Literally was just about to say the same exact thing! well done Greg! that chord progression is truly amazing to hear on its own, I never knew how complex that was there. Thanks for the upload!
You don’t realise the depth to such a simple rhythm, it’s all the enhancements and embellishments that make hendrix the greatest of all time. Great work
Fantastic! When everybody else was coming up with repeated chord progressions Hendrix just tossed that out and went for a stroll through paradise. True to the words of the tune.
Greg keep up the excellent work man. I'm a long time Hendrix fan and he is the reason I play guitar. I know of no one who captures his feel so nicely. Keep 'em comin' man!
Wow! I always thought of this as more a jazz tune save the main blues riff but hearing the guitar alone it takes it too another level. Growing up I could only hear the sparkle he put on the top of those chords. Now I can hear an arrangement in a smoky jazz bar.
Amazing work Greg! The thing I don’t understand how Jimi even came up with these chord progressions. They are so complex. It seems almost as though he just makes up finger positions as he goes and they somehow fit together perfectly.
WOW! what a treat hearing it like this all alone. Fantastic brother as always and I cant wait to hear whats next. Jam back at the house mabe?? Peace, -Bob-
Congratulations for your dedication to work on this complex chord progressions, and for showing them to the world, they are so unique,it demonstrates the Greatness of Jimi, you dont find them in any other tipe of music,You Rock
Greg you are honestly my favourite guitar player that is alive right now. I learnt almost all of my songs off you. Tell me though, is it possible that you will ever do a Wild thing cover?
Hey Greg, Love Your Work! I put together some TAB for this and gave you a shout out in my If 6 was 9 lesson video. ua-cam.com/video/Vu8YAqFFUIw/v-deo.htmlm30s Shame this wasn't around last Sept when I was working through this for the Jimi Hendrix Tribute Show I was doing! Our versions vary in a couple of places and its always interesting to see another player's approach. Great job once again!
Hey, Greg! You're jast amazing! Look, what about the "MLK Jam (08-29-1970)" record? Very rare and tremendous thing, guess you know it. Please, try to do your guitar version on it. It would be extremlely cool!1
@@greggggg Beh che dire, hai fatto un ottimo lavoro! In particolare mi piace la tua versione di "One rainy wish", uno dei miei brani preferiti. Fai anche cose tue? Qualcosa da ascoltare? ciao
I literally love everyone of your videos watching you has taught me soo much of stuff the way you play your tone its just amazing i sometimes feel to go and buy the same guitar and amp so i can sound this good lool cant wait to see another great video i get excited when i see youve posted one haha thanks for the great guitar playing 👍🏼
can you put all your jimi versions on dvd and ill take one,,,like the way you play, years ago i found about a hundred 90 minute cassette tapes of jimi, someone was archiveing every song from bootleg and or concert that was made ,
which pickup are you on throughout this song and did you switch to the bridge for the ending or just stay on the neck the whole song? Great work btw by far the best on youtube fucking spot on!
Excelent recordings !!! You can answer me one question - what is nearest pickup of Hendrix tones: CS69 or Pure Vintage 65? I have a Strat deluxe roadhouse with specials texas and I'm thinking of changing them.
Yeah, sing the song for us If the sun refused to shine I don't mind, I don't mind (yeah) If the mountains fell in the sea Let it be, it ain't me (Alright), I got my own world to look through And uh, I ain't gonna copy you, yeah Now if a 6 turned out to be 9 I don't mind, I don't mind, (well alright) If all the hippies cut off all their hair I don't care, I don't care Dig, cause I got my own world to live through And uh, and I ain't going to copy you White-collared conservatives Flashing down the street Pointing their plastic finger at me They're hoping soon, my kind will drop and die But I'm going to wave My freak flag high, high ow!
question : how can you hear the chord progression with the original tape ? i cant seem to hear a lot of the rythm guitar due to other sounds , could you tell me how you did
@@frankymcdonald7176 hey bro we are listening to this on normal speakers so its not gonna sound like a tube amp, Plug up your guitar to a tube amp then place your phone speaker near the selected pickup (i use neck)
You know , gotta ask did anyone else start saying the taking verse at the right time, I bet you all did cause I did too. So let me live the way I want to....... Greg if I send you my email can I get an autograph brother thx Ryerson
I don't know who made the final call on some of these mixes... Kramer, Hendrix... whoever. How the stuff on the choruses, and especially at the end, could have been buried in the mix... SMH.
I never really realized how interesting of a chord progression he had going on behind the freak out bit. Very unique indeed.

Yeah it is unusual. Makes it like you think of space. Like woaaaah.

Honestly don't know how you don't have tens of thousands of subs. Mad accuracy, tone and subtle dynamics. Keep up the great work dude!

i agree
+Greg whats the tuning?
djent tuning. Drop A
+Fried Meat Sounds like Eb tuning.

I learned more from watching your videos than any hendrix lesson video

Excellent playing Greg! Always loved listening to the outro when Jimi Mitch and Noel just waved their freak flags high. Such an empowering song.
Beautiful and Impressive!!!
Great job
love the tone. I have a very similar shirt to yours

I'll gift you a Funky Vibe effect pedal if you play some tunes that uses a Uni-Vibe, like Machine Gun and such.
If he does machine gun the earth is melting
Great version.
This takes me straight to Easyrider man.. Bravo, again..
Your covers are just spot on 🤙🎸

could get the verse part down but now I got it!
Grande Greg! Complimenti per l'interpretazione, sei entrato da tempo in superpalla con Jimi!

Magnificent
great job, dude. it sounds good.
Amazing guitar jimi still the best

awsome
Greg very good , I had even asked Thevibratory this .. !! .. rsr , makes the other two tracks ( guitar ) of this song ..
all videos well done, saludos desde -chile
how do you learned it, got any tabs? Just for those crazy chords, i mean what kind of chords are they, how are they named?
which pickup are you on throughout this song and did you switch to the bridge for the ending or just stay on the neck the whole song? Great work btw by far the best on youtube fucking spot on!
Thank you! I used the middle pickup, but I think Jimi used the bridge pickup in the original song
Hallo Greg , can you cover Jimi Hendrix - Driving south please ... Thank u :)
How about jimis star spangled banner song ,,, his way,,,
I dig what you’re doing..👍🏼… maybe be cool if you could fill in the percussion parts.. ?
How did u learn? I love this cover
I think the reverb in the original song could be a second microphone picking up the actual room's noise
Excelent recordings !!!

I have a Strat deluxe roadhouse with specials texas and I'm thinking of changing them.
Thanks! I read somewhere that CS69 sound too glassy, while Pure 65 are more balanced, with more mids and punch.
you are the senior

White-collared conservatives
Flashing down the street
Pointing their plastic finger at me
They're hoping soon, my kind will drop and die
But I'm going to wave
My freak flag high, high ow!
Wow, this was mind blowing! Did you played this in standard tuning?
Thanks! No, it's half step down tuning
Should be great if you play Midnight from Voodoo Soup album
Very nice sound, what is your EQ on the amp?
is this the guitar with the riffs or solos at the end of the song, were you can hardly hear them due to the other strange sound that is louder.
Howard Stephen Posadas Ardon the strange sound is jimi freaking out on a recorder (flute) and feet stamping
question : how can you hear the chord progression with the original tape ? i cant seem to hear a lot of the rythm guitar due to other sounds , could you tell me how you did
+Jay Saulnier I have the multitracks, someone extracted them from ''Guitar Hero'' game for PlayStation. They're circulating online
You workin on that Periscope channel yet? Can you do a cover for Hey Gypsy Boy? No one on youtube has a good version of it.
+Onder O I'd like to do that, but my phone does not support Periscope!
Anymore anytime soon? You should do some cream too.
On the song it sounds like he's eating a jolly rancher right before he says im the one that's gonna have to die
Probably chewing Blackjack gum...his favorite.
yeah right? It sounded like he had something sphere shaped in his mouth
please make ain't no telling
How did you get your guitar to sound so amazing???
You mean beyond the simple yet amazing combo of tube amp and single coils? Not sure

I bet you changed the cords of the strings for the hendrix ..

Play on brother
..and let me live my life...
if you and jimmi and wes Montgomery could jam on 6 and 9 and 4 and six
Wish I had bigger hands so I could add the thumb to that chord at 0:41 :(
What chords are you playing?
Greg Hendrix?
Sang it
What gauge strings do you use
He probably uses 10's or the ones that Hendrix used
Great playing, but it is so empty without the drums so maybe you can add in a drum beat next time. But the guitar playing was still great!
You know , gotta ask did anyone else start saying the taking verse at the right time, I bet you all did cause I did too. So let me live the way I want to....... Greg if I send you my email can I get an autograph brother thx Ryerson
Why would Jimi bury these amazing and beautiful outro chords in those random and somewhat unpleasant sounds 😭
Ohne Band ist das nicht's
I don't know who made the final call on some of these mixes... Kramer, Hendrix... whoever. How the stuff on the choruses, and especially at the end, could have been buried in the mix... SMH.
Hey, there's a cut at 3:50! You hid a mistake. ;)
He's not exactly hiding it; there's literally a fading animation.
,Yeah...Nothing to say, just listen and try to understand some rhythmic parts that can not hear the original recording.
Check out Alex from guitar force for more great Hendrix covers.
