We made an agreement to not buy any gifts this year. Nothing. Not one single gift. Family and food is what is important during the holiday anyway. Gifts can be fun but only during financially abundant times.

Gifts don't go on the credit card. If I can't pay cash, it's not purchased. That's why I save.

I know many that only do gifts for kids. For adults it's only if they can afford it/want to.

Stop using big supermarket chains. Buy from local co ops and farmers. It will benefit local people. Avoid using credit cards too much, these instruments are designed to spend more.

Wealthy employers should pay a Christmas bonus to help employees enjoy the holidays. An additional one month’s pay for example.
