Dragon Ball Z (Japanese: ドラゴンボールZ ゼット Hepburn: Doragon Bōru Zetto?, commonly abbreviated as DBZ) is a Japanese anime television series produced by Toei Animation. Dragon Ball Z is the sequel to the Dragon Ball anime and adapts the latter 325 chapters of the original 519-chapter Dragon Ball manga series created by Akira Toriyama, that were published from 1988 to 1995 in Weekly Shōnen Jump. Dragon Ball Z first aired in Japan on Fuji TV from April 25, 1989 to January 31, 1996, before being dubbed in several territories around the world, including the United States, Australia, Europe, India, and Latin America.
Dragon Ball Z follows the adventures of the protagonist Goku who, along with his companions, defends the Earth against an assortment of villains ranging from intergalactic space fighters and conquerors, unnaturally powerful androids and nearly indestructible creatures. While the original Dragon Ball anime followed Goku from his childhood into adulthood, Dragon Ball Z is a continuation of his adult life, but at the same time parallels the maturation of his sons, Gohan and Goten, as well as the evolution of his rivals Piccolo and Vegeta from enemies into allies.
Due to the success of the anime in the United States, the manga chapters comprising its story were initially released by Viz Media under the title Dragon Ball Z. Additional works called animanga were released, which adapt the animation to manga form. Dragon Ball Z's popularity has spawned numerous releases which have come to represent the majority of content in the Dragon Ball universe; including 15 movies and 148 video games, many of them being only released in Japan, and a host of soundtracks stemming from this material. Dragon Ball Z remains a cultural icon through numerous adaptations, including a more-recent remastered broadcast titled Dragon Ball Kai (ドラゴンボール改 カイ Doragon Bōru Kai?, lit. "Dragon Ball Revised", Dragon Ball Z Kai in most international releases). There have also been two sequel series; Dragon Ball GT (1996-1997) and Dragon Ball Super (2015-present).

during anime expo, bandai was the only one that had dragon ball z promotions. all of the japanese employees for bandai toys pronounced it as "sigh-ahn" and laughed that the american way was "say-in" but said it's ok that they pronounce it that way... so i stick with bandai lol

Logically, "Saiya" would be pronounced "sigh-yah", not "sei-yuh". In turn Saiyan would be "sigh-yan", not "sei-yen".
Japan Pronounces different to english. watch the dub not sub you will then learn the pronunciation

What store can I find the general release boxes at. While the Walmart ones are good, literally HALF of the characters are missing.(I'm not counting Mettalic characters)

sorry buddy... this is originally a japanese cartoon that was dubbed for english. the word "saiyan" was a take away from the japanese word "yasai" which is pronounced "yahsigh", which means "vegetable"... do some research, you'll find out that FUNIMATION voice over actors never even watched the original japanese cartoon so they never pronounced it right to begin with.

*I just got into this series, action vinyls by royal subjects, and I'm so sad I'm late to the dragon ball z line. So sad.*
imagine having to break apart goku and vegeta and just switch some things around and you get gogeta or vegeito
that would be super cool actually. i stopped watching the show after the very first season (but will probably begin again now that i have the funimation app) BUT i was able to get SSR gogeta and super vegito in the DOKKAN 3 battle game... which i've been obsessed with.... my super vegito has been awakened to UR but i haven't done anything with my gogeta yet

Max Walker: sadly you are totally wrong. but that's OK. Voice actors never knew anything about the show and guessed on how to pronounce

because what you saw was the "walmart exclusive" case of 12. walmart only has 6 of the 8 characters and different chases. this case is the "general release" case which toys r us, gamestop and direct sales will get. hot topic is about to get their cases this week

I can understand people being upset with your pronunciation of some of the names, but that's just because that's how they remember the English dub. I watched both and they say sayajin in Japanese and I'm sure they say gohan lol. Not hating on you bro. Keep it up. I'll hit that sub button to show you support bro.
THANK YOU!!! so the funniest thing was... when bruce falconer got the chance to do english dubs for dbz, they didn't give him a lot of money to do so, he admitted that he hired voice actors in texas that never saw the show and after they were done... mispronouncing the names, he didn't have enough of a budget to redub with correct names...and by then they just let it roll....
i just was at anime expo and even all of the Bandai booth workers chuckled saying "yeah it's "sigh-yan" and the japanese way is Saiyajin"
the funniest thing is no one is pronouncing the "saiyuki reload blast" anime as "say-yookee" lol

mushedroom's toy box what are you talking about? Falcouner had nothing to do with the dubbing he was strictly a music guy. Looking through all of your old comments I can tell you were just embarrassed by not knowing anything about the show and mispronouncing and then did quick backtracking by trying to make it look like you knew the Japanese pronunciations. You had to read the cards and didn’t recognize piccolo from the first unboxing of him and proceeded to also mispronounce Gohan.
The way he says saiyan and the way he opens the boxes lol makes me #cringe hats wrong with him lol great video none the less lol

just thout id add that they were several goku transparent volor variations for loyal subject super double diamond club. my opinion there not extremely good but holy crap they are rare.............as in one of them only had 98 produced
yes. i got one of each. dbz orange and black. didn't get clear though. even the orange and black are super rare at only 451 per color... clear at 98 only. BUT the "club 28" is even more rare... only 28 made.
