This isn't about where England were before Southgate. It's about his tactics and management as a coach. Micah is spot on, the players he has make him look good regardless. Based on the squad England has, they will reach the Semi-Finals in the international tournaments.
Micah is spot on, they want too much Premier League and they are biased They have a good squad but they don't have a good manager/tactician Deschamps is world class manager
Used to play as a striker at a half decent level on Saturdays then pub league on Sundays. On the Sunday one season we came up against a team you could tell were really bad from their results. I had the exact same mindset as Lineker and Shearer. There’s goals here. 6-0 up at H/T I’ve already got a hat trick, manager takes me off. We win 9-0. In the reverse fixture, we embarrassingly (a bit like England v San Marino) go 1-0 down. Order restored quickly 7-1 up at H/T, again already with a hat trick. I say to our manager don’t you even dream of taking me off here… So I stay on, end up with 8 goals in the game and we win 17-1. I’m comfortably the top scorer in the league. A few days later this team decided they’d had enough and cut their losses and folded. So I lose 11 goals!!! And the team lose a 26-1 favourable g/d! Thankfully we still won the league and I was still top scorer but maybe in hindsight he should have subbed me again in the second game!
I don't understand why people are negative of Gareth he's still our best manager since 66 world cup semi final and a Euros final plus he's the reason we're even watching the national team remember people were turning their backs on England but Gareth has changed English football golden generation didn't accomplish any of those and they had better sqauds micah says he picks people he likes but we need players who perform for England
Sorry Alan Shearer, but Portugal have the 3 plus 3 best players. Bernardo Silva, Bruno Fernandes, Vitinha, Rafael Leão, João Felix, Cristiano Ronaldo. Love the podcast!
Crazy thing is England's squad is one of the best in the World, problem is fans got favourites and the manager has favourites, Maguire plays cause he fits the system and Tomori is a better defender but the long passing from Maguire is mint ( he doesn't fit Utds system and he should've made the move to West Ham), Henderson am not sure cause he's in S. Arabia, but Rice is currently clear of him and does the same job better. And am surprised Rashford doesn't start at Lw, him and Saka tire out Full backs and force teams to defend do their life
Southgate might've made England better than they were, but like you said they weren't great but they've always had top quality players, I think what Steve Clarke has done with Scotland has been more impressive and they're yet to even qualify for a tournament, so who's to say another manager wouldn't do a better job, England need to freshen things up
Southgate is a great man manager and clearly bought a much needed sense of togetherness to the squad, but he is tactically inept which becomes blatantly obvious every time we actually play a top team, and it's cost us in the last 2 tournaments. the other thing is when he got the job he said he'd pick players based on their form, and that's gone completely out the window.
You know when it was 1-1 against France last tournament, neither manager made any changes! To say Southgate cost us is a fallacy, especially when we finished the game having had more possession and more shots on target than France! Revisionist history at its finest!
@@GIBBO4182lmao if neither manager makes a change at 1-1 and one of them loses then he should have made a change. Southgate isn’t cut out for that top level decision making
The reason England followers are negative towards Southgate is for the following reasons: he got the job by default (not due to any past achievements, he was actually a very poor coach at club level), his in-game decision making leaves a lot to be desired& ultimately he's failed to achieve anything with the national team despite the wealth of generational talent he has at his disposal
Why are we negative tho he's the reason we're all watching England look at the improvement we've made under him before u say easy routes why weren't the golden generation beating teams like Slovenia Iceland etc plus you have to beat what's Infront of you
I dont get the whole picking players for internationals on club form. The premier league for example is very different to international football and the systems players play in are different. Trent shines for Liverpool but England dont use their fullback in that way, which is why he doesnt get picked over Walker, James or Trippier. Works the other way as well, Pogba never shone for United but was a big reason France won the world cup because he suits how they play etc. For me, Maguire should be in the england set up regardless of what United do. He has been in the team of the tounement for Euro and world cup and plays really well for them.
This is the team I would play with copying pep’s tactics with stones dropping into midfield to push Bellingham more forward and giving foden the freedom to attack. Kane Grealish Foden Saka Bellingham Rice Shaw/Chilwell Walker Tomori/ Colwill Stones Pickford Bench: Rashford, sterling, Madison, Phillips, Ben white, Callum Wilson

It's about his tactics and management as a coach. Micah is spot on, the players he has make him look good regardless. Based on the squad England has, they will reach the Semi-Finals in the international tournaments.
Ok Golden generation had better sqauds and had decent managers why couldn't they accomplish what Gareth did that team should of won something
@@HarryKanee should 'have'
Micah is spot on, they want too much Premier League and they are biased
They have a good squad but they don't have a good manager/tactician
Deschamps is world class manager
Used to play as a striker at a half decent level on Saturdays then pub league on Sundays.
On the Sunday one season we came up against a team you could tell were really bad from their results. I had the exact same mindset as Lineker and Shearer. There’s goals here. 6-0 up at H/T I’ve already got a hat trick, manager takes me off. We win 9-0.
In the reverse fixture, we embarrassingly (a bit like England v San Marino) go 1-0 down. Order restored quickly 7-1 up at H/T, again already with a hat trick. I say to our manager don’t you even dream of taking me off here…
So I stay on, end up with 8 goals in the game and we win 17-1. I’m comfortably the top scorer in the league.
A few days later this team decided they’d had enough and cut their losses and folded. So I lose 11 goals!!! And the team lose a 26-1 favourable g/d! Thankfully we still won the league and I was still top scorer but maybe in hindsight he should have subbed me again in the second game!
lmao@sunday league
@@PazLeBon rofl lol hahahahaha
What did Alan shearer say about Roberto Carlos' goal? I didn't get that
I don't understand why people are negative of Gareth he's still our best manager since 66 world cup semi final and a Euros final plus he's the reason we're even watching the national team remember people were turning their backs on England but Gareth has changed English football golden generation didn't accomplish any of those and they had better sqauds micah says he picks people he likes but we need players who perform for England
David Beckham was unbelievable!
Spot on Micah on Southgate
Beckham was amazing at crosses and free kicks. Think Micah has a bromance going on 😂
Cracking show again gents!
The dynamic trio 😅😂
I feel Eddie howe would be perfect for England because he is English and plays expansive football
The "miserable git" from Alan in the background 😂
Southgate would fit the women's national team with all due respect
@@Wozefootballchannel I wouldt know, i dont watch girls sports
@@GIBBO4182lmao if neither manager makes a change at 1-1 and one of them loses then he should have made a change. Southgate isn’t cut out for that top level decision making
The reason England followers are negative towards Southgate is for the following reasons: he got the job by default (not due to any past achievements, he was actually a very poor coach at club level), his in-game decision making leaves a lot to be desired& ultimately he's failed to achieve anything with the national team despite the wealth of generational talent he has at his disposal
Why are we negative tho he's the reason we're all watching England look at the improvement we've made under him before u say easy routes why weren't the golden generation beating teams like Slovenia Iceland etc plus you have to beat what's Infront of you
We sound so entitled. We've always had supposed "generational talents" but never been had any success.
hardly all English , just the whiney self entitled % we have at all of our domestic clubs lol
France definitely matches England in terms of talent lol
Like 2 WC players in every position
Ong they played their B team the whole WC and almost beat argentina.
The camera irritates me the way it keeps zooming in and out when someone talks
England manager should be from England, Germany manager from Germany and so on.
There’s no good english manager
@@punkster2542 absolute nonsense
Better than Brazil's? Casemiro,Guimaraes,Paqueta Vini, Neymar, Rodrigo,Jesus...I think Gary Lineker hadn't dipped his thoughts properly..but it's allowed 😊
It was shearer that said it
Maybe Argentina? The De Paul - MacAllister - Enzo then Messi - Di María - Julián?
Come on cage tigersss!!!
I remember Shearer having to play right back in the world cup after Becham got sent off kicking Simeone
Kane
Grealish Foden Saka
Bellingham Rice
Shaw/Chilwell Walker
Tomori/ Colwill Stones
Pickford
Bench: Rashford, sterling, Madison, Phillips, Ben white, Callum Wilson
You forgot Trent and James, Nketiah too. Pep would definitely play that team. Gotta wait til July 2014 now
@@stephanevu-hoang1014
Not sure about Nketiah and Trent. Reece James 100% and I’d have Ivan Toney if he wasn’t banned
@@CB-ms2cq Trent is awesome and one thing Southgate did get right is to play Trent in midfield
