What a lovely, knowledgable and passionate gentleman. Loves his job so much that it's not really a job for him! Hope we can all get to see more of him in future videos.
Level of knowledge? Yes, I’ll sort of agree, but how does he not know anything and or have any facts about the car’s performance? How many times did he say “it’s a racing car” or “race car” and know who did the upholstery on the seats but not the horsepower???
@@wnbe-low-me7427 I thought that was a tad weird too and the only thing I can think of is, these cars are so rare (only 16 of them) and so valuable ($30/40m) that no owner would allow theirs to be tested. To much risk sticking a 70 year old, extremly expensive, original engine on a dyno. I know I wouldn't if I was lucky enough to own one! No idea if this is right, its just a theory but it makes sense atleast
I must say, I am a massive Mcqueen fan so the picture of him on his Triumph during the Great escape, which is over my fire place tells me. But even owning an E-type series one, pales to the beauty of the XK. Jealous is not the word. Stunning.
What the guy failed to mention was the reason why Steve Queen wanted a door on the glove compartment. FACT: He wanted somewhere to put his sunglasses and cigarettes!. The car was fully restored and does not have any patina. The car was featured on Jay Leno's Garage a few years ago.
That car is gorgeous. Perfect for Steve McQueen's persona. Love the knowledge of the car and origins of what made it. Lots of love from Australia. Abs.
That car was originally black and belong to a man named Steve Earl. Leave the car was sold to Steve McQueen and he had it painted green and had Tony Nancy do the interior. I saw the car the within a week when it was imported to the United States. I always love that car
I'm certain that I've seen a photo of Steve McQueen, perhaps in the book 'McQueen's Machines' where he is with this car in the original spec. Another great photo is of him tinkering with the motor with the bonnet raised whilst in his wardrobe from 'Wanted: Dead or Alive' the "mares leg" strapped down on his side. He was the "King of Cool". 😎
VonDucth did custom GloveBox for McQueen at Bud Ekins Triumph Shop.Bud did the jump for Steve in the Great Escape Tony Nancy did Leather Trim an his Seahorse Logo
@Producermichale You can have this car kind of. There is a company in the UK that make classic jaguar replicas the body is full sheet metal, made in 100% the same way every rivet placement is the same. Then you get a cheaper car like a E-type and you have all the running gear ect ect. A friend of mine did a D-type and it's absolutely amazing. I believe the body's are around the price of a top spec German saloon, all in if you factor in labour to build one you are looking at £250k+ but you get a serious piece of kit that really is a insult to call it a replica more a "honorary example" that you can afford to buy, insure and actually thrash around in. Get yourself one, go see Jay Leno ask him and his guys for advice and get something in the making Retropower could make you a very special period jaguar, they built a car for Gordon Murray so if he picked them to build his own personal car then they must know something. Anyways I look forward to seeing a classic jag on the channel and hopefully I can watch it being built on UA-cam via RetroPower's channel :-)
5 or 6 years ago you could get 1 of the 16 xkss for around 3-4 million dollars ,jag used the other 9 left over and made the continuation model at £1 million each few years back....ss100,c type,d type, xkss,e type,xk140 all beautiful
tkz Mikiepooh and Adam best car ever, love u both stay safe and member we r waitin on another video ps Mikiepooh u sure looked great in your jacket loved how u match!!!!!
If you get down low and look at the front of this car, added 2 upside down crossed swords on the front of the bonnett its literally a picture of lemmy wearing his hat.(motorhead) .
Do you think they ever fixed the clutch in that thing? Remember how screwed up it was when the car was on Jay Lenos Garage UA-cam channel? You could hear it slip, that was YEARS ago, wonder if they put a new clutch in it ??
It seems that Mr McQueen's stuff just adds to the price. His Rolex watch sold for 2 Million Dollars at auction. A comparable watch was only worth less than 1 Thousand Dollars.
Sadly soon all combustion cars and trucks including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Car washs will be forbidden too because they are climate killers, now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime.!!! (BABVVEN & TEBBVEN & BEFVO laws)!!!!
This particular one - millions and millions because it was Steve’s. However, jaguar recently started making these again from the original plans as brand new. So the car looks just like that from the 60s, but manufactured today. The price for a new one is at least one million dollars, though that’s probably gone up in the past year and a half. The grand tour did an episode on this one and also James Bond’s DB5 which Aston Martin has also brought back into production for at least $1.5M. At least they put modern brakes in the Aston, the xkss does not if I recall correctly.
Hi Mr Michel can we see you buying a car and i like to seeing you buying clothes too because you look amazing all time and thank you for sharing with us all this beautiful thing.
I see this car in London Earl's Court car show in 1980s I can't remember exact year it was for sale £500.000 thousands pounds. Now at least 30 million dollars
you are totally correct, it was displayed on a carpeted plinth that I actually built. It was displayed by Lynx Cars , formally Lynx Engineering in '87 , who fully restored this very car in '85/'86 and was the first car i was lucky enough work on . So yes, Jay Lenos programme on this car was pretty incorrect. fact.
“Only buy something that you’d be perfectly happy to hold if the market shuts down for ten years.”
What a beautiful piece of art!
Weirdly my father made the badges on that car when he was an apprentice at Jaguar. Good video once again. Thanks.
What a lovely, knowledgable and passionate gentleman. Loves his job so much that it's not really a job for him! Hope we can all get to see more of him in future videos.
*Beautiful* car and once again the level of knowledge that man has stored in his head is insane!
Level of knowledge? Yes, I’ll sort of agree, but how does he not know anything and or have any facts about the car’s performance? How many times did he say “it’s a racing car” or “race car” and know who did the upholstery on the seats but not the horsepower???

That Green is EVERYTHING on this car.. wish l could've seen it outside!!
BEAUTIFUL.

It has probably been kept in good condition over the years.
Von Ducth. did the custom glove box for McQueen at Bud Ekins Bike Shop Bud did jump in Great Escape. Tony did the Rest
British racing green looks so good
not trying to hate or anything, but can Adam please use a camera stabilizer at all times?
it's so wobbly, same in house tours.
I love the fact that you have access to places I never would have access to, and that you share them with us here - thanks!
used to service XK 120 and XK 150
That car is gorgeous. Perfect for Steve McQueen's persona. Love the knowledge of the car and origins of what made it. Lots of love from Australia. Abs.
Steve McQueen was an icon he was amazing in the Great Escape taken way to soon RIP the King of Cool

Sweet !! Thanks for showing this dream mobile . I've always loved Jags, but this is a show stopper . I bet Steve McQueen loved that car .
The sports cars of the 40’s/50’s/60’s (Mercedes, Ferrari, Jaguar, Porsche) are truly the pinnacle of automotive design.

How then was it possible for James Dean to get his Porsche 550 Spyder legally registered for the street back in 1955?
