Loved them up until that soppy "The Reason" and turned off after then. Some great tracks prior to that though, this being a prime example, and Crawling in the Dark.
00:36 Stupidly simple, incredibly catchy. That's STILL a hell of a chorus. Legit one of the best of the 00's. Still can't hear it without having to sing.
He’s using a piezo pickup in that Camo PRS Custom 24 (the piezo makes it sound like an acoustic as well), you can see 2 output cables coming out of the guitar, one is normal and one is the ‘acoustic’ sound. 🤟🏻
Moakalatte was looking through the comments to find someone talking about the piezzos. They sound so good here. I remember way back in the day wishing for something like this so it’s exciting when people use them well, technology rules.
Yeah as others have said, there’s traditional magnetic pickups in the guitar that provide the regular guitar sound, but then piezo transducers in the bridge as well that are like tiny mini microphones and give an electric guitar an acoustic quality. You need two output cables and signal paths. One for the traditional guitar output through amp, and turn the other out to a DI box into a pa, and then you can blend them or use one or the other
I saw them live back in the day at a small venue down in Deep Ellum in Dallas. Fantastic show it was. I am so incredibly bless to have terrific music like this to remind me of how much fun the world used to be. Seems like now there are too many people who need hugs and are constantly looking for reasons to be pissed off at something.
Cause I did enough To show you that I Was willing to give and sacrifice And I was the one who was lifting you up When you thought your life had, had enough And when I get close You turn away There's nothing that I can do or say So now I need you To tell me the truth You know I'd do that for you
bag2289 Probably just what they had on hand at GC, he still tours with the Dual Rec. Earlier Hoobastank did use a few Marshalls though, so I guess you never know...
just listened to "grooms" and "a place to bury strangers"...and "grimes". last 2 are not my style but i liked grooms....so thanx a lot for the tip. the rest you mentioned i know already ( who doesn't ! love the zep!, ) but i gotta listen to the early b52's, only know a song or 2 from 'em... so thanx again and take care!
Wow..., that's rock-n-roll babies!!! How can some one disrespect and criticize such Work and Medicine? I'd lijke to hear the haters do something besides make noise. Keep it relative I guess..., Music/noise....
grooms is super fun. a place to bury strangers is still making fun music. grimes is making some catchy floaty stuff... but mostly i listen to a bunch of older rock music. zappa, the velvet underground, the who, zep, hendrix, the first 2 b52s records, talking heads, devo, flock of seagulls, yes, king crimson...
hoobastank had a few really big hits, but they still never got the recognition as a band for their musicianship - dan estrin is a phenomenal guitarist, but the song structures never really allowed him to space out and stretch
After years of listening to this band, now I've realized they kinda sound a little bit similar to Inucbus, although this last one is more experimental I personaly prefer Hoobastank :)
The Reason is the reason why they did not become as big as they were supposed to be. A hit single killed their career. People expected too much from them after the Reason's success. They wanted another hit like the Reason. They were not able to give another big hit like the Reason and people started to lose interest over them. The Reason overshadowed their other work which was brilliant.
I’ve always said that too. The Reason is a good song but they have so many better songs on their catalog. They get called a one hit wonder just because The Reason was so huge when in fact 2 singles from their first album did very well too.
Such a great singer. Criminally underrated.
the backup vocals are pretty clean, too
Still one of the most under rated bands of the 2000's.
Absolutely
Loved them up until that soppy "The Reason" and turned off after then. Some great tracks prior to that though, this being a prime example, and Crawling in the Dark.
You missed spelled of all time
They're not underrated at all
Nice to hear that he's worked on his live vocals. Sounds awesome.
effects. everyone sounds like this on guitar center sessions
@@milkandmeat maybe they did some work on it in post, but he sounds pretty natural, nonetheless
Was he lousy live... previously? Never saw them live.
@@CaptainKirkDigglerHe was always great.
Watch LA CIGALE LIVE performance
This song was my gateway drug into Hoobastank.
ryelor Love this comment
00:36 Stupidly simple, incredibly catchy. That's STILL a hell of a chorus. Legit one of the best of the 00's. Still can't hear it without having to sing.
Yeah I love this song. Been playing it this morning
I love this song! This performance gives me chills and they weren't even in front of a huge live audience..Just Awesome!
This is as clean as it gets, i love this band more than a decade still they're so great live
So true man.
#happybirthday Dan Estrin, guitarist of HoobastankVEVO Here's a celebratory #tbt of "Running Away" from #GCSessions 2013:
this is my fav music
He turned his prs into an acoustic guitar. Insane effects🤘🏼🤘🏼
He did use a semi-hollow guitar though, so yeah that's a totally achievable sound.

Such a great live version of this song!! This whole album was great. The crunchy guitars get me every time 😎🎶
All time favorite song ❤️

Yea they do
HOOBASTANK. Rocks the roll !
Deadly live tune
just because you know one song by them, doesn't mean they only made one song.
Hoobastank make friends forever
So great I wish I saw them live
True talent shines through.
This band is still f∞king amazing
Uma das melhores performances que eu já pude ver de Running away! Muito foda mesmo!
Where does this kind of music goes? damn i think it`s running away.
Record companies are running away from it to make cheap pop music to sell to the masses of mindless drones.
he looks like an asian version of john cusack lol
Now thats funny sh*t!!
Or an Asian Scott Baio----Can you say "Charles in Charge?"
Hahaha he does! So much!
Hahaha true!
Lord Ryuzaki footbaler from portugal: deco
Has withstood test of time...great tune.
Clean sound 👏👏
They totally rock!
I've never heard a live version that compares to the album version.
Agreed 😎🎶
That’s literally the case with any song ever.
This is a proper 4 piece. No bullshit.

Still watching in 2019
Cause I did enough
To show you that I
Was willing to give and sacrifice
And I was the one who was lifting you up
When you thought your life had, had enough
And when I get close
You turn away
There's nothing that I can do or say
So now I need you
To tell me the truth
You know I'd do that for you
whata perfect backingvocal
bag2289 Probably just what they had on hand at GC, he still tours with the Dual Rec. Earlier Hoobastank did use a few Marshalls though, so I guess you never know...
classic
John cusack as a singer
just listened to "grooms" and "a place to bury strangers"...and "grimes". last 2 are not my style but i liked grooms....so thanx a lot for the tip. the rest you mentioned i know already ( who doesn't ! love the zep!, ) but i gotta listen to the early b52's, only know a song or 2 from 'em...
so thanx again and take care!
Nice Guitar player
Awesome!!!!!! song
Muito talento 😢
The for(n)ever album was also amzing, don't know why people say on hit wonder band or: they still exist?
Wow..., that's rock-n-roll babies!!! How can some one disrespect and criticize such Work and Medicine? I'd lijke to hear the haters do something besides make noise. Keep it relative I guess..., Music/noise....
grooms is super fun.
a place to bury strangers is still making fun music.
grimes is making some catchy floaty stuff...

2017
After years of listening to this band, now I've realized they kinda sound a little bit similar to Inucbus, although this last one is more experimental I personaly prefer Hoobastank :)
006sick but incubus is so different right now.
The only complaint I have is that Dan & Markku cannot jump & spin around the stage at “Running Away’s” pre-chorus and lift....
💙
hoobastank is perf :3
indo✌🏻
Yea way are Running Away...
They Tight
drummer is starting to look like Krist Novoselic
Awesome fucking song!!!
He reminds me of an Asian John Cusack
Lmao holy shit, spot on
We Miss The Original like this, Music today is SHIT!!!
Where are the original musicians?
2020
1:48, can someone give him a fucking hugh?

I think he's Brandon Boyd's little brother
Doug is actually a year older than Brandon boyd
