Hi. Thank you for the video. Question - why are their duplicate numbers in the ranking column? Seems like each number should only appear once, but I see lots of #1's and a couple # "3s." Thank you for explaining.
As epresa states below, Sharon missed a vital step when copying the RANK formula down the table. She ranked [cell to the left] in a range of,say, d2 to d99. However when she copied it down the RANGE moved, relative to the cell it was copied to. The trick is to use $ to fix the range, or part of it. So instead of ....=RANK(D2,D2:D99) it should have read =RANK(D2,D$2:D$99). Then when it copies down the range would always span 2-99. Hope that makes sense.
Any way to get this to return last and first name? We have employees with either same last or same first names. We have the first and last names in separate columns as well.
Hi, Re: HOW TO SELECT MULTIPLE RANDOM WINNERS FOR A PRIZE GIVEAWAY - Is there any way to lock the resulting 'Winners' until a 'Clear Results' Button is Pressed. Also Placing a 'Recalculate' Button. I believe both are possible but I don't know how it's done.
the rank formula isn't working as expected, it's missing the $ on the range reference.
Thank you, you were easy to follow.
So glad you found it helpful! Thanks for watching!

I'm seeing the same issue, I have multiple RANK of 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5
Hi Sharon, is there an answer to this question? Thanks

hi. why does the value in RAND change?
Once created, can new rows be added and will it still function? Many thanks.
Rank does not accept the formula given here..I got the norwegian version of excel. I use the equivalent formula buut no. Sigh
