This was a really nice and a very reflected reaction. It was so nice to hear how you think and feel about this song. Rammstein had done a way more critical and in some way tragical song about their own homecountry germany. The song called "Deutschland". May you react to this song someday.

I don't think Rammstein would hate you. 😀They again and again put their "fingers" in wounds. Not everytime but oftenly. And if you think, this song is harsh, you should take a look at their song "Deutschland" (Germany) with their look at their own country. Even though there are a lot of references to German history that are not easy to get in the first few views, some parts can't be misunderstood. It's a great (but not nice) video and their lyrics are matching the visuals.
Great analysis. In every Rammstein song or video, you will have a lot of messages or metaphors. I think "Zeit" or "Deutschland" (official videos) could be very interesting for you. And the live performances are absolute amazing. One of the best live bands. Thank you.
Nice reaction. I don't think they see you or the American people as their main target here. It's imo the politics and the cooperations running over other countries and cultures. That image with Santa in Africa makes me gasp every time I see this video.
For me the strongest part is the indigenous people singing "this is not a love song. I don't speak my mother tongue" referring to them having been forced to speak English, even though they'd lived in their own country

I love Rammstein for their more quite Songs, like "Ohne dich" or "Stirb nicht vor mir". Shows that they really know how to make music and not only big Shows. Besides beeing to extreme in many moments, musically they are one of the best bands world wide

One of my son’s favorite bands! He even started learning German so he could understand the lyrics more readily. Not really sure what to think of the song as a whole, but I think you’re pretty close with your summation.

As for the way you are doing it - I suggest going to "educatedmarine" youtube channel, since this user has added English translations (either in CCs, or just embedded) to many Rammstein songs.
I would suggest something less common: Educatedmarine has created custom video for Rammstein's "Dalai Lama" song, which didn't have a video. Please react to that, it is quite an old song but very well written!

The song probably sings how America controls the world, wants it and everyone dances to its tune, figuratively speaking.

Here it is so clear. Vietnam, Iraq, Yugoslavia, Syria, Afghanistan, etc. At the same time, everyone in America, that is, they eat hamburgers and drink Coca-Cola. and at the end of the day rammstein basically blames both sides: the american side for pushing their 'culture' on others, but at the same time also blaming the other side for letting that happen.
It’s not about exports of goods, Germany exports about the same, even way more products, because they don’t export oil gas or gold. And u r just a few million infront of the in exports. I mean It could be Adidas or puma shoes in the video, but they don’t sell their agenda with it.

....and one of the American military bases in Germany is called Rammstein 🤯
The band is named after the military base, or rather the airshow catastrophe there. They chose the name for shock effect.
the problem is that peple outside usa love only a part of us culture movies music sports but rest of it it is scary
What Rammstein is saying in this song is that all the people in the world including americans embraced american „values”. The american values pictured here are: unhealty food and drinks, gasoline, cigaretes, cheap fakes, children icons, war for profit. They are saying that we replaced real values with american icons, that we all replaced playing a piano with playing a pinball machine. And they say we did all of this because we all belived that Amerika is great based on the moonlanding which is fake also.

Yep! When I was still in the service (2000 - 2006) we would sometimes stop there for refueling while on the way to another deployment. Sometimes we would stop in Frankfurt

Just wanna say , I am a German living in the UK and I for one love America and am glad and thankful that it's you guys policing the world as opposed to other nations that shall remain unnamed ,or no one ,imagine that, no one policing the world. Don't feel guilty here... You have one advantage that puts you in a favourable position to begin with: You are American.
But that doesn't necessarily make you the target of this message. US-American "culture", in the form of items and foods, is exported into the very last corners of the world, and has sometimes a large cultural impact and influence. This is not always met with enthusiasm - and sparks (sometimes radical) counter movements. It's a fact that, by exporting goods and how they are used, US-American culture has been pushed onto the whole planet and changed the way we exist as a global society. Therefore, to some degree, we all now live a little bit in Amerika.
As you said, we need to see this from the outside perspective. This song is a little bit of a reaction of what the US did globally after 9/11 - and the political aspect ends exactly here. The US started dictating what is good or evil and took leadership. See it from this angle: Around the time this song was released, the US impact and pressure on this world was so aggressive and severe that even an unpolitical band like Rammstein felt that had to make some sort of statement.
You are not the one forcefully pushing US cultures and values onto other peoples, the corporations and the intertwined government do - and that's simply what this song says. (Rammstein is always simple in its complexity)

I don't think, that it is a problem per se, that the US is policing. But it is a problem that they don't do it to make the world better, but to only serve their own interest. As Spiderman would say: from great power comes great responsibility ;-)
The problem is more, that American pop culture is consuming a lot of regional cultures and at the same time a lot of Americans are oblivious that there are a lot of different cultures in which there is a good living. How could you (not you personaly ;-) ) policing the world without anything knowing about the world? And how could you think you can jugde other cultures when you don't realy work on your own dark history? Look at the reservations of the native people of north America or at the disparities still suffered by coulored people in the US. School books in the south of the US till the kids, that there had been slavery, but they don't teach the kids, that the civil war was about of ending slavery, but on the autonomous rights of the states as an abstract. And so on... A country should not only be proud of its better parts of history, but also stand to the own attrocities and teach their children about them. That isn't realy the case in the US (or in the UK for that matter).
