale your colors significantly. You want an untinted house paint something they use at the store to tint very dark or black colors, you want that base :)
Found it! Yay! 😂
Oh good, I answered you over at your other comment 🤗💜
HI Jody.. My home depot only has the Glidden Premium Base accent (not 3) in semi-gloss.. is this OK ? or do I need the Base 3 absolutely
Hi Vivian 🤗 since you asked about accent base I’m going to assume you’re in Canada .. and then the answer is yes that accent base is basically the same as our base 3 here in the US. Hope this helps! 💜
@@ThePaintedDreamer thank you so much for replying so quickly.. yes I'm in Canada.. great ! I will get the Accent base then.. and thanks for all your videos which give me confidence..
@@vivianedevairedepasse4868 You’re welcome Viviane, have fun 🤩
Hello Jodi , Can I ask the reason for using 2 deep base ( untinted ) paints ? Also, I see you have a Kaukauna cheese container 😀 Are you here in Wisconsin ?!
Hi Penny, I’m actually in Illinois outside of Chicago and I had such an addiction to that cheese haha! I used to use two whenever I was incorporating the Behr 8300, while super clear that base is it’s also very slippery as it would distort my cells if I didn’t cut it with another untinted base paint. You can totally use either one by itself with the varnish but just know the Behr is known to be a bit slippery (at least for me). Hope this helps 💜
Is your Behr colored or untinted?
The Behr in this video was the Behr 8300 high gloss deep base so it’s untinted. All my videos will have images of the products used either at the beginning or end of the video as well as in the description box below each video a detailed description of it and where you can find it 😊
Home Depot does not have the semi gloss base 3. In fact, no one does 😭
Do you mean of the Glidden Premium? Maybe they are out as I’ve never not seen it at any Home Depot I’ve been to. Unless there’s a paint shortage or something I don’t know about they should have it otherwise they can’t tint paint for anyone. Are you in the US or Canada Nancy?
