    What you are demonstrating is very informative! I use Book Bolt to create my low content books for Amazon KDP. Unfortunately, I haven't had many sales.

    I have no knowledge about photoshop. Can you make a detail video on how to make a book cover for amazon kdp on Photoshop?
    How the effects applied to the image and all that?
    I need a tutorial.

      Check out the channel Photomanipulation - they talk about photoshop, and making covers specifically.

    Question...Wouldn't the Page Turn be Right to Left, not Left to Right? I know it reads L-R, but you're actually turning the pages R-L, correct?

      That sounds about right. I am glad you got what I was thinking instead of what I might have been saying!!

    this great but what about perfectly aligning text and image on either side of the cover? (within the right trim line for example and the spine bleed guide?) I did a test print with a client and the cover image and text weren't perfectly aligned so I'm trying to find out which 'centre spot' (exact middle of the cover or dashed line on the right side of the spine area)?

      I would say the best way would be to put a grid on the cover and then mark it off exactly - there could be a couple of millimeter difference depending on how the book is printed, but if you stick a rule (like a grid paper) on the actual space you can get it exact (if the align option is not working to your satisfaction). I hope that helps!

    Excellent demo, clearly explained . . . but what if you're not using (or not that proficient with) Photoshop?
    What other programs are folks using which allow them to work in ways very similar to those you describe?

      Yes it's a good question. You can use Inkscape, Affinity Photo - there is even a free online option called Photopea. I have lots of tutorials on this channel so if you have Photoshop, it is definitely worth learning the basics!

    Newbie author here, examining self-publishing opportunities for my completed novel. I appreciated this helpful video leaving me with only one question. Can Photoshop Elements program be used in place of the full blown Photoshop program? Thank you in advance for your earliest response. Happy New Year! Jim

      Happy New Year! Yes Photoshop Elements is a one-time purchase option (instead of a monthly subscription). It just has less features but it still works. If you are designing a book cover, Photoshop Elements would work just fine (I have a super old version of Photoshop that I use - basically you are putting in a picture or illustration and adding some text). Hope that helps!

    What is the difference between this template and Book Bolt Template? Aren't both the same? Are you writing on the spine which is shown as a white area only? That looks so small in width? I tried to write and it was coming over that Pink Area also Otherwise it was looking very small. Any Advice? Thanks

    resolution of the cover? Should it be 72 dpi or 300? Im confused

    • @craftystax
      @craftystax  2 роки тому +1

      Typically you would want it 300 dpi (or as clear as possible) but even 72 dpi would look fine for a book cover that is normal size. 300 dpi is the best!

    Hi, should I include the cover in the page count? My manuscript is of 76 pages, so what page count should I input? 76 (manuscript) or 77 (Manuscript + Cover) or 78 (Manuscript + Cover + Back). Can you help me please?

    • @craftystax
      @craftystax  11 місяців тому

      yes good question - put in 76 pages. The cover is a separate thing (although it is part of the book). The "pages" is internal pages only. Hope that helps!

    So if we dont have photoshop, what do we use? SUGGESTIONS?
    I just bought Canva and it keeps changng the Amazon cover size. How in Canva do we delete the template once its done?

    • @craftystax
      @craftystax  10 місяців тому +1

      Yes there is a free Photoshop alternative called Photopea, it is pretty neat: ua-cam.com/video/WmcScNMDrGs/v-deo.html
