What a great tutorial Shirley..thank you so much..(Liverpool - UK obvs).. Exactly what I was looking for.. I can see that your a fabulous artist too..bit shy on the live filming front, but a very good vid..thank you..Charlie
I couldn’t make my stuff work on canvas and messed up the canvas, so this will be a perfect last minute solution. To do it on paper and transfer it. Thankz!! Omg✨
Great thanks so much for sharing while you were showing your artwork for gluing to canvas in the background directly to the back of you some great paintings will you show some in a video. Keep up the great work😱🤗😀✅🇨🇮
I enjoyed the video. Could this be varnished over, As well as using the bondcrete? Would there be any advantage to that, and how do you prepare for hanging. Do you use d rings and cord??? Just curious to know how others do that
I think it could be varnished. Or a thicker second layer of the bondcrete. And yes, I use D rings as they don’t damage other paintings when stacked. I use cord for lighter paintings, and twisted wire for heavier works.
Thank you so much for sharing this valuable info. I just subbed and thumbs upped your channel. So happy to have found you! Much success in your future artistic endeavors!
I’m not sure. The trick is for it to absorb the glue. It might work, as the back of the paper is not varnished. Maybe just do the back, no need to do the front.
Wonderful! ❤ Questions: would this work with paper that is not very thick? I have several, large mono-prints on pastel paper…rather thin paper. I wouldn’t want it to buckle and wrinkle. I would assume the canvas needs to be a good quality sturdy canvas; not an inexpensive one that tends to be thinner. Would that matter? When adhering paper to a board , or collage paper to a surface, artists often use a squeegee or Catalyst wedge to smooth, and get out air bubbles. Do you think you are doing something similar with the brush? (Also, I am considering adding some pastel to these, spraying with fixative, then mounting. Would that work?)
The canvas is cheap. It’s not important. Thin paper might not return to its original form after being wet, so I would experiment with small sample papers.
Wow that's so beautiful Shirley 😍! The colors are evocative 💕 🎨. Question: for watercolor paintings... have you tried mounting and instead of bondcrete on top using wax? I'm inspired to try but wondering if you may have already done that?
Hi Shirley, love your videos, you do such beautiful works. I do have a question - would this method with bondcrete work on an acrylic painting done on a cotton canvas (not stretched canvas)....thank you.
No and yes. I have done it, and I liked that it slightly re-arranged the paint. But watercolour is not waterproof. So expect some streaking. I suggest you experiment on old works.
Hi Shirley - Im curious what is the weight of your paper you did your acrylic painting on? I use acrylic ink on paper and use a lot of water, often the paper warps and it is harder to mount. THanks!
180gsm. Sorry for the late reply. i’ve been absent from UA-cam for awhile but I’m back now and I’ve just uploaded a new video. I hope to do more describing this mounting method.
Wow, I got a little nervous when you started painting the Bondcrete over the painting, lol. Two questions, please: does the canvas need to be primed first? I only primed and painted black the edges and sides of my canvas as my picture is on black tar paper. Also, since my painting is on tar paper, should I top it as you did with the Bondcrete? Actually, the gel medium I want to use is matte Modge Podge.
I think any white liquid woodworking glue would work. Test it in a small greeting card maybe? Someone suggested Modge Podge as an alternative, but I’m not sure.
Thanks Col. It’s spelt “deckle” and it’s the natural edge of paper that forms when the wet ‘stuff’ settles onto the wire bed. I’ll check on the weight, but possibly 200 ish.
I have art studio envy - it's gorgeous!
Thank you for this video and idea for bonding paper to canvas. I'm having severe studio envy- lovely to have so much light and airy space.
Fantastic result. Amazing.
Hello Shirley, love the picture mounting process onto canvas. I have given it a try, and as long as your careful it works.... your inspirational 👍
That’s great. It certainly helps not having to frame everything.
Beautiful painting Shirley. Thank you for sharing your process of mounting it on canvas.
Thankyou Connie!
What a great tutorial Shirley..thank you so much..(Liverpool - UK obvs)..
Exactly what I was looking for.. I can see that your a fabulous artist too..bit shy on the live filming front, but a very good vid..thank you..Charlie
Thank you Charlie. I have just posted a new video, and I’ll do another “mounting” one soon.
That works brilliantly. Thanks for the demo.
I couldn’t make my stuff work on canvas and messed up the canvas, so this will be a perfect last minute solution. To do it on paper and transfer it. Thankz!! Omg✨
Glad I could help!
Love your video. I've done what you recommend here and the result was very nice Thanks for sharing.
Great to hear this. A belated thanks 🙏
Thanks Shirley for your video, it was really informative. I really love the idea of mounting paper on canvas.😊
Thankyou. I hope you have been successful
Love your art and love acrylics. Acrylics are sooo underrated. Very easy to manipulate once you get used to them.
Hi, Shirley. Thank you so much for sharing, it is so useful. I am wondering if you tried it for an oil painting, please let me know, thanks.
No. I’ve not used this for an oil painting.
Very interesting, thank you!
That’s good.

Love your walls 👌
Question; is Bond Creek the same a gel medium in the US?
It's a wood glue.
I enjoyed the video. Could this be varnished over, As well as using the bondcrete? Would there be any advantage to that, and how do you prepare for hanging. Do you use d rings and cord??? Just curious to know how others do that

I have used wax on watercolour paintings..easy and looks great! Retains the watercolour look.
Thank you so much for sharing this valuable info. I just subbed and thumbs upped your channel. So happy to have found you! Much success in your future artistic endeavors!
Thank you for your comment. I am starting to do a new series of videos as of today.
Thanks for this great idea. Will this work with acrylic paintings that have already been varnished? What about acrylic paintings with a glaze?
I’m not sure. The trick is for it to absorb the glue. It might work, as the back of the paper is not varnished. Maybe just do the back, no need to do the front.

So the bond Crete leaves a shine after it dries????
Great work….! God bless
Thank you. Not in my experience. The paper looks as if it has no added surface. It remains matt.
looks lovely.
i love the colours
Thanks Cyber!
Wow that's so beautiful Shirley 😍! The colors are evocative 💕 🎨. Question: for watercolor paintings... have you tried mounting and instead of bondcrete on top using wax? I'm inspired to try but wondering if you may have already done that?
No. I’ve not used wax. It sounds like fun!
If it to be transported to a different place, can the painting be removed from the stretcher bars and rolled..??
Yes. But not a tight roll. Maybe 6”. And always keep the painting surface on the outside of the roll.
Question: To have a white border on the paper do you keep painters tape on from start to finish? Wondering if tape would tear the paper . Thanks 👍
Do you think Mod Podge would work similarly?
I think yes
Your art was beautiful..medium was acrylic on what paper..😊
Watercolour paper.
Very good love the painting. Can you use the bond Crete to glue on black canvas or would it dry white on black canvas
It dries clear.
Thanks Shirley. How do you hang the canvas on the wall? Do you stretch it onto a frame?
Hi John. I use a pre-stretched canvas.
Hi Shirley, love your videos, you do such beautiful works. I do have a question - would this method with bondcrete work on an acrylic painting done on a cotton canvas (not stretched canvas)....thank you.
Sorry for late reply. Yes, I would.
Can this technique be done with a watercolor painting?

Did you prime the canvas prior? thanks so much for your video xx
Sorry for late reply. Yes, I do prime the canvas before mounting the paper on the top.
Wow, I got a little nervous when you started painting the Bondcrete over the painting, lol. Two questions, please: does the canvas need to be primed first? I’d try the Modge everywhere!
❤️❤️❤️
What kind of paper is that...how thick..i.e...how many grams ?
I think it might be 300gsm. But 175gsm works as well
Can you do a video on painting acrylic on paper?
I have one ready to upload! Just need to wrangle the Internet in our area! Hopefully today.
Can you use bondcrete on a paper print I live in Canada where can I buy this product
I think any white liquid woodworking glue would work. Test it in a small greeting card maybe? Someone suggested Modge Podge as an alternative, but I’m not sure.
Thanks! Great video Shirl and beautiful painting. I hope it sells. Is the paper 300gm? And what is a decal, or natural decal?
Thanks Col. It’s spelt “deckle” and it’s the natural edge of paper that forms when the wet ‘stuff’ settles onto the wire bed. I’ll check on the weight, but possibly 200 ish.
It’s a roll of 300 gsm Fabriano paper.
Hi Shirley. Do you need to dilute the wood glue 70 to 30 as well?
Sorry for late reply. Yes.
Thanks but can you tell me what paper you use ?
Fabriano Roll. 10m x 1.5m 300gsm
colour in your life had a watercolour artist a few months ago that stretched their paper into a canvas.
Yes, I’ve done that. It works on a small scale. I’ll check out the CIYL video. Thanks.
Sorry, I meant to say bondcrete.
Bondcrete is a wood glue. It is white when wet, then dries clear.
Hi! I live in the US and I’m having a hard time finding the Bondcrete. Is there another brand that’s similar?? Thank you Heather
Sorry, I'm not sure. Try a white waterbased wood glue that dries to clear. Test it on a sample first.
I’m in the US and they don’t sell bondcrete here. Dang
Suggest you experiment with Mod Podge, or any water based glue that dries clear.
Brush strokes show? You failed to show the surface for us to see if it is smooth or has brush strokes.
They don’t show. It’s a matt finish, and there is no evidence of any surface treatment. Invisible!! Try it on a test piece.
So this is acrylic paper? Not acrylics on watercolor paper?
Watercolour paper.
@@shirleypeters Yes. I wonder if I can do this with acrylic paper... Already painted.
THE AUDIO IS DEFECTIVE. SPEAK UP AND BE CLEAR.-TONY
Yes! I was commuting newbie errors with my audio. More recent vids have improved.
