  • AG2PI Workshop #3 - Introduction to SNP Data Analysis
    May 20, 2021
In this workshop, Jacob Landis will go through the basics of SNP calling in the Discovery Environment. He will talk about what can be done with a SNP dataset and why this approach may be more beneficial than other methods for particular projects. He will cover experimental design in relation to generating the necessary sequencing data and what biases may exist in different methods. The workshop will include hands-on tutorials to walk through de novo and reference-based approaches to SNP calling with some common programs. Finally, participants will start exploring how to filter the dataset to address specific questions and work through one example of downstream analyses.
About the Presenter: Dr. Jacob B. Landis is a postdoctoral scholar at Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, working with Chelsea Specht and Jeff Doyle, as well as part of the BTI Computational Biology Center under Susan Strickler. Landis's research interests walk the line between population-level and species-level questions, with emphases on phylogenomics, population genomics, and comparative genomics. Landis has led several webinars and workshops covering SNP calling, downstream population genetics analyses, and de novo genome assembly and annotation.
