I have learned so much from watching nic. Before I started watching I used to think that the notification devices detected the smoke but then I learned that you have to a smoke detector hooked up to the system.
Honestly I like the look of these pull stations best as they use that classic T-bar styling like Simplex plus they’re metal so they’d last forever. Now if only Honeywell could get the rear setup exactly like the NBG12s I bet they’d be far more popularly used for sure.
@@nics-systems-electricthat is a pain too. Hochiki did better with making the module a lot less bulky, but then again those aren’t hard addressed like Honeywell modules are.
Nic just found out that my high school is getting its system replaced. The old system was Sherlock mt horns strobes with notifier bg 10s and is now a system with notifier bg12lxs and system sensor speaker strobes with a notifier panel. It also has a custom-led map of the school that shows the zones. I believe the school was broken up into seven zones. Interestingly, they are doing an entire voice evac system.
If you wanna erase the old address you can use any hand sanitizer with alcohol in it, or you could just use isopropyl alcohol itself but the hand sanitizer is a bit easier because it stays in place.
I’ve tried doing that before but if the marker is really old, it won’t work that well. Paint thinner works better if it’s older but it really depends on how old the mark is.
There's something I need to tell you. I was walking to my next class and someone pulled the fire alarm in my high school. If you want to know my high school system, they're fire bells, and I find those easier on the ears and that's why I like fire bells more, and don't care how much current draw they are.
You should put a emergency Light in the Furnaces room. Incase you need to get to the Fire Alarm panel during a power outage because i saw the last video it went out is was pretty dark in there.
Not at the panel that is not how they are used. Probably not on the house as it's a residential single family home which the fire department wouldn't be looking for.
Hey Nic, when your home fire alarm system is completely finished. (When you run out of ideas on it), can you just mash up the videos on the whole build as one video? Including connecting it to the garage fire alarm system.
@@nics-systems-electric true but we could see the entire build from start to finish in one video. Also, maybe can you include Hayden or the guests in last video in a school fire alarm test?
I just noticed that the text on the MPS is off-center and I can't unsee that. I still love the pull station's exterior design-looks very nice and the dual action covers are very helpful too. You aren't going to accidentally pull one of those, and you won't need a stopper either. As for questions, though: would you some day be able to do a demo of the security part of the 320? I've only seen one video on it and that video never explained its purpose or anything else about it. I'm guessing it requires Verifire tools, but I'll have my fingers crossed that it doesn't... Also, I get that this system is only meant to be a life safety system so if you're not willing to do that, no complaints here.
The security function is not what a lot of people think. There seems to be a misconception that it's to be connected to a security system however that's not the case. It's meant to be a function where if you have annunciator cabinets or fire hose cabinets or any similar fire equipment in some sort of enclosure it can have a door contact/tamper switch on it to create a security trouble basically.
@@nics-systems-electric I had been wondering if that was the case (security of the FA system itself or something else). It sounds like a useful feature but it's one that you'd rarely see in action on a real system since people seldom tamper with that equipment. Pretty much never on a demo system because people don't have a need for it and probably don't know what it's for, either. Thank you for clearing that up, it's interesting to know!
Another good reason to have a pull station in that room is lets say you or someone else was working on the furnace and something went very wrong and it resulted in a fire
So do you still have the microphone system set up? (The one in your garage that goes through the fire alarms) you said that its on your bike now as a siren but i dont think we were talking about the same thing.
@@nics-systems-electric in a durability test video, you started the video by talking through it. in another durability testing video, you said through it "SHUT UP MOM!" when she was calling you and your friend said "she is probably calling telling us to shut up.". how does this system work? i thought it went through the outside fire alarms.
Hey Nic, if necessary do you want to put a fire alarm sti stopper on your pull stations? (It’s just to prevent false alarms & it’s optional if you want to.)
The function of that is meant for annunciators fire hose cabinets and other fire related cabinets that can have a tamper switch. Not for a security system which I do not have in the house.
@@rodgodx345 most non-combustible construction buildings use non-metallic cables in the walls. If I was to use conduit, I would require another knockout in the box which was not an option so it would require installing another box now that would look much more unprofessional.
7:36 u it says it’s an N-MPS- SC but it’s actually a N-MPS-SA because the A in the SA means addressable and the C in the SC means conventional and that pull station in a addressable so it’s a N-MPS-SA not a N-MPS-SC
That whole system is a complete over kill for a home. You would have to add 20 more stories to that home before you came even came close to using that panels capacity. Remote annunciator, manual pull stations, 12ga. Cable for initiating devices😮 Stay in your lane there harry home owner.😂😂
No need to be negative. I can install whatever I want in the house whether the panel is large or small. I don't use 12 gauge for initiating devices. This system is not just for protection but also for educational reasons as well as content for my UA-cam channel which if you commented on this video it was successful at that. Your math is incorrect you could not add 20 more stories with the same configuration as what is seen here.

Yes I like them to but the back side is indeed a terrible design not sure how someone came up with that lol
I do like those RSG pull stations. Only thing I dislike is that Honeywell didn’t order them with key reset, but instead the regular hex reset
I hate trying to set the address on them and where the resistor is placed

Maybe one day
You should make an intercom system in your house so you can alert the people in the house that you are doing a fire alarm test.
If somebody wanted to give give me one then maybe but otherwise those systems are thousands of dollars
On Conventional Panels like the SFP10UD, you can actually disable the zone.
Yes you can
