Osaki Shimojima
It is located in the central part of the Seto Inland Sea, 20 km south of Takehara City, Hiroshima Prefecture. The terrain is steep, centered on Mt. Ichimineji, which has an altitude of 449m, but since the mid-Meiji era, the steep slopes have been completely converted into mandarin orange fields, allowing them to receive more than enough sunlight. obtained a position. The Mitarai district in the eastern part of the island flourished as one of the leading commercial ports from the Edo period to modern times, and its historic townscape was designated as an important preservation district for groups of traditional buildings in 1994.
In the former Toyohama town area in the west, ``loon fishing'' using loons that prey on sand eels was popular, but now fewer loons are arriving, and as of 1988, there were no more people fishing for loons. The eastern to central part of the island used to be the Toyomachi area, and the southwestern part was the Toyohama town area, but both were incorporated into Kure City in March 2005. In addition, the bridge has created the Akinada Tobishima Kaido, which connects Shimokamagari Island to Okamura Island in Imabari City by land, and the number of people visiting the area by cycling has increased in recent years.
Okamura Island
An island located at the northwest tip of Ehime Prefecture, almost in the center of the Geiyo Islands. It is 17km from Imabari and 37km from Hiroshima. It has long been a key transportation hub for the Sainada, and has been a stop for figures such as Kukai and Sugawara Michizane since the Heian period. During the Sengoku period, a fort was built for the Murakami Navy. In the mid-Edo period, it flourished as a tide-waiting port along with Mitarai Port on the neighboring island of Osaki-Shimojima, and in 1740 a lighthouse was placed at Kannonzaki at the southern tip of the island. Citrus cultivation began in the middle of the Meiji period, and during the Taisho period it became known as the island of mandarin oranges. Since then, it has continued to develop as the ``island of mandarin oranges and fish,'' and has become a scenic spot in the Seto Inland Sea National Park, perfect for mandarin orange picking, hiking, and seasonal recreation. In 1989, a rare butterfly, the black swallowtail butterfly, was discovered, and there is a movement to create a butterfly sanctuary called ``Butterfly Island.'' In 2008, the Akinada Tobishima Kaido, which connects Okamura Island to the land area of Kure City, Hiroshima Prefecture, with seven bridges, was completed and connected to the mainland. The number of tourists visiting the island by cycling is also increasing.

こんにちは。いつもながらの見事な映像、曽遊地なら感慨はなおさらというところです。また、昔話でお許しを。1968（昭和43）年の春休み、まだ島を繋ぐ橋など全くない時代です。尾道→瀬戸田→宮浦→木江→大長…御手洗→呉と船を乗り継いで歩きました。遊郭の跡など､若者にもよくわかりました。大長の船溜まりの北側の丘に神社があり、桜咲く広場に地元の人が毛氈を敷き、ご馳走を前に歌会か句会を開いておられ､歓迎していただきました。絵のような景色でした……
いつもご視聴いただきありがとうございます😊昭和43年ですか！過疎化の兆しが見え始めていたとは思いますが、まだ日本の地方が繁栄していた町並みを見ることができた時期ですね。大長の神社でのお話、情景が想像できます。
木江の遊郭跡は1997年に最初に訪れましたが、その頃は建物が建ち並んでいて、八百屋さんか何かのお店が営業していました。
とわいえまだ残っている部分もあるので、今でできる記録を残していきたいと思っています。

４５年ほど前に仕事で竹原辺りからフェリーで各島廻りしたが駄目でした 其の頃との違いは橋が架かった事ぐらいかな？旅館で一泊して広島市に帰った記憶、御手洗史は高額で取引されます、古書として貴重な資料です

関西より西では九州も含め、かやぶきが桟瓦ぶきになるケースが多いのだろうか？本瓦葺きの集落はありますか？

The mikan are grown on the hillsides above the town. Look for the lines of trees in the aerial shots as at 01:40.
Thank you as always😊 There were several display windows (showcases) that were on the corners and protruded. I thought that was interesting. Orange orchards were often found on the sunny slopes of the island, and also among the houses in residential areas.
