Oh my gosh! This is only the second video I've watch with you and I love you already! I don't celebrate Halloween either and took a stand years ago (probably 30 plus, but whose counting) that I, nor my children would take part in it. I am still taking that stand today. Thank you for teaching about how to store sugar too. This is what I am talking about! Homesteaders who are willing to teach you and not charge for it on here and not fear-monger too.

We dont celebrate halloween either..
I don’t celebrate holidays much, especially Memorial Day, Independence Day, and the other memorial days; my “celebration” is restudying the history of the day and how the event it memorialized affected the world.
My sister used to work for an animal shelter rescue and Halloween was one of the worst time for animals. Every year they would get calls about tortured animals especially cats. It’s just horrible the things some will do to animals. Please keep your pets safe around this time of year.
One of our shelters will NOT adopt out black cats this time of year because of the awful things people do to them.
Time to store and grow more!

Billy if you have a bucket with a rubber gasket when you close it down would you need the mylar bags. I thought it would seal up good. I have just been putting the bags unopened in the bucket with the rubber gaskets. What do you think?
I totally agree with not celebrating Halloween for many reasons and mainly there are a lot of straight up nuts out there just waiting to get their jellies on hurting some kid

I put my sugar in just food grade buckets and don't use mylar bags. I have keep sugar for years like this. And I have never had any go bad. When my children were little we would buy 200 pound at a time because I made all my jams, jellies, applebutter and such.
Be sure to label that bucket. 😉

I've never really liked Halloween myself as there is an evil element to it, and the costumes are getting more and more creepy, scary creepy. Never gave it a thought on how quickly a child could get snatched up, yet the animal snatching does not surprise me. The world is changing and God is watching, with a tear down His cheek I'm sure.
I will not celebrate Halloween anymore, either.
I’ll gladly hand out candy on Halloween, but hell no will I be eating something handed to me by a stranger.
Billy, I'm so glad I watched this video. I received my mylar bags and oxygen absorbers today. I was about to place my sugar in the bag with extra doses of O2 absorbers.
You can put sugar in paper bags, fold the paper bag over and tape it shut, and then vacuum seal them in a food saver bag too for long term storage. God bless.

My question about diesel.
Don't celebrate Halloween purely because of the theme. Kind of counter productive from a faith perspective to give the other side a day of my time. Kids don't get it, but hopefully someday they will.
I love Halloween! If you are worried about your kids, then you should accompany them to go trick or treating. Or have a home party for them and invite their friends. No reason to skip the whole thing. Plus keep your pets inside.

Recently got my Mylar bags and oxygen absorbers.
Unfortunately the oxygen absorbers weren’t individually packaged and the package that they came in wasn’t air tight.
I even went as far as opening a absorber thinking the packet was enclosed in another wrapper.
No such luck.
Obviously pouring the contents in the bag was a bad idea.
Wanting to get this done i improvised.
So I grabbed a couple of hand warmers from my get home bag to use as the oxygen absorber.
Let the buckets sit for 12 hours.
Air was removed from Mylar bag.
Think this will work just fine.

One of the freakiest things I've ever seen happened on a Halloween night just before midnight when I was in college. A friend and I were out in a cemetery and we saw an orange flame in the air. We got in my car and drove to it. It was an old church that just went up in flames. Had a friend on the local fire department and he said it was an electrical fire that started on the 2nd floor. But how freaky is that?

Who knew I would be laughing out loud literally on how to store Sugar video. But then it made me think of if Pelosi , Hunter and Cheney went hunting together would they use a shotgun, hammer or a crack pipe 🤔
When I store stuff in 5 gal jugs from Lowes I just put tape all around the edges. I have stored food like this for years. Also if stored properly sugar will never go bad.
I wouldn't have my kids participate in Halloween simply because of the fentanyl crisis and how those pills are made to look like sweet tarts essentially. I also wouldn't because I wouldn't believe in feeding my kids preservatives , additives, and dyes.

That sugar, and salt, etc, will be rock solid and a nightmare to use. Try closing the bag up and use nitrogen to push the o2 out of the bag and bucket before sealing 100%.

I haven't started any of this as yet. Don't have the space and in hot humid Florida it's next to impossible. You are so lucky.
Everyone has some* space somewhere. You just have to get creative. And as long as it’s comfortable enough to sleep in, it’s suitable enough to store food. It might not be ideal, but you just have to work with what you’ve got.
The Mylar bag and bucket protect it from the humidity , I’ve been in Florida for 20 years and never experienced a problem with putting food up for long term storage

@@homeagainhomestead600 Good point. I’m in mid-TN and we have just about as much humidity in the warmer months. I lived in FL for ~10 years, and really never had any more of an issue there than I do here, and we were right on the water too. The salty air is much stickier though.
One suggestion would be to run a dehumidifier in the room you plan to seal up your mylar and/or buckets in. I try to do my packaging in the dry winter months to help a bit, but not doing it on a very humid, rainy day seems to help too. I treat my ammunition the same way, resisting the temptation to open or seal any longer term storage containers when it’s extremely humid. It’s honestly a bit extreme of a measure, but it makes me feel good. 😊
Yesterday a friend told me she didn't have any room to store preps. I said, what about under the bed? She said, yes, I will get one of those under-the-bed storage things. I said what about behind your couch? I have a chair in my bedroom that has just enough space on either side & behind it that I can store quite a bit in. She said she was going to go home & look for possible storage places. I truly hope she does! Good luck with yours, too! God Bless!

I've had sugar that has been up for more that 11 years that has been in harsh temperatures that is still like the day it was put up yes it will get hard and you are right do not put oxygen absorbers in it for many different reasons.
Halloween celebrates the evil things….letting your kids in on that is offering them to Satin …. It’s a good season to celebrate Gods harvest with prayer and good works

That is why we celebrate Harvest, with a bonfire, family, and s'mores. Hopefully in the future we will be having a harvest dance for my sons and their friends.
@@timoblake5689 God gave us a time in scripture to celebrate the fall harvest called the feast of tabernacles. People dismiss it but Isaiah said in the millennium gentiles that do not keep it will not get rain. And of course, Christ kept it.

Completely understand why no oxygen absorbers, but I live in a humid climate. Shouldn't I put moisture absorbers in & if so how many of what size? As for Halloween, you are on target. I'm a very seasoned person, Almost 60 years ago, it wasn't safe. Got jumped when I was 9 years old & we'll just say I was hurt & traumatized for a very long time. Never took my kids out for Halloween & won't the grandchildren either. We do a tractor ride with hay & bag them some candy to teach them it's of time of celebration for the harvest of farmers. I carried my EDC pistol all evening and my kids didnt leave my sight, nor did they stray far from my physical grasp. The woman isnt as cautious as me. She doesnt worry about any of the daily threats we and our children face. She doesnt want to prep or gain skills/knowledge, so I bear the main responsibility on that. Also, dont use an O2 absorber on salt either. Nothing that is a granular non grain substance.

If you can’t see the difference between Halloween and Mother’s Day I don’t know what to tell ya. A lot of Christians reject Halloween because of its nature and origin. No one is huddled but if imagining that gives you a chuckle go ahead I reckon.
