  • Made a trip out to fish for some winter steelhead during some high water. Although I wasn't able to catch any steelhead this time, I had plenty of action with trout (smolts) and a whitefish, so there was quite a bit of action. Using UV beads, cured eggs, and sandshrimp oil was the ticket. Hopefully there will be more steelhead videos in the future.
Edits using Adobe Premiere Elements and filmed with GoPro Hero 8.

Thank you. Yes, it is very nice just being along the river and listening to the sounds and watching the birds. Catching fish is a bonus.

It is a lot better than getting skunked. Plus I’ve been catching a few really nice sized ones as well.

Man, those little rainbows are just gorging on the skein and eggs. Too bad you lost those 2 bigger ones. That river is ripping through there, water clarity looked good though. Hopefully when the river decides, you can get into some nice winter steelhead or cohos.

Yeah, most of our rivers are running high and it keeps raining. Not that you can’t catch them in high water, but finding travel lanes sometimes gets tricky.

Nice to see you out on the water. We need to get our butts out there. Glad you caught some fish. Tight lines!

Yeah it’s been a struggle as of late with motivation to film. Hopefully we can get more videos out soon.

That water looks super fishy. Nice job on the trout. There had to be a steelhead in there somewhere.. Great vid.

I’m definitely looking forward to spending more time in that spot this winter. I think it’s fishy too. It’s gonna happen eventually.

High water has been the hardest for me to figure out.

Once you figure it out, I actually prefer fishing high water. There’s fewer places the fish will be. Try fishing uncomfortably close to the shore to get into softer current

We have a crab trap modifications tutorial. Do you mean crab trap build from scratch? Or how to use them?
