He's an honest voice on the sax. A fabulous, generous person and a genuine advocate for performing sax players. If only trad players could portray the courtesy towards saxophonists with opposing styles with such respect. The interviewer in the red shirt asked good questions, but seemed to have an agenda to bring down "smooth jazz". Koz addressed the audience with respect. Unfortunately, he couldn't be freely interviewed without defending his style.

Great Job Khabachev !! Dave is one of the best sax players and he is a great person too. I met him in Houston after his show two years ago and it was an incredible experience to talk with him. What a good time spent whit him in Russia, and for me this is the most interesting interview that I have seen about Dave Koz or any other professional sax man published in you tube. Congratulations.
He says that he works with (against) the alto so it should not sound too bright - the first thing he could do was to take out the extra baffle in the mouthpiece :-) I think he sounds great!!
You study with Bob?! He's a phenomenal player and a fantastic teacher. I'd give anything to study with Jessy, she's great. How do you like studying with Bob? I'd like to have a lesson with him.
21:50 how on earth did that idiot dare to interrupt Daves solo and just start playing out if nowhere? let the man do his thing, and wait for your turn. Embarassing
It's jam session etiquette, you don't cut someones solo off. But there's a lot of players out there that still view jam sessions as a cutting contest to see who's better. And honestly, that's why I no longer have anything to do with my cities jazz scene. The music itself is amazing and I still learn tunes, but the culture of jazz playing now is something I refuse to be a part of.
$8 a month for netflix, Dave. Hahaha I love this man.
Very good interview. I learn a lot in knowing Dave Koz better in a private setup and inspired to take up saxophone.
Beautiful tone and tune !! Your one of the best around Dave ! God Bless you ! :)

I love DK to play funk or R&B, he is not a real jazz man, I think so. :)
Do you play his music?
Yes, some songs such as: Know you by heart, Faces of the heart :)
Quoc Linh Nguyen he is not a jazz musician and Kenny G is not a jazz musician either, people think every sound that come out from a sax is jazz
