    Wow, great job...you have awesome sewing skills. Clothing construction is NOT easy. That looks great! Just watched your other videos; they happened to show up on my page, I'm a machine quilter.

    Good call on the beard-guard. Never seen that before, and I'd thought the only solution was to just go with snaps for closing above the collarbone.

    Great job on the windshirt (and your other sewing projects). I would also appreciate a link to, or copy of your pattern.

      Unfortunately this is just a custom pattern I made based on a jacket that fit me well and modified through time with experimentation. Don't think there is a good way to share it online. there are patterns you can purchase from various websites

    Awesome job. Do you have a pattern for sale on this. If not can you give me an idea of how much material you used? Thanks and keep up the great videos..

    Nice job. I'm trying to make one out of Dyneema with taped seams, so it will be waterproof. Trying to figure out the best order to sew the pieces together. My prototype in a waste fabric came out "okay". I would love to see you do a video of this project. Again, well done.

      sew up the sleeves first, then sew up the chest/back/sides, then attached the sleeves, then make and attach the hood or collar. zipper goes on last.

    Omg, I'm watching all your myog videos, and this is the perfectly exact piece I need to have right now! :P Where i live, it's really hard to source such hooded windstoppers. And the one from Zpacks is really bit pricey (not even including import prices etc ;) So best option is to diy :) Would you be so kind to share the plans, or at least point me to the right direction (BPL forums?). Thanks for all your gear tutorials btw!

      Sorry for the delayed reponse!
      Unfortunately this is just a custom pattern I made based on a jacket that fit me well and modified through time with experimentation. What i did was deconstruct the jacket copied it/used it as a pattern. Ive ajusted various peices through time based on previous jackets Ive made. Don't think there is a good way to share it online.

    Now that your website is up, i read the comments and a pattern would make a lot of people happy. I haven't sewn for years but after watching your quilt videos I'm getting in the mood. This video is similarly inspirational. What stitch length do you tend to use one the jacket or the quilts?

  • @iszquierda

    Do you have diagrams or material lists? Are they posted anywhere? You have some of the nicest DIY gear I've seen, so I would be really interested in some non-video resources!

    • @DubberDesigns
      @DubberDesigns  8 років тому +1

      m shear thanks for the compliments! I don't really have a good place where I list materials and whatnot unfortunately. However, I have made a few posts on hammock forums and backpacking light diy forums in the past. Also, if you have any specific questions post them here or send me a message and I'll be happy to answer them

    What style seams did you use, and how well did the seams handle water/general wear and tear over time?

    I started setting up the designs for a lightweight clear poptent. It would be nice to get another youtuber that knows what their doing to join on the idea. If your interested in something like that let me know.

    What scenarios do you use a wind jacket in? I only ever put on a jacket if its raining but this isn't waterproof is it? If you are carrying a waterproof jacket does that make this jacket redundant? Not being picky, I'm genuinely interested.

      Not sure if u still need an answer, but I'm answering it anyways. A wind jacket is how the name says for windy conditions. I use one for example when I go Trailrunning in windy conditions over my longer shirt. By that I can minimize the Windchill, but still have a perfect breathability and a smaller more lightweight solution than any GoreTex Jacket.

    Welcome back! I’ve got a question. I would like to make an alternative to my OR rain jacket which comes in at 6.36 ounces. What about using DCF? I know it’s not breathable but know matter what jacket you wear your going to sweat. You can Velcro pits I guess. I’m my case I would only wear it to stay dry during cold weather to prevent hypothermia. In warm weather I don’t wear one. What’s your opinion? Would a DCF rain jacket make any sense?

    • @DubberDesigns
      @DubberDesigns  6 років тому +2

      Hey RG. Well, as you say DCF has absolutely no breath-ability. It would literally be like wearing a plastic bag. I suppose it would work out well for an emergency jacket as you say, but I wouldn't recommend it for hiking, skiing, sailing, or any other sort of physical activity really. Youd sweat so much that the risky og hypothermia would probably actually increase. If you'd like something breathable, waterproof, and fairly lightweight, I think RSBTR has a 2 layer BWP fabric around 2oz per square yard. Probably wont find a membraned fabric much lighter than that anywhere else!

      I used an old T shirt or jumper (cant really remember now) that fit me well for the pattern. Cut it up into the pieces I wanted to use as the pieces in the jacket. Worked well
