Life is so fragile. My oldest daughter passed away last week at 36 . No issues, just went to sleep and never woke up. We will never understand it but in time will heal. Sending hugs to anyone who lost a loved one recently
Long time viewer (since the first LA apartment) but a rare commenter. I just wanted to share my life happy moment. Me and my husband are both in the military and we've been long distance for the past year and a half of our relationship, but I'm finally moving in with him for the first time! I'm moving tomorrow and I'm so happy that I could cry. This man is my life partner and I finally get to wake up next to him everyday.
You might want to look into buying a Murphy bed frame. You can keep your current mattress and still give your guests a queen-sized bed. We did this last month with our spare room, and I absolutely love it. If the mattress can fit within your closet, open the closet doors and pull down the mattress. Would be a fun experience for any guests!
I was about to say this, definitely a Murphy bed! You can also keep the headboard, maybe it’ll fit in your storage or maybe your parents would be willing to store it at their house? 🤷🏼♀️ they even have Murphy beds with shelves that stay in place when moved down, they’re so cool!
I want to share that I got engaged recently! It’s so exciting and has brought a lot of light to a really hard year full of loss. Thanks for sharing your journey ❤
also cannot believe you’ve been in your house for 3+ years! i discovered you through the witch storytimes and cannot believe i’ve been watching your every upload for potentially 5+ years???
Desk underneath the window 100%! You’ll want the natural light for doing your painting and you can definitely fit a book shelf and chair on the wall your bed is against 🥰
Not going to lie, this month has been filled with heartache for me as well. This week I had to put my soul dog down that I’ve had for 14+ years. It’s been hard to find joy in things lately, but I guess one fun thing that happened was we got my son a big boy bed and he absolutely loved it 🥰
I feel that on the having to go to more funerals lately but good news in my end I’m 36 weeks pregnant and about to give birth to my second son any time now!!!💛 love you for all your positive and real vibes
As someone who’s lost all grandparents, five out of six aunts/uncles, and two babies of my own, I am just so grateful to have my parents for as long as I can, my partner and our daughter (and one due in January! ❤). Loss sucks. It’s never easy, I’m sorry you are going through this and send you love. They say that grief is love, which is a bit of a comfort. Xx Jenelle
After years of struggling through jobs feeling lost and unsure of where I should be with my career, I finally landed a job I’m extremely excited about!
I agree with you that life is super fragile , this year I lost my dad to suicide in February, therapy and crafting (painting/crocheting/reading) and walking has been such a saviour .. I love that you're putting together a crafty room! I think it's essential that everyone has a little hobby to keep going from the chaos life brings sometimes ♥️ I'm looking forward to watching the upgrade on your room!
Stop because I was seeing a TikTok yesterday and literally thought that you haven’t moved your room around in a long time! You used to always change up your room I miss seeing you struggle move your mattress and screaming pivot to my screen 😭😂
A positive comment: my fiance just recently got put on day shift instead of night shift (he’s a police officer) and it has been so much better! We get to spend so much more time together with our dog and cat! It’s hot where we live currently so your cozy vlogs make me so happy! Love you Tara, sending thoughts and prayers your way!!💕
Vlogs are always a slay. Chicken broth will go great with the cooked butternut squash. You can also add a few tomatoes and carrots to cook under the oven ! Super yummy.
Thank you for talking about mental health, it’s so important!! I work with students in high school that struggle with their mental health. They have a supportive team at school. ❤. Sending love to your family!!
love the craft room idea! i feel like this is going to make it so much easier for you to actually work in the office too because it will be less cluttered with all of your craft things/easier to have zones for different activities! can’t wait to see the redecorating
I'm sorry for your loss Tara, I completely agree with you that we need to all make sure to focus on our health take care of ourselves. Life can turn at any moment and it's a scary/depressing thought. I have lost quite of few family members and friends this year. Sadly it seems to be a more and more frequent thing every year as we get older...just keep your loved ones close and check in on them as much as possible!
The way I needed that intro. Today’s the death anniversary of my mom. She’s been gone for six years and it feels like the first day I lost her all over again. It’s true that we take people for granted when they’re here and ever since her death, I’ve tried to be better about being a better friend and a better family member and just a better person in general to people that love me and people that I love. I pray to her and tell her how sorry I am for not appreciating her more whenever she was alive, she was the best mom ever.
If it’s a memory foam mattress you can buy a big bag and vacuum seal it for storage in your crawl space, & I think the arched bookshelves would be so adorable in your space
I totally get turning a guest room into a functional room for yourself! I did that too! It just didn't make sense to me to have a room for guests who I might have come once a year and then the rest of the time it was never used. Can't wait to see the finished result 😊
I am so very sorry for your loss. Losing a loved one can be truly devastating. You do live your life to the fullest and experience so many wonderful moments! For me, I say Prayers and I’m keeping you and your amazing family in my heart🙏🏻🕊✝️🌸♥️
to improve butternut squash soup - try adding a sweet potato or a few carrots (or both)! and i also like to chop the veggies and saute them in the pot, then add veggie stock and seasoning, cook that until the veggies are soft and then blend. it requires a bit more effort and hanging around in the kitchen but i think it tastes much better when i make it like that
I know you like your current office space, but if it was my space I would use the second bedroom as the office/craft space. With maybe a pull-out bed or air mattress for the occasional guest. And then I would use the old office space as my library. Bookshelves on the wall across from the window with an oversized chair, reading light and side table. But that's just me.
Soup tip - cut the ‘butternut squash’ (pumpkin here in Australia 😊) into smaller pieces/chunks. I personally take the skin off too before roasting that way you can just transfer everything from the tray to the pot. I also add a sweet potato and a few carrots to mine. Hope that helps. Sending love and positive vibes
I see someone suggested a Murphy bed. I think it could work so well, and if the 'underneath' of the bed was cupboard-shelves (so whatevers in there doesn't fall out, when folded down for bed mode), it could work really well! Gonna try your butternut soup recipe, looks delicious ❤
Something positive to add is I’m a junior in nursing school but my three year anniversary with my boyfriend landed during my break from school so we were able to spend the day together 🥰
Hi Tara! i think a desk against the window would be perfect, and a reading corner on the wall with perfect natural light! Can´t wait to see the results! 😍❤
Hey Tara! My idea for your extra room: I really think you should keep most of your guest bedroom furniture and just incorporate a new, big, beautiful desk in the window for your painting station. Maybe just get rid of the chair. That way this room can still function has a gorgeous guest bedroom (and you don’t have to figure out where to store furniture) but dual as your painting studio (you can even decorate the walls with your art to tie it all together!). Still declutterring will help you with painting and craft storage. As far as reading, maybe curate a nook in your office or living room for a bookshelf and a chair. You have so many good places to read around your house that I don’t think you’ll use the upstairs as much as you think, therefor not worth loosing the guest bedroom and having to figure out what to do with all that furniture. Hope this helps!
I'm sitting here in my "studio" which is everything you just mentioned++. I have had to move it 4 times in the last few years - yuk. I don't have a closet here but I did in my old place and I had all my supplies in there it was so awesome. Now I have an Ikea shelf with the square drawers (SO many options) for the stuff. I also have a big table in the middle of the room - love it when junkin. A desk off to the side and a small fake fireplace that you just plug in makes it SO cozy. Pics of travels, friends & family, and travel souvenirs adorn my space. Can't wait to see what you do. Tara, so sorry about your loss, sending you a huge huge virtual hug.
For your craft room/ library/ guest room/ off-season closet you should look into a Murphy bed. It would allow you the space you want. When you don't have guests and a good place for your mattress and then when you do have guests, they can still use the bed. It would be highly functional. And you can also get murphy buds that are bookcases, just in case you wanted to know.
While I have given up my bedroom for cats or guests, I'll never give up my craft room. It's where I do all my crafts, my writing, and my serious thinking/planning. I also have a cat tower and litter boxes in there. 😂 It's the brightest room in my house and I still chose to paint it yellow to make it sunnier. My desk has to be in front of the window. I love looking outside. I love making a butternut squash soup, but have found its easier for me to place the squash cut side down. Something about humidity and altitude that changes recipes for each location.😂 Much love, ma'am. My condolences. Hugs.
Positive thing: my boyfriend and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary together, he booked us a night away that was total surprise to me ❤ I also recently got to go on a road trip with my dad in his new RV, we went to Joshua tree 🏜️
I also just want to say that I’m sorry Tara that you’re having to go through this. I’m looking down the barrel at a second cancer diagnosis currently and it’s so scary but has made me so grateful for every day and every person in my life ❤
My good mental health story is this…in 2019 I had suffered from MDD-SI for 20yrs. By this time my youngest was 16 & I had a major unalive attempt. I won’t give details but it was touch & go for a while. When I woke up & saw how it affected my family I promised that would be the last ‘failure’ I’d ever have. Fast forward to a few weeks ago, my daughter & I finally spoke about it. I couldn’t remember any details but wanted it to be an organic chat when she was ready. It was so therapeutic for us both & I’ve now been ‘stable’ with meds & therapy for 3yrs. I got a job as a ‘carer’ that I truly enjoy. It makes me grateful for my health & I get to love on all of my clients. My girls & I now buy each other experiences not gifts so we can make good memories. Seeing them as adults is the greatest joy…& EVERY day I think “wow, I could’ve missed this”
Only 7 minutes into the video but I need to say I have a hobby room/office/closet room as I’m a graphic design student with a tiny closet in my bedroom and I have sooo much stuff in the room lol. Filing cabinet, desk, dresser, small sectional with a coffee table and although it’s so squishy in this small room and gets messy very easily I love it and no matter where I move next I now will forever need a hobby/office room! I would love to be able to move my clothes out of here and so I could actually store my filing cabinet and painting supplies in the closet but that’s not in the cards right now lol! Making your hobby room is going to be so fun!
What an important message that it's okay to reach out for help if you need it. 😌I've been someone my whole life (56 years) who kept things inside -- not necessarily "bottled up", but just shoved somewhere else to deal with later, or to have resolve itself, while on the outside I put on a smile and went on, not wanting to lay all my problems on anyone else. Over the past 2-3 years, life just got extra difficult and things piled up, one on top of the other, until something happened last June (2023) that completely "broke the camel's back", so to speak, and I've been trying to deal since then. I was finally forced to accept that I needed help and the floodgates opened when talking to my sister (who's received mental health help for as long as I can remember), and I also reached out to my family doctor at the beginning of October. I knew I was in serious trouble when I realized that if I found out that I had a terminal illness, I would be RELIEVED; I'd no longer have to deal with everything... 😳I am now in therapy, and I have my second appointment in 3 days. To be able to open up completely to someone who is there entirely to listen to what you have to say... won't judge you, won't make you feel like a burden or like you're weighing them down with "your problems", was something I was unprepared for in my first appointment -- and I fell apart... I came out of that appointment exhausted, but feeling lighter, for sure. I have up to 6 sessions covered by my health care at this clinic in my city, and I'm sure I'll need more therapy going forward, (Better Help is also something I'm considering for that), but it's a start. I know now that I will probably need to be able to speak to someone, here and there, for the rest of my life -- and that's okay!!! So, I'm so thankful for your message about this today, and hope that everyone will reach out for help if they need to. ❤
The hobby room is a great idea! I would for sure rather get a hobby room than a huest room. Way more usefull. I Love the desk in the window nook. That would just be such a great place to sit and do a relaxing hobby
The only thing I can say is, I made it through the weekend and the week I’m an older lady probably about as old as your mom and I take one day at a time cause that’s all I can do I would put your desk by the window, so you have all that natural light when you’re drawing and painting all that stuff
Sending all my love to you and your family Tara ❤️ I love your idea for the guest bedroom, that’s fantastic! I would vote, but I’m the same way as you (rearranging) so i know you’ll try it a million different ways until you find the right vibe for you. You got this! 🙌🏻
Tara, wish you could give us some ideas on how you keep yourself safe when you go on walks by yourself. I have tried to walk and in no time I get harrassed or followed by cars or strangers that I have stopped going on walks. Any tips on how you stay safe??
A positive comment: I'm currently 29 weeks (7months) pregnant and my husband FINALLY got to see him move from the outside of the womb. 😆 This will be our third child and he's never been able to see them kick. 🥰
I think the creative room is perfect for you!!! It will definitely get a lot more use. Do you have any room left in your basement floor for the dresser if not the mattress? Can’t wait to see what you come up with. Remember, to tell those you love and care about, “I love you, “ every chance you get. ❤
Something good that happened recently: started planning our upcoming wedding! Booked a venue, ordering save the dates after this video & super excited for my fiancés involvement! I also think you should do a Murphy bed in your guest space! I think it would be a fun video, bonding activity with dad or BF (assuming he’s into that kind of stuff) & maybe you could paint a mural inside the built in for a fun guest & your experience!
My sincerest condolences to you and your family. I agree with the idea of a Murphy bed. For your squash soup, you might find that roasting the squash longer so that it’s quite soft and browned will enhance the flavour. Regardless, your willingness to try new things is awesome 😊
I'm so sorry you are going through some really tough stuff lately. Unfortunately, as you get older, medical stuff and loss of loved ones happen more often as well as your own personal crap. We don't realize how good we had it as kids and how much our parents protected us from, until we get older. I send you a ton of love and hugs and my condolences on your loss.
@@imtaramichelle It really is the circle of life. I have found that the key to taking away the fear of it is acceptance. Trusting that it will happen and that we will be okay. Accepting that we will be sad and yet will still have so many joyful moments. You will be okay because you already have gratitude for the small pleasures in life and appreciate the good moments. Sending you all so much love. ❤
Butternut Squash soup hack - my moms secret ingredient for more flavor is adding a couple of pears and maybe an apple. Makes it a little sweet and gives it a little more overall flavor. ❤❤
My fav thing to elevate a creamy soup like that is some good crusty bread or some croutons. Gives it a little bit of texture that is sooooo good with the smooth soup!
It's my dream to have a hobby room! Surprised it wasn't thought of earlier for that room. So excited to see what you end up doing! I also agree a bookshelf murphy bed might be nice! Definitely desk by the window so you can watch the snow fall and the sunsets while you paint!
Both my husband and I have our own rooms for our hobbies 😂 the bonus of having 3 bedrooms and not having kids or people visiting from out of town. somebody asked where our spare room was and we were like why would we want to clean a room we never use? His is a game room and mine is a get ready room with my clothes, desk for makeup/hair, and a reading chair. Also have an art room in the basement lol it’s the best.
This was a cozy vlog. Changing your guest room, could definitely be a cool project for you, and your dad. Sidenote/ While looking at your nails, I pondered if I should start back,to getting manicures. 💅 It is kind, when you do your donations. I like when UA-camr/influencers give back.
Great vlog!! I have a creative room in my house! Its my absolute favourite place! I’ve decorated it with things i have made and love being in there xxx
I recently decided to turn my guest room into my office/reading/girly/cozy room lol and it’s been the best decision ever. It went from an unused room into the room I can’t keep my family out of lol I’m so excited to see what you do with your room!
After many complications, I never thought I could have kids naturally, in August I found out I was pregnant💗 Bub is strong an healthy, a little miracle
Turning your guest bedroom into your own private space is such a good idea! I can def see the vision for it 😊 As always we will be happy to help you decorate hehe 🙃 For the design, here are my suggestions: 1. table by the window so you can draw / paint. Also get smaller curtains. Those half curtains maybe? 2. Pull out chair as a bed. Also have a nice rug in the center of the room 3. Book case / nook at the side with some side tables. This can be beside the pull out couch 4. A nice painting at the back of couch wirh those cute small wall decor you got from La. it’ll be so cute to have those on the wall. And lastly, store your old bed in your basement somewhere or get a storage unit. For the mattress ill get those mattress you can roll up. Not sure which brand has them bit anything that can stored easily.
my pick me up- my boyfriend who is stationed overseas just found out the day he gets to come home! i haven’t seen him since march 3! on the last stretch :)
Tara have you thought of a Murphy bed that way you can keep the mattress there and it doesn’t take up space elsewhere. Idk what your budget is but if you could do a custom Murphy bed and add storage and or a pull out desk. Just an idea but you alway have the best visions!
You should totally get a Murphy bed. It should fit inside the cut out of that wall against where the headboard is then it will fold up when you don’t have guest and then it will fall down when you do. There’s some really really cool designs too. just check it out.
Desk definitely under the window for natural lighting, keep the dresser under the tv and then you can have a whole wall to put shelves for books and the couch :)
A positive comment: I just closed on a lease I have been working on with my clients for 2 months!! Can’t wait to see the room transformation! ❤ I think a Murphy bed frame be good! Like the comment had said!
Positive comment as you suggested: I've been able to keep my job after the organization restructure and I'm super grateful for that! Also, we've decided to buy a land / house next year and start a garden and have some farm animals 🥰 a lot of gratitude for everything in my life 🙏
Have you thought about putting a daybed on the wall the current headboard is? That way you still have a functioning sleep space always available but it’ll take up the wall width mostly and not stick out into the room space as much as your current bed does? I have that setup in my office, works great!
Hey Tara! So sorry for your loss... Really enjoying the new chapter of decorating the guest room! Tip: do not put your books where the sun light is.. They will be yellow and without colors. 😅
Hi. With butternut squash try medium white onion, large parsnip, large carrot. Just chop everything and put into pan. Litre vegetable stock, salt, pepper and medium curry powder to taste. Just simmer for around hour and then blend. Never fails to hit the spot. My go to soup. Enjoy. Gailx
happyyyyy halloweekend to those who celebrate!!!! if you're going out tonight - what are you dressing up as??! 👀
not going out. but planning a halloween indoor date with crafts, snacks and movies with the hubby!
Super lazy and going as football players with my fiance
Big hugs darlin....big big hugs

@grettagiesbrecht5772 me too! First thing I thought. Keep a real bed I. There, just make it a Murphy bed
The Mr. Kate Greenwich Murphy Wall Bed is a really cute murphy bed option with a built in bookcase!

Something about humidity and altitude that changes recipes for each location.😂
Much love, ma'am.
Seeing them as adults is the greatest joy…& EVERY day I think “wow, I could’ve missed this”
For the upstairs room, you could get a daybed! Those can be so cute now!!!!
I'm so sorry about your loss Tara ❤🙏
Excited to see that room come together! That change makes so much sense for you, I think you’ll love it 🎉
right?!?! I feel like it would be sooooo nice to have a dedicated creative space!
really sorry for your loss. I only knew her from a distance but her light seemed bright
I just wanted to say I love your content! I’ve been an avid watcher for 9 years!! Sending love to you, your family & friends 🤍🤍
Omg I made the butternut squash soup today and it was amazing! Thank you ❤
A positive comment:
I'm currently 29 weeks (7months) pregnant and my husband FINALLY got to see him move from the outside of the womb.
I love this idea, I can’t wait to see what you end up doing. Especially with your creativity.
Something good that happened recently: i ended up being gifted tickets to the last US show for Taylor Swift next week and i am soooo excited!😍🥳
Oh my god, that's so exciting! Have so much fun!
I'm so sorry you are going through some really tough stuff lately. Unfortunately, as you get older, medical stuff and loss of loved ones happen more often as well as your own personal crap. We don't realize how good we had it as kids and how much our parents protected us from, until we get older. I send you a ton of love and hugs and my condolences on your loss.
yeah I'm realizing that now and it's just really terribly scary
@@imtaramichelle It really is the circle of life. I have found that the key to taking away the fear of it is acceptance. Trusting that it will happen and that we will be okay. Accepting that we will be sad and yet will still have so many joyful moments. You will be okay because you already have gratitude for the small pleasures in life and appreciate the good moments. Sending you all so much love. ❤
I 100% love your videos and the way you do them. Keep it up Tara!
Try a murphy bed with bookshelves/shelving on either side! They're so cute and it would be a good way to keep your mattress!
Came to say the exact same thing. 👍🏻
I have a Murphy bed in my guest room/ office and it’s been so amazing!!
A positive comment: I ran my first ever marathon last Sunday!
Was just waiting for a video to get me into the cozy all vibes and ofcourse it's a new Tara vlog! xo
I think the book shelves along the back with that has the bed on it would look SO CUTE!!
Always found adding curry powder to butternut squash soup makes it taste much more elevated!
This was a cozy vlog.
Changing your guest room, could definitely be a cool project for you, and your dad.
Sidenote/ While looking at your nails, I pondered if I should start back,to getting manicures. 💅
It is kind, when you do your donations. I like when UA-camr/influencers give back.
Great vlog!! I have a creative room in my house! Its my absolute favourite place! I’ve decorated it with things i have made and love being in there xxx
For the squash soup, sun dried tomatoes takes it to the next level
I recently decided to turn my guest room into my office/reading/girly/cozy room lol and it’s been the best decision ever. It went from an unused room into the room I can’t keep my family out of lol I’m so excited to see what you do with your room!
My Mom got home last night from the hospital and is on the mend ❤️🩹
that is fantastic news!
After many complications, I never thought I could have kids naturally, in August I found out I was pregnant💗 Bub is strong an healthy, a little miracle
Thanks for sharing Tara, wishing you and your family healing and love 💕 for the soup, I tend to add in 1-2 Roma tomatoes which enhances the flavor.
That show was amazing! The writers did a great job! Wish there were more to watch.
Turning your guest bedroom into your own private space is such a good idea! I can def see the vision for it 😊 As always we will be happy to help you decorate hehe 🙃
For the design, here are my suggestions:
1. table by the window so you can draw / paint. Also get smaller curtains. Those half curtains maybe?
2. Pull out chair as a bed. Also have a nice rug in the center of the room
3. Book case / nook at the side with some side tables. This can be beside the pull out couch
Thoughts on the spare room - you could add a bed in a cabinet situation or day bed that is smaller but opens up when you need it!!
I was just vacationing in Florida for the week and had a great time exploring new places that I haven’t seen before.
Hey Tara, you should try finding a recipe for Thai coconut pumpkin/squash soup. The pumpkin pairs sooo well with Thai flavours.
I get the extra large ice cube trays to freeze leftover soup, then put them in ziplock bags for later!
Desk definitely under the window for natural lighting, keep the dresser under the tv and then you can have a whole wall to put shelves for books and the couch :)
you have a guest room? hahaha I have never seen it, it will be so good to turn it into an art cozy room. Nice idea. 🥰
hahaha I know I literally forget it exists because I'm never up there!!! seems like such a waste!
A positive comment: I just closed on a lease I have been working on with my clients for 2 months!!
Can’t wait to see the room transformation! ❤ I think a Murphy bed frame be good! Like the comment had said!
Positive comment!!!!! Looooove the idea of making that room a craft room!!! Good for you!!!
Positive comment as you suggested: I've been able to keep my job after the organization restructure and I'm super grateful for that! Also, we've decided to buy a land / house next year and start a garden and have some farm animals 🥰 a lot of gratitude for everything in my life 🙏
so many exciting things!!! im so happy for you!
Have you thought about a Murphy bed? They make them with desks when it’s folded up
Have you thought about putting a daybed on the wall the current headboard is? That way you still have a functioning sleep space always available but it’ll take up the wall width mostly and not stick out into the room space as much as your current bed does? I have that setup in my office, works great!
Tara you have to listen to the Fourth Wing dramatized audio book! It’s absolutely amazing!
You should put a craft/ drawing desk in front of window for your daylight. You love that! When you are feeling creative .
Hey Tara! So sorry for your loss... Really enjoying the new chapter of decorating the guest room! Tip: do not put your books where the sun light is.. They will be yellow and without colors. 😅
I knit, crochet, and read. Having a designated cozy hobby room is my dream. This is going to be so fun for you to set up! Such a great idea
right?!?! I think it would be soooo nice, especially in the winter!
Literally just started helping my wife set up her hobby room
I'm excited to see your art studio 💖
Cookie and Kate has the best butternut squash soup recipe! I add a dash of cayenne too sooo good
Hi Tara how are you happy Friday afternoon to you and happy Weekend and happy fall day and I enjoy your channel and you are amazing supporter
Hi. With butternut squash try medium white onion, large parsnip, large carrot. Just chop everything and put into pan. Litre vegetable stock, salt, pepper and medium curry powder to taste. Just simmer for around hour and then blend. Never fails to hit the spot. My go to soup. Enjoy. Gailx
