i'm currently playing a f2p locked character. in which I must do everything availlable to f2p. that counts 99 smithing and the beginner clue log and event logs ( stale baguette as well)
Luckily the price of a bryophytas essence has gone up just as much. I think if I wanted to escape f2p I'd go with that. But yea the price of a bond is crazy nowadays. I used to pay my membership through GP buying bonds. But now I just pay for membership instead.
@@SaintShiba partially id say thats because jagex inflated bond value for reason. Its beneficial for them to do this way. For example few bonds in rs3 can basically buy middle tier gear set for someone who buys membership via money. At the end of the day its jagex who profits it… Sure Bryophyta is optional Boss I guess for f2p to farm o become member again. In a way.
Typing this at the start of the video - I was never a member until I got my first job when I turned 16. My childhood from 2004-2011 was all F2P. Managed to get all 80+ stats (around 65 Runecrafting though) in F2P. I did it happily and had the most joy I'd ever experience in the game during that time. Nothing was more therapeutic than chopping Yews in Edgeville or Willows in Draynor with others, or when I wanted to make money I'd go superheat a full inventory of adamant bars in my inventory at the Mining Guild. Nowadays, the grind feels immense and lonely and extremely efficiency-based and sucks the fun out of the game for me. Looking forward to watching this.
I had the same experience as a kid although would get a month of membership sometimes.. I also did adamant mining lol. My grand plan back then was to smith adamant axes and sell them at draynor.. I spent what felt like weeks doing it and then I only sold like 3 lol. You're 100% right that F2P seems more chill and sociable than member worlds now. I'd recommend jumping in and out of some clans until you find a group that you gel well with. It really helps with the social side of things. Hopefully you enjoy the video 🤞
Honestly EXACTLY when the video starts is pure gold to any new player (who has literally NEVER played osrs). Talk about overly helpful. This video needs to be one of the first videos a newplayer watches when searching for tutorials needing help with grasping the game right away AND getting hella hooked up super quickly! A++++++ to you SaintShiba
A very nice comment thank you versace! I always try to be helpful in my videos/ingame with my clan and give tips along the way. I'm working on some straight up guides too that'll be aimed specifically at beginners and med levels. So to know that I'm hitting that mark is really valuable to me :)
when i first started playing runescape i only played f2p and said id start paying if i made myself my first bond in f2p, i held to this and made my first bond (6m at the time) after so many grueling hours of crafting jewlery + chopping yew trees to 75. had alot of fun, but boy do i encourage people to do that, its such a crazy difference
@@hollymoder definitely sets you up mentally for all the crazy grinds that you’re signing up for by playing this game. Also F2P is a lot less content so it’s not quite as overwhelming to new players
@@hollymoder Today is not really recommend to start an account from f2p to earn a bond. Unlike 2018(mobile version just release) the time I re started playing this game. Bond is 2.5m-3m at that time. Collecting zammy wine is also good because it is 3x-4x higher compared the price now, same as tele grabbing nature rune on the wildy etc. The price of bond become higher and the f2p money making option now become limited

Back when they finally enabled the g.e I decided to try getting back in but I wanted the mage lvl to charge air orbs and with a fresh g.e steel bar super heating was something like 300-400k an hr profit up until maybe 24hrs post g.e so I got to 80 mage before subbing cool to see it's still viable
That is crazy money for superheating too. I looked up current prices and unfortunately its around break even at the moment now but higher level bars are still profit. @@morrisdennison8039 Runecrafting would have to be the worst to max. Atleast with smithing you could likely profit with that nowadays unless you're an ironman
I think this account should return and get 10m to 100m, but I believe 100m gp should be a goal to get then used some for 2 to 3 bonds to build up the account. Or show 1m to 5m profit on high alchemy. Like high alchemy minus nature rune equal profit. Yes fire runes should be included take out, but cost of fire staff at let's say 1,500 gp after 1.5k casts you already return cost of it.
Yea theres lots of ways to carry on this account. I'd like to max on it if I did continue and go for all the log slots etc too. Will be playing all the other account builds first and see which one people liked the most :)
One absolute gold sink is the true f2p BiS Ranging: Gilded D'hide. Just like how God D'hide is better than Black, Gilded is better than Green, it'll just set you back a cool 24mil at time of posting. On the topic of Bryophyta Essence being about the cost of a bond... To go on drop rate for one you'd need about 6,660 Moss Giant kills, except that's a small lie, that's the wilderness key rate, the normal rate is twice that, over 13,000 Moss Giants, for a roughly 63% chance to get an essence. One final note: Unless the color clashing murders your eyeballs, F2P does have a magic legs: the Zamorak Monk Robes
The year was 2005.. I pulled together literally cash and quarters and mailed them into jagex to pay for my monthly subscription. It was a simpler time. What other game allowed you to mail in cash to pay for a sub?? Free to play has changed so much since then.
Yo ive just found your channel and the video was really interesting!! I wanted to know, What plugin made the obor keys light up purple like that? Also the collection log popup at 19:11
The lootbeam one is 'Ground items'. Open the plugin and scroll down, you can have different lights depending on how valuable stuff is and customise the values. Or do what I do and only do it for highlighted items which is at the very bottom. Can type in items seperated by commas into the highlighted items thing at the top or just hold alt and select an item when its already on the floor. For the log slot pop up thats just a normal game setting, go to settings next to logout button. Click all settings, search 'collection log' and theres one for pop ups and notifications. Turn them both on. Hope that helps and enjoy the vids :)
I'm gonna be ranging ogresses to 99 range on my f2p completionist. The runes and gem drops are critical for magic and crafting as the grinding to 99 is gonna require an imperial fuck ton of gems and nats. The big bones are also a nice boost to prayer as big bones and lamping are the only way I'm going to get prayer to 99 and the XP rates are fucking abysmal. I'm a sucker for fashionscape and have all trimmed rune sets including a matching scim for all God rune sets, dragonstone, black wizzy g, and green dhide g and matching boots and gloves for each set. As a kid I remember buying my first trimmed rune set and thought it was the coolest thing ever. Now, adult me just went and got all of em so I don't have to figure out which one I like best.
Prayer and Runecraft have to be the worst things to train in F2P. Atleast you can buy vile ashes now which are slightly better. But yea ogress shamans is probably the way to go longterm for sure. I do like the other rune trimmed sets too, not a fan of dragonstone armour though :S
I have like 500 hours on osrs but the only thing I ever really did was grind combat levels. I have done almost nothing in the game and consider my self still to be quite the noob. Smithing is almost 90 though.
90 Smithing is quite insane considering you've spent most of that time grinding combat levels. Personally I really enjoy skilling, most of it is AFK nowadays and some can help out alot with combat. Mining for TOA/Chambers and Agility in general.
I made a free to play account a few years back with the goal to get level 50 on every F2P skill and I never thought to do alching. I just bought a bond and sold it for a few mil so I didn't have to put any time into money making
@@isaacribeiro6823 I didn't say anything about them being best in slot for melee. What are you talking about? I said they're best in slot for fashion :)
@@SaintShiba are you telling me with all the random events fancy boots is be best fashion scape in f2p? there are 2 boots with stats and there are dozents with out and just by luck fancy are the best for fashion and combat, sure.
literally had just finished your skiller one and then noticed this brand new one! Is that your clan chat? I've recently returned to my hcim after a big break from rs
i got maybe a nice idea. Go from F2P (maybe with own restrictions of Ironman) to Memberships without paying with real money. Then set a goal members goals like quest cape or fire cape? And constantly pay your membership with coins btw i love these vids aswell, they are so entertaining!
I really wanna get into RS as much as I did when I was younger, but right now its too much of a sweat. Zezima is just a drop in the ocean now, with everyone being legends at max.
On the 27th leagues 5 starts. It's a temporary mode but you get like 15x xp rates and drop rates for boss items are much better. You get loads of OP abilities too like banking anywhere etc. I'd recommend trying it out if the main game is too much. Plus you get a bunch of rewards for the main game that you can sell on the GE if you wanted to.
@@SaintShiba Yeah lol, but I died my first hcim on disconnection lol. But what I mean is that, after many pking things on my pk account or my main accont. I kinda feel relax grinding an hour on my f2p even if this is hcim or not, I kinda enjoying the hard grind on it.
I go to F2P all the time and compared to members.. the community is so much more fun and interactive. Even if f2p is flooded with bots in comparison. It seems more like the “old school” of RS like back in 2005-2007. Anytime I try and chat in members either no one says a word or it’s super bland and serious.
Yea the social side of things with strangers is much better in F2P for sure. People don't mind bank standing and talking. I feel like what's helped me with that side of things in members is being in a clan. Can always chat no matter where you are ingame and grats each other on the achievements with those new broadcasts. But yea it's not the same.
@@SaintShiba you are exactly right. I was in a clan with a good sized group back in 2019. I took a long break and came back in… end of 2020? No clue what happened, as it seems no one logs into the clan at all anymore. The clan leader I knew well I looked up and it seems he has basically all 99’s now. Must have stopped playing after getting that. So sad too - was such a great group of people!
It's the clan cloak. Forgot to explain that in the video. You have to be in a clan and the leader gets to choose what colour and symbols go on it. You claim it from the 'clerk' by clan hall portal at the GE :)
Yea for sure. I'm still deciding if I want to do RS3 as an ironman or not. Either way I want to play it completely blind and see how fun it could be. I'm also going to be doing RSC.
If you haven't played P2P then I'd highly recommend that for sure. I just liked playing F2P as its a fresh way to think about playing the game. The limitations are fun in a way. Kinda like how people play ironmen if you see what I mean.
@@SaintShiba yeah, the one that did the nirvana cover too. It's cool that you decided to use that to get around copywrite, I'm curious why other creators haven't done it. And ty
Yep! Look up unpragmatic covers on youtube. They do tons of different popular songs with the OSRS soundfont. Tyler also dropped a teaser for next album, can't wait.
If you can grind out 3 bonds in F2P you are built for runescape. I'm sure you have already but make sure you look up some guides on how to maintain a bond once you get into p2p. Herb runs are a real good one to do.
i think some other fun side accounts would be area locked! they're very niche and explore cool unseen content, Tirannwn and Varlamore both have some pretty cool progressions and grinds (SOTE/Gauntlet & Perilous Moons/Colosseum), and of course Zeah, Karamja, Morytania, Wilderness, Fremmenik, etc. I know all of these have kind of been done before but I figure they're fun side grinds while doing completionist on the main, and would be super entertaining
I do have area locked written down and I do like both of those areas. The only problem is that I have to set some goals for 100 hours of progress and hopefully some kind of milestone goal. So I've been struggling to choose where I'd go 🤔
As someone who just started playing again for the first time since 2007-ish it feels like GP inflation has semi-broken the game. Ironman feels more true to what playing a normal account used to be but not being able to trade at all sucks.
It's not that bad honestly, everything costs mostly the same. The GE tax helps with item sinks too. For me the collection log is great for main accounts because drops have more meaning and I don't have to do the ironman chores.
Man's played the game forever and still calls them "SKIM-itars." - Yea, we did love our Rune Skimmys. Those were the old days, hehe. Good memories of not knowing. But, yes, the word is pronounced "SIM-itars." Otherwise enjoyed the video, Shiba.

@@airplane312 who wants to watch a video of high qlching that long ... Just work half an hour irl and buy a bond
Was simpler times back then. I used to use our landline to pay for membership. Used to get in big trouble when my parents got the phone bill lol.
the hammer can be used while wielded in f2p but you have to equip it in a members world iirc
Yea it feels so pointless gatekeeping it behind p2p considering most players doing camdozaal are f2p. It's not like its a massive buff for f2p.
The nostalgia hits different
Ive been playing f2p for years and still love it tbh
Man that intro music gave me more nostalgia than f2p itself lol.
Bro the arcanists music unlocked a childhood memory 😂
good times 🥲
Love the tyler the creator and brockhampton RS music in the background
Finally someone recognised the tracks lol. Lots of people love the arcanists music but this is the first comment about the other tracks :)
@@MarkVMark5 omg i missed them...do you have timestamps?
To be fair though the lack of teleport and transport options doesn’t matter as much because there’s less game world to play in
2:47 lol fell for it
i was POOR, i needed that money >:(
I have like 500 hours on osrs but the only thing I ever really did was grind combat levels.
You bought a bond and stayed free to play? Have you tried p2p worlds since? Highly recommend it if not!
There's people on the high scores who have killed bryophyta like 6k times. That's so many moss giants
Yea I think rank 1 Obor is f2p too, nuts.
12 hours in and you beat elvarg, I started in late november and beat elvarg in april, I feel ashamed lol
Wish i ciuld play rhis for the first time again
lol "people" fishing near barbarian
That was a great 42 minutes ❤
combat level the funny number, haha i love this series
F2p is the real hard mode in runescape
2:21 fashion scape boots, is the best in slot for melee what are you talking about?
@@isaacribeiro6823 I didn't say anything about them being best in slot for melee. What are you talking about? I said they're best in slot for fashion :)
@@SaintShiba are you telling me with all the random events fancy boots is be best fashion scape in f2p? there are 2 boots with stats and there are dozents with out and just by luck fancy are the best for fashion and combat, sure.
literally had just finished your skiller one and then noticed this brand new one! Is that your clan chat? I've recently returned to my hcim after a big break from rs
That is my clan yea! Join the discord and we have some instructions on how to join etc: discord.gg/ScQyk9GdBz
At hour 8 9:15, how the hell did that guy get in there? I didn't think it was possible.
Keep watching the video, I show how I did the same and unlocked the infinite money bag ;)
19:09 how do you get the purple thing above the key like that?
Loot beams! It's in the ground items plugin on runelite :)
Loving the videos! But the c in scimitar is silent.
oops
Furnace at Draynor is now also for F2P, so little faster with crafting.
Draynor? Did you mean edge ville? I went there afterwards
@@SaintShiba Lol i meant edgeville indeed
24:16 nice
Dang I was f2p for years as a child had 80 fishing and 83 wc lol w base 80s combats lol in an era where p2p accs didn't even have them stats
Even to this day some don't! I was so lost as a kid I think the best stat I had was like 70 mining lol
Obor Club and Bryophyta Essence are two of my last logs
Biiiiiiiig I needed inspiration for George Mein
incredible name for the main account btw
i got maybe a nice idea. Go from F2P (maybe with own restrictions of Ironman) to Memberships without paying with real money. Then set a goal members goals like quest cape or fire cape? And constantly pay your membership with coins
btw i love these vids aswell, they are so entertaining!
Yea I would like to make a video on maintaining a bond in the future for sure. Thanks for the ideas :)
"the runescape skimitar"
I really wanna get into RS as much as I did when I was younger, but right now its too much of a sweat. Zezima is just a drop in the ocean now, with everyone being legends at max.
On the 27th leagues 5 starts. It's a temporary mode but you get like 15x xp rates and drop rates for boss items are much better. You get loads of OP abilities too like banking anywhere etc. I'd recommend trying it out if the main game is too much.
Plus you get a bunch of rewards for the main game that you can sell on the GE if you wanted to.
The tyler music goes hard
one of my fave artists, look up unpragmatic covers on youtube. they remake popular songs with the runescape soundfont and they are bangers
why not use edgeville furnace... right next to the ge???
I did after a little while
You should consider narrating for audio books, the whole time it sounded like you were reading a book to me lol
I'll take that as a compliment I think lol thanks :)
Ha! Yeah I agree. Dude has a very soothing and clear voice.
Making a 2nd f2p account is really refreshing. I also made a HCIM f2p and I kinda feel relax using it or maybe its just me😅😊
Hcim I'm F2p sure would be more relaxing than members. Not too many things that can instantly KO you lol.
So sad too - was such a great group of people!
lmfao donates entire bank to a player: "thx"
Wanted to give it to the castle wars guy but he straight up ignored me lol
what cape is that with the star and two swords? I cant find info on it anywhere
It's the clan cloak. Forgot to explain that in the video. You have to be in a clan and the leader gets to choose what colour and symbols go on it. You claim it from the 'clerk' by clan hall portal at the GE :)
@@SaintShiba hahah awesome! thank you so much, ive watched this video a few times now as i grind lol super helpful
i cant believe top comment wasnt that he could have done all that crafting in edgville and saved himself so much time
This was cool. Would you do this for rs3 also?
Yea for sure. I'm still deciding if I want to do RS3 as an ironman or not. Either way I want to play it completely blind and see how fun it could be. I'm also going to be doing RSC.
Well, now I know how to train crafting.
I hope the beggers in ge see this video
Arcanists music in the intro
"Your treasure is worth around 5 coins!"
Oof
Classic beginner clue moment
arcanists mentioned!!!!
I've been playing F2P and I have really enjoyed it, but your description of what f2p can't do is making think about p2p
If you haven't played P2P then I'd highly recommend that for sure. I just liked playing F2P as its a fresh way to think about playing the game. The limitations are fun in a way. Kinda like how people play ironmen if you see what I mean.
Am I hearing the arcanists intro music? Ooh man wish they'd bring that back
There is a fan remaster on steam :)
thought it was OSRS music at the 3 minute marks but it's tyler the creator just OSRS remix :D
i made the same mistake and am now currently stocking 24000 shards
😬
I always liked the simplicity of f2p. The grind gets too insane at higher levels though
100%, there are some wild high level skilling metas though. Like spreading vile ashes whilst firemaking etc.
@@SaintShiba My wrists would die within 15 minutes :P
Wait I just realized, that's tyler the creator in the osrs soundfont omg
@@camillo4308 some brockhampton and others too! Look up unpragmatic covers on UA-cam they do lots of covers :)

is… is that osrs see you again?
Yep! Look up unpragmatic covers on youtube. They do tons of different popular songs with the OSRS soundfont. Tyler also dropped a teaser for next album, can't wait.
So the challenge is... Be poor
I managed to get 3 bonds before ds1 through crafting and alching ruby and diamond necks but I'm learning new things
If you can grind out 3 bonds in F2P you are built for runescape. I'm sure you have already but make sure you look up some guides on how to maintain a bond once you get into p2p. Herb runs are a real good one to do.
i think some other fun side accounts would be area locked! they're very niche and explore cool unseen content,
Tirannwn and Varlamore both have some pretty cool progressions and grinds (SOTE/Gauntlet & Perilous Moons/Colosseum), and of course Zeah, Karamja, Morytania, Wilderness, Fremmenik, etc.
But, yes, the word is pronounced "SIM-itars."
Otherwise enjoyed the video, Shiba.
