Great comparison! Thanks. More of such VC vs Patek comparisons would be greatly appreciated !
I’d take the VC for one simple reason - its lack of case plating. I wished brands wouldn’t try to disguise metals into something that they’re not by plating them, whether it be on the outside of the watch or components of the movement. Aside from platings tending to look ugly when they tarnish and wear off over time, it tends to tarnish the entire brand although makers like PP can manage to get by with it every once in a while. But so long as certain other makers, such as Longines, Tag Heuer, and others have gold plated models, their entire brand is only going to reach a certain echelon in the eyes of watch connoisseurs.
Its a shame these top tier brands went along with the hugh watch trends. The neo vintage pieces from the 90s look so much more elegant.
40-42mm are by far the biggest sellers across the top brands. Why would they focus on what sells less?
Agreed, the neo-vintage pieces are much more attractive to my eye.
In what universe is 40-42 mm "huge"? Even for a dress swatch, it's only a little bigger than usual.
Huge for dress watches which should really just be 37 max. Though the new max has sort of been moved to 39 depending on execution. Anything else just looks like a dinner plate regardless of wrist size.@@DavidJames-px6go
Aesthetics wise, VACHERON I think is the better looking watch.
Can't stand the sliced numerals on the PP, so VC for the win, though personally I prefer the Corne de Vache.
I agree that the corne de vache is superior to both
But I personally prefer the thick black markers of the PP over the traditionele. Gives it a more military utilitarian look
Minerva caliber 16.29 puts both of these to shame. Still two great pieces.
The VC just looks like it was made to be bigger than it had to be. The Patek's huge bezel kinda helps it work a little better.
Yeah so the Franck Muller 7000DF would be my choice as well. These are a bit large for my taste and while I'd like to pick the Patek over the VC, the rhodium plating on the Patek would be a deal breaker.
If price were no object it would be the 5070 for its design language. It looks and feels more chill and charming compared to the sterile-looking Vacheron (on a different note: I agree with another commenter - the Frank Muller 7000DF is a piece packed with personality and I'd pick it over this PP and VC.).
I bought this popular video watch from nkuwan , which was originally priced at a few thousand dollars, but now it's only $380! It's really suitable to pick up feces!
ALS 1815 chrono over either of these two...
Agreed.
Dial much cleaner on VC, prefer the Vacheron Constantin Les Historiques 1955 Cornes de Vache SS, but 38.5 is too small for my wrist...give me this watch in 41 and it would be my clear fav....
Back in the day before people got obsessed with in house, when people looked at watches like pieces of art instead of talking specs like it's a smart phone
There’s only so much you can innovate on the design front of a watch dial. At some point you have to start innovating on the movements to excite the watch nerds.
@@yashnigam6art is finite. Design and finishing has no limitations. That's the most time consuming and expensive part of watch manufacturing. A modern example is the mark 20 vs ingeniur. Same movement, mark 20 has all machined dial and bracelet finishing to a moderate degree while ingeniur has hand painted dial and hand finished bracelet to a holy trinity level
A-L Breguet has entered the room.
VC for me, assuming I could afford it.
Fantastic
Love them!
Less than half the price than rhodium plated case watch- my choice is Vacheron. And the brand name sounds better than Petit Beurre Patek Philippe.
I vote for the Frank Muller 7000DF, more fun and classic than these two.
I'm a VC guy but that 5070 is my absolute grail from Patek.....so no contest for me, the 5070 (specifically the 5070G that is in your comparison) wins hands down.
Wow!
The VC.
you’re literally my comfort person i love you #nkuwan !
nkuwan 's watches are worth it!
