This is truly fantastic advice and something that applies to many games, especially older Unreal Engine games. You push the FPS and get very unpredictable results.
This is gold!..I have tried every setting for years...from graphics settings to NVIDIA settings to changing values in the Config.cfg file...nothing worked like these two simple settings as well as the 59hz refresh rate in-game change. Thank you very much for this! I'm using a Lenovo Y740 Gaming Laptop with an RTX2070 Max-Q GPU and a 60hz external monitor...my game looks and runs perfectly now at 300% scaling and 60FPS.
Watching your video on jbx and png downloaded both of them. Was having issues with for going down to 30fps with a 3061ti. This fixed everything. Much appreciated. Keep up the killer content
I've tried these settings, my own settings, the default presets etc etc etc .... the best settings for my rig are from the NVIDIA GeForce Experience software where you can choose to "Optimize" settings for this game. Based on these settings ATS runs better than it ever has.
Been trying to fix my stuttering issue for awhile but couldn’t. After doing these 2 things & bumping up the scaling to 300% it’s incredible now. This is with a 4070ti. Thanks so much for making this video.
Thank you for the advice, I followed your instructions. I've been away from ATS for past 14 months then tried it again this past Saturday day, after re-installing it from Steam, everything ran great. I bought a couple more trucks, a trailer and hired a couple more drivers. It was running so good, I decided to add the last four DLC's. The next day, Sunday I started running freight across Texas to finish all the cities to be discovered. From that day on, the stuttering started has been getting worse all this week to the point of freezing up every 10 - 15 seconds for durations or 2 - 8 seconds.

Just an update about using these two excellent settings. I have recently added an external 24 inch monitor 1080P @ 60hz to my Gaming Laptop and I am able to run my game at 400 % scaling and everything on HIGH in the graphics settings (I turn SSAO and Antialiasing OFF) my game is running butter smooth at 60FPS across the map...it also works the same in ETS2!..Many thanks to Mike...you gained a loyal subscriber here my man.

At the end of summer of 2024 they made a statement that they will be enhancing the performances and engines since while they add more DLCS they need to make sure that everybody can play
Did something change since this video was made? Im running the game with maxed out graphics settings and 400% scaling and its running buttery smooth around 200 fps on my 3440x1440 widescreen monitor. Setting the game to 60 like that makes it feel horrible, slow and a blurry mess when you pan the camera around. The game engine works just fine at higher framerates and sub 6 ms fametimes. NOT NEED TO LOCK FPS!!! But if you want to play ok, you need to spend a lot of hours to find your best configuration! Because scs only steal money selling copy/past maps for more than 10 years!!! So, if you are willing to make some effort for your game try this: Start a new profile! Clean!! Play first delivery without any mods with your pc maximum graphics capability! You'll see you don't need to lock fps! Now, install mods maps and the rest you want BUT!!!!.....one by one (maps, weather, pack by pack) you'll see which mods create stutter which not, which kill fps which not! I found that almost all modded trailers creates lagging!!! In fact I use none!!! I was looking for the fps drop fix when driving in-cab while it's raining but this didn't fix it. I have no problems with fps when driving using any of the outside views during rain nor during regular non-rainy days.
I've tried all these and the game still didn't run right. The ultimate solution for me was to set the application to only use one or two cores. When this game was created it was not designed for the level of multithreading that CPU's can handle now and thus this causes threads to get out of sync. I have changed my system to only use 4 threads/2 CPU's for this game and now ATS runs smooth as can be at the highest settings across the board. Before this the game would stutter on the lowest settings possible.
@@JohnWayne-1984 I was able to fix mine by telling the game to only use 2 core/4 threads because it seems the game wasn't designed for a lot of multi-threading. You can set the number of threads by doing the following: 1) start the game. 2) open task manager while the game is running and click on the details tab. 3) find the amtrucks.exe in the list and right click on it. 4) you will now see some option and one is set affinity. Click this. 5) You should now see a list of all the CPU's (actually threads) you have. Uncheck all but 4. It really doesn't matter which for but I chose 0-3. 6) Switch back to the game and play stutter free. Unfortunately you will have to do this every time you play unless you can find some software that allows you to retain this change, you create a macro or you edit the registry.

Well game engine is the same, so I've kept the 60 FPS locked, but the background I max 400
How do i get a better draw distance to stop everything in front of me from just popping in
Hello friend, what you want to do is goto the config.cfg file, look for g_lod_factor_parked and g_lod_factor_traffic. Those may be at 1.0 which is a super short draw distance, try setting those at 10.
What if I have a and graphics card?
Since i use trackir and it wants 120fps to work smooth. This does not work for me.
I never had that issue when I ran my track ir. What happens if you have a 60hz monitor 🤔
@@MikePettGaming i have not tried. i have had 144 and 240 monitors for longer than i have used trackir. As soon as the fps drops below 120fps i get stutters when i move my head. It has been that way on 3 different pc builds and 3 different screens. My brother has got the same issue. If i turn the trackir off and move my head with the mouse while driving it is stutterfree.
I tried these setting on my system and I'm running Windows 11 and it didn't seem to work. I cant play mine on ultra settings in game because I'm stilling 40 fps it hasn't changed at all which is kind of annoying. For me to get anywhere to 60fps I have to run my game on medium settings and looks shit is there anything I'm doing wrong?
Will this work on AMD graphics cards as well. I've had a shuttering and lagging issue for awhile now. And I have about 66 mods that I normally run. Game runs fine on the mod maps but when I am in the base game map I always crash to the desktop. Thanks for the help!
Hey Mike! Do you have vsync enabled in the NVIDIA control panel?
@@taneshag5337 don't enable vsync bro
it still didn't help fix. can you help? when I run OBS it drops in the game. and it never did before!
That happens to me too the game is demanding already recording on obs demands more so...
Hey Mike thanks for the video does ETS2 work in the same way. I mean do I have find the ETS2 profile.
Yes!
Is this good for me if my pc specs are 32gb ram, 7800x3d, 4080 super and monitor is 1440p @240hz. FPS is usually all over the place and stutters more frequently then I would like. Thanks for any info
Yup!
Well…i have a problem,i use trackir and i tried 60fps,it seemed to be smoother yes and more stable but now the game is a blurry mess, whenever i look around in any direction even in the slightest it blurs like all hell and i cant figure out anything to solve the problem,at 120 its not too bad but its spikey frfr but the screen is very clear and not blurry at all
Hmm 🤔 I’ve used both TrackIR 5 and Tobii. I’ll do some digging to see if we can help ya out!
@@MikePettGaming thank you sir!!!
I have an issue:
In the Nvidia control panel, maximum frame rate is missing.
Is it a graphic card thing or something else?
What GPU are you using
@@MikePettGaming Nvidia GeForce 210
@@mmvolnutt64 you have one of the oldest graphics cards of all time friend, highly doubt you can even run ats in low settins
Hello...can i also to this in ETS2?
Yes

was this made right after the stream
No lol but same profile

how did u get ur fps to show in ats?
Through Steam
Hiya mate, I’ve done this both on ats = 34fps and ETS = 57fps both on same settings! I don’t understand how I’ve not got the same result also using a (GTX 1650-OC 4GB) any help would be appreciated. Thanks
when i go in game my two options or default or 120Hz nothing else
Default id do and make sure the other setting is locked
Do u have to put it to 60 FPS can u put it higher?
You can put it at 10,000 lol but the game can’t not understand anything over 60. It tries to and actually hurts your performance
Can i achieve 60fps on rx 550 4gb
Is 59hz and 60hz the same thing
Basically
what do I do if I have an AMD GPU?
Same

57 is still wonders. Problem is once you hit 61 it becomes more of a negative. 50-60 is great !
@@MikePettGaming but also on ATS I only get 34FPS following these steps so I’m not sure
thank you.
Didn't work for me, there's a mod causing the issue for me and because I have 20 mods, i will basically have to try 1 by 1 to see which one is causing my headaches.
I have almost 300 😭
@@auzten-shorts4608 you're cooked 💀
I don’t see the 59 hz only the 60
Either is fine on your setup
I made the changes thats in the video but in my game settings it only goes to 30hz is that going to be a problem? Im only getting 20 to 25 fps
Your monitor settings are the in game settings. So you must have a 30hz monitor. If that’s so try and make the control panel max at 30
@@MikePettGaming ok. Thank you
I use amd graphics
If you have a program that does what the Nvidia control panel does. ( your resolution etc ) should see some of the same stuff. I’ll look into ad well!
when i let off the gas the truck slows down a ton how can i stop that?
