That ski looks nice. Looks like a Home Depot jetski.
Rob, thanks for the vent hole idea.I found a rubber 2-inch ring that fits perfect.
Looks oem.
those twisties look so fun... I have the ride plate upgrade and tune. I top out at 71mph. The ride plate lifts the nose so I don't get splashed as much.
Twisties are definitely fun. I have the Riva ride plate cut. Once u pass 78mph u start bouncing. That's the only downside
What are you using and how do you keep the black so clean? Wax? The salt water is tough to get out.
Thanks for sharing, did you ultimately end up installing the Riva Ride plate or Deans ride plate? You mentioned in one of your vid's you tried Riva but the plate caused the ski to bounce around, but had also seen where you installed Dean's ride plate. Can you also recommend which one worked the best for you? I had a 2018 SVHO which the ride was excellent, however, I just bought the 2024 FX SVHO and It's terrible in rough water! How difficult it is to install? Anything I need to be aware of when installing? Thanks!!
Dean's doesn't have their own ride plate. They just cut my Riva ride plate. Cutting is shaving the bottom of the plate to raise the front of the ski and gain top end mph. 24 FX svho ride plate is similar to the Riva. The Riva is slightly more extended which causes the bounce. Your stock ride plate is good. The only gain from it would be to have Dean's team or jim cut it
Who did the gator glide for you? How much? Do you notice any difference when cutting hard turns, etc.?
Go to my video "results of a gator glide application on my FX limited" all his info is there. I paid $500. I didn't notice a difference in turning but i have Riva sponsons and they're set on aggressive. Don't know the effects, if any, on stock sponsons. My set up hooks like it's on train rails
Just curious and have 2 quick questions;
1. You don't have any cooling parts. Why not? Is it necessary ?
2. You have a 13/18 prop. Is it Adjusted? What gains did you get from it.
When I went to get my springs, retainers and intercooler done at JP racing he told me there that 2021s already have upgraded cooling and i didn't need that Riva cooling kit. My 13/18 prop isn't repitched. It's already close to my soft rev limiter during cool thin air days as it is. I have another prop repitched at 13/16.5-17 and that was hitting my rev limiter
The prop gave me 1-2mph when i was in the 70s mph range on lower tunes. You do definitely gain over the stock prop. I'm about to test out cut ride plates. OEM cut versus cut Riva ride plate. Might get that done this weekend so i can post a video on the difference and + or - in mph
@@dreknotz1996 my pleasure 👍 stay tuned. I just received my Riva cut plate and will be testing it out tomorrow to upload a new video showing the gains or loss against my OEM dean's team cut plate
Brother, just an update. I got the intake , 13/18 , rideplate, cooling mod, fizzle BOV.
I am on the fence about which 8500 Tune to use , what was your experience and results?
Can I run the AGR version daily or you would recommend using that for the days for racing the boys.
Please help, I ordered 98 octane and am thinking to use that with the AGR tune only.
Any tips on water spots? I have the same ski and they are incredibly tough to remove. Tried all the sauces and and vinegar lol. Pulled out some rubbing compound and still couldn't get them out.
I'll never buy a black ski again. I even have a ceramic coating. The guy didn't use marine so that may be my issue but i do have water spots that i notice. Not so much other people but I'm very picky with my ski and see everything. I use vinegar and water mixed. It's worse in saltwater riding. I try to stay freshwater. Everybody gets these water spots. Some people say they don't but it's because they don't look closely. Black skis are horrible with this
Did you do ribbon delete? If not that will open up some more. (Less restrictions)
Yes i did it. Sorry i forgot to mention that. That was one of my very 1st mods when i bought the ski
RIVA FX1800R has basically the same mods as you do and it goes 84mph at 9000 with 13/18 prop. What is your WOT max consistent RPM?
82mph @88-8900 rpms. Since this video I've lost speed. In the process of working on the pump and impeller
@jetski_misfits.
Gap your plugs at .015"
Do back to back runs with stock and .015" (.010 is better but might not idle good)
Trust me on this, tip from a race engine expert.
I gained 1.2 mph on a stock svho.
Im running 81mph same mods without an aftermarket intercooler in a 2020 Fx , my brother is doing 84 -85!with the Riva cooler same mods.
I changed my ride plate. I'm doing 82.25mph now. Watch my ride plate video. It made a big difference
Yes seems like he would be putting out more mile per hour
On your intake modification, has it held up without breaking?
@@petrosh20 180hrs now and watch my recent videos for the type of riding i do. I don't drag race but i open it up frequently.
Omg😮❤

Where did you get them bumpers from and how do they hook up?
Those are the stock Yamaha bumpers that come with the FX limited. I'm sure you can find them cheaper without the Yamaha name on them. Here's a closer look
ua-cam.com/video/fK83jXohK90/v-deo.html
I recently installed blow off valve and did the ribbon delete and I have a check engine light but doesn’t say code just says contact Yamaha dealer. Everything seems to be running fine. Should I just try and ride it and see if it clears out the code? Ever heard of this?
Did u install the bov hose to the sensor or u did it tapping the intake manifold?
@@Kaulpenney that's the correct way to do it. Yamaha warning codes take about 10mins to clear. See if that's ok. Maybe u tripped a code during the install. Sometimes that happens when I don't disconnect the battery doing stuff like that
Great video. How come you went with Deans ride plate machining vs Riva replacement?
My Riva ride plate is uncut and causes excessive bouncing/purpoising once you pass a certain speed. Dean's team doesn't when I'm alone and without my rear fuel tank rack. When I have a passenger or my tanks i still bounce with dean's plate. I'm having an aggressive cut done on my Riva plate this week. Which should have me in the speed i should be without bouncing.
@@JeTsKi_MiSfItS can you keep us posted please. I just installed the Riva plate and it porpoises a bit. I added 1 washer spacer but haven't tested it yet. Max allowed is 3 spacers. Thanks.
@@andrewsilver i had to add 3 spacers when I had my riva plate on also. Problem with that is that the nose on the FX needs to be up and the washers bring the nose down. A cut Riva plate should remedy the bouncing. I'll definitely make a video showing both dean's plate and a cut Riva plate with the speed differences. I have a feeling the Riva will be faster because it's less drag on the water at top speed
@@andrewsilver just received my Riva ride plate cut and installed it. Will be uploading a video tomorrow night showing the + or - in mph versus my dean's team cut OEM plate
@@JeTsKi_MiSfItS thanks! anxious to hear your results, and your thoughts on the porpoising. I'm thinking I'm going to need to add more washers on mine
Hey have you had any problem before when you installed the pump wedge?I was riding 77 and after installed the worx Pump wedge is running 2 miles less, Please let me know. Thank you
@@ricardoplumey605 every hull has slight variations even tho it's the same model ski. So if u run slower with a wedge take it off. There's a certain nose lift u want that's perfect for your ski
@@JeTsKi_MiSfItS so did you removed the pump wedge from your ski?Is better to get the Riva Ride plate and send it toDean to cut it?
How do you get the hull to not hop? I have the same mods. Anything I can do to the prop or ride plate? Currently got the Riva Ride Plate.
Unfortunately no. If u get a stock cut dean's team ride plate it will alleviate the purpoising but you might lose a mile or so off your top end. All these modded FXs have the same problem of purpoising
@@JeTsKi_MiSfItS Julio from JP told me the same thing, which is why Im not doing anything else to my FX. Probably going to get a GP to get into the 90’s
@@robertciuraru8221 from what I keep reading on the groups some people bounce and some don't. It may be hull variations. My brother is starting his GP build ua-cam.com/video/atd3jsIgNh4/v-deo.html this is him doing retainers. He's actually getting bounce too at 80mph now running at about 8300 rpms during his test runs. I do agree with you. This FX hull just isn't meant for high speed. The previous hull design goes faster with less modding. There's other guys with these FXs running 86 and higher. There's none for this dash screen FX model. A company called candoo makes gps modules for older models. If it's for testing purposes I use a phone app GPS for top speed calculations
How is that exhaust for drone?
My free flow did it really bad at 4000rpm
Yeah it does drone at a certain low rpms. Personally doesn't bother me or my wife at all. It's minor. In my opinion a true free flow should be a gutted OEM waterbox or Riva waterbox. I think that's were the restriction is mainly at. When u pull out the stock exhaust pipe you'll see it's not a major restriction with flow. More for sound

Is there a reason for the breather to be in that location?
No reason. I didn't have a good spot over the motor to secure it. Looks cleaner
East Lake Toho in St Cloud early in the morning in the spring and your going to hit 90 mph.

@@JeTsKi_MiSfItS Its a shame this FX Hull hates speed. Takes so much $$ to get MPH. Very disappointing indeed.
@@dreknotz1996 very true. It's not as easy as modding a GP. U can't just throw on some Riva parts & riva tune and expect to be mid 80s. There's a few shops down here with mid 80 FXs but they have secret mods they don't reveal unless u do your entire ski with them including their own tune
