What would you do if you were INVISIBLE?
I would do exactly what the woman in left. travel
The same she did, had sex with Spike.
Mess with ppl heads after they smoke magic weed
The same she did. Would have sex with Spike.
Chris, wouldn't the invisible person's eyeballs, be just invisible from the people around him/her but he/she eyes would still work and reflect light from their pov?🤔 Like they would still be able to breathe cuz their lungs are still there but just not visible to us. 🤷♂
They allude to the invisible girl in season 1 in this episode when Buffy first enters the Magic Shop and Xander asks if she's been feeling ignored lately. Buffy responds that "This isn't a Marcie thing". 🙂
✨💓🥹
SMG had asked permission to cut her hair irl and they wrote it into this episode. So yes, that is a wig. It's definitely very ..wiggy. lol
Giving the wiggins.
*Kendra voice*: Wiggy...?
Buffy is whistling the song from Once more with feeling
Yeah and it fits, too:
"I can't even see / If this is really me / And I just wanna be / Alive"
Really?! When? Now I have to watch it again. Time stamp please.
Time stamp please
Whoa babez, as many times as I've heard that whistle, I did not pick that up!🧁
@@republicoftexas3261 When Buffy leaves the office of the social woman
"I'm not doing backflips about my life." I borrow that phrase a lot lol
"The Trio are just there for levity"
T-minus 2 episodes.
Don't remind me 😓 seeing warren on screen makes my blood boil.
Oof, that episode is so uncomfortable. But I am anxious to see the normies react to the change in tone.
That's the great thing, though. Real evil isn't usually a cool dude in black leather. It's more often a bunch of dorks who convince themselves they can do whatever they want.
@@michaelearl6765 Sure, but they're not the real Big Bad of this season. Characters' perceptions of them never change.
@@bhelliom3 Can't wait to get bored now.
I love this episode for the cuts to nothing, where someone “invisible” would be, and the invisible fight scene is masterful..so, so funny..
I think Buffy cutting her hair isn't just a "girl who's really going through it" move, although it's that too. It's specifically a reaction to Spike saying he loves her hair and calling her Goldilocks. With "Just make me...different," I think she's saying she wants to be someone who isn't appealing to Spike and isn't drawn to him. She wants to be a responsible adult who would never mess around with Spike and would never neglect Dawn or not be ready for a Social Services visit.
As a side note - I really enjoy Spike leaning so fully into his menacing/seductive bad boy act and then switching immediately once he realizes who the social worker is.
In 5x05, Spike said she had "stupid hair". He should make up his mind...
True, but as a general rule in fiction (and universally in tv series), a character changing their hair means they're changing their personality. And indeed, this episode Buffy was more chipper and adventurous
The "Real Life" reason for the hair cut was because they realized Buffy and Anya's hair was too similar in the first episodes, you can't tell them apart from the back.
@@cherylpeterson6634 I don't buy that, Anya's hair changes so often, it wouldn't matter. What is your source?
@@cherylpeterson6634 That makes so much sense. They both always rocked that side part. (There's about a couple of times that (Emma)Anya was in a wig as well btw, but I think it had more to do with filming, and not Sarah Michelle hair.) You have a great eye.
Never thought about this before but I won't how Buffy found her clothes after she visited Spike 😂
😂😂😂😭
Marketa, I believe this episode takes place one or maybe two days after the last one. Meaning, Buffy has had a lot on her plate, dealing with Willow’s addiction and Dawn’s fractured arm. It’s no surprise that she lost track and forgot Social Services was coming that morning.
Agree. I appreciate the portrayal of a parentless (more or less) sibling with an overload of responsibilities. She's human. Of course she'd fall short every once in a while.😊
@@ameliacraiig4193 Not to mention her being a Slayer.
The reason Xander didn’t figure out Buffy and Spike were hooking up in this episode is the same reason people don’t figure out Clark Kent and Superman are the same person. There’s such a disconnect that people just CAN’T see it
Oo, facts.
Clark being Superman is a lot more obvious than Buffy hooking up w/ Spike. I'd say the former is just a case of comic book logic.
@@jp3813 naw. Clark speaks at a higher level than Superman, he wears bigger clothes, and he hunches his back. He tries to look “mild mannered”
@@mathewdebol923 His face is a lot more obvious than Spuffy.
@@jp3813 that’s because you start off with the knowledge that Clark Kent IS Superman. Imagine someone you work with who is clumsy, meek to almost cowardly, little self confidence and then look an otherworldly being who is charismatic with godlike abilities.
I’m just saying it’s more than glasses that protect his identity
Chris's definition of using his powers for good is robbing a bank. 🤣
"Betcha by Golly Wow" - LOVE that song!
Spike is very Booktok boyfriend. The bad boy qualities are very attractive in a fictional format but in real life not so much.
It was hard to convince girls of that in high school, though...
Trust me. In real life also works. Specially if the guy is attractive
Oh no it works a lot. People just get dick of it when there isn't anything nice beneath it. If you were to be spike but also a nice person beneath the fuckery you would be made. Most however are like that because they are broken beneath it.
@@Meriliremyou got it
I loved the Shining reference when Buffy was pranking the Family Support worker.
“None of the adults around her are acting like adults. Dawn is kind of over it.”
This is SO TRUE and put really well. Dawn also knows she’s a hair’s breath away from being taken to foster care.
Fun fact. Andrew was not supose to be a thing, the Character Tucker (the one that train hellhound to attack the prom during season 3) was supose to be the main "Nerd" and leader of the trio, but the actor was busy, so the replace him with Andrew, and since nobody know who he was, they create the jock "oh is ok, he is Tucker's brother"
Funner fact: The actor Tom Lenk actually played a vampire first before the role as Andrew, Tucker's brother. He was Cyrus, one of Harmony's minions. 😉
@@JoshuaMartian-go3tm Yes babez! I noticed that -but somehow it totally works!!!❤😃👍🏾
(I could see Tucker being too busy, he was kind of hot )
i’m so glad we got andrew instead!
The actor for Tucker was busy taking a princess on a magic carpet ride.
In the Wild Cards books there is a guy who becomes blind when he becomes invincible. He learned to control it and often turns his eyes visible for brief periods to see where he is. People will see a pair of floating eyes while he is looking around.
I really appreciate the reference to the invisible government assassins from season one by Xander, I wish they have come back for an episode, especially during season four
The Normies are still waiting.
Apparently SMG's wig in the teaser and first act is the one she wore in Scooby Doo
the whole blind while invisible depends on the invisibility being a mirror reflecting whats behind you, who tf said thats how this invisibility works?
Andrew is low key another Dawn style gaslight. He set the flying monkeys lose on the school play! ...yeah we didn't see that, quit trying to make me think I've forgotten stuff, show!
But at least he didn’t set hellhounds loose on the prom. That was his lame-o brother Tucker!
The play episode was dumb to be sure.
(There was a some kind school play in like season one or two hm🤔)

I am guessing that they wanted to test the TV Rating system in 2001. And this episode, DEFINATELY did it. LMAO!!! Great episode. Just for the Invisible Buffy part. LOL

Yes. I’ve often thought being invisible implies blindness. One exception is fake invisibility using holographic active camouflage. If every point on your outfit was a tiny screen that emits light in every direction then you can feed it images to make you nearly invisible like Predator.
Your pupils or camera lenses may still be visible because they have to receive and not reflect light but the eyes would still work correctly.
Actor who played Tucker wasn't available... so they mad up Andrew as "Tucker's brother" abd made up a flying monkey story which we never saw on screen.
Buffy is a certified freak 😈
1:47 I remember reading Kokopelli's Flute as a kid.
Doris was just doing her job correctly.
Also, depends on how invisible you are. If you still can be detected via thermal vision, the government's going to find you quicker than you think.
Such a fun episode. Love the Trio and all their faults and failings. Willow! Buffy and Spike! Nice she can get with a vamp and he not go all evil. I mean Spike is already all evil but he choses not to be. Does that make him better than Angel then? Invisibility is a great morals test. What would you do if you were invisible?
I love what Buffy did to Doris. It might be the worst thing she's done to someone
To be fair, Doris was also a horrible social worker who spent all of 2 minutes with Buffy and Dawn.
She came to the house seemingly already strongly leaning toward recommending Buffy be stripped of her guardianship based on Dawn’s grades slipping after the loss of her mother and her father being a deadbeat. Any reasonable social worker would’ve been much more understanding even with the unintended car accident comment.
Fuck Doris.
so funny to go back to 5x4 and watch the reaction to Spikes dream and compare it to when big things happen with Spike and Buffy later like the kiss in Once More With Feeling or the "exercising" in this episode lol
I'm remembering the Clay Aiken song "If I Was Invisible".
I love how they did season 6 can’t say what they did not yet
Did no one really get the Shining reference?
I KNOW, I thought at least the two movie buffs would have, it's a classic line
When/what was it?
hm???

Watching the guys all adjust their crotch on the couch during the crypt scene was gold for me!
The best invisibility I've seen on TV is from the series "The Invisible Man"(2000), starring Vincent Ventresca. Check it out, that invisibility is perfect.
I'll check it out
Random unrelated question but I don't know where else to recommend shows. Have you guys ever watched The Last Kingdom or will you ever react to it? Its an underrated show, even George RR Martin recommended it twice. Some other shows I like are Buffy, Angel, Dexter, Better Call Saul, Narcos, The 100, Lost, Game of Thrones, Wentworth, The Boys, Dragon Ball franchise. I name these shows so that if you think they're good too than you should know that The Last Kingdom should be as well.

Rana, yeah you can travel...but you would be all alone...

Micky genuinely made me laugh so hard I got a headache with his "ghost impression". Thanks for nothing Micky.
aw man, next episode was my first in season episode of the series
i grew my bangs out like 25years ago and while i like the look of them, the maintenance of them is too much for me - so when i consider cutting them to have them again, i stop myself by remembering that. And i used to cut my own bangs, i wasn't great at it, but passable - but that was because i had my mom do it once when i was young and she scotch taped them to my head and still did an awful job, like it was all crooked and SUPER short - twas the worst i've ever seen....
Buffy should stop pursuing Spike not because he deserves better but because he’s an evil vampire. Harmless at this point, but still evil.
Never thought about it before, but Willow and Buffy had the gun in the end, right? Wasn't there a huge, pure diamond in there or something? Couldn't they sell either the functioning gun or the diamond and literally never have any money problems again?
It was stolen, so they would have to return it or try to find a fence to sell it to.
@@roujin518 Ah, that's right. And no finder's fee I guess :D
I haven't watched most of this channel is Buffy reactions. But it's no surprise that I'm crossing with you guys now, cuz season 6 is my favorite. Which is very funny because it seems to be a lot of people's least favorite. I only recently found out that this was the first season in a new network, and that allows the show to pivot in a way that made it more human-centered. Answer me that made it easier to attach to all the characters I had watched for years.
it may be a wig, i think SMG was filming the Scooby Doo movie around this time.
Scooby Doo was over before shooting for S6 started, SMG simply wanted a new hairstyle and they added it in to the episode. The wig was needed for the cut later since you can only cut real hair once so if you mess up you are in a world of hurt.
#SUNDAYRUNDOWN What must have been going through spikes head when Buffy first showed up invisible, my man was probably thinking he was about to get molested by a ghost. The spike and Buffy moments got pretty spicy here, it’s wild coming back to this show after so long.
Um...hate to break it to you, but they generally choose insightful or interesting comments for Sunday rundown, and they get so many of those. Plus, I THINK they only look at the ones on the Patreon site
Delicious in Dungeon PLZ !
The Trio aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I do appreciate the levity they bring to the season. And things get pretty dark with them moving forward. Their villainy felt much closer to home as it’s a mentality that unfortunately a lot of people share.
I liked how they used their favorite Bond actors to shed light on their characterizations back in 6x05 Life Serial. Warren is the Connery fan, Jonathan is the Moore fan, and Andrew is the Dalton fan. If you know anything about Sean Connery then it’s very telling that Warren prefers the “man’s man” who regularly abuses women and is the symbol of toxic masculinity. Jonathan loves Moore and that Bond was a goofier and more whimsical Bond. He is the spy fantasy, and that fits Jonathan to a tee as his fantasy world in Superstar was basically Roger Moore’s Bond. Andrew’s love of Dalton is more representative of who Andrew wants to be. He loves the suave and gentlemanly persona of Dalton’s Bond, which is who Andrew would like to be. I also find it interesting that Dalton is the least popular Bond with only two movies, and Andrew is the member of the trio that no one knows as he is only here because he’s Tucker’s brother (villain in the Prom episode).
🏆
i think i'll let buffy off for hurting the feelings of an evil demon who's killed hundreds of humans. she can use him all she likes with no guilty conscience as far as i'm concerned. him being a great, fun comedic characters doesn't change the weighing up of the morals there.
Here we see Buffy acting as a kind of 'sponsor' for Willow trying to cleanse the house of anything that might tempt Willow to have a relapse. We can see how frosty the Dawn/Willow relationship has now become. Interesting with Spike and Buffy in the kitchen, her addiction to him is also now critical too, as she can't seem to resist his advances. Some comedy with the Probation Inspector with the bag of weed (btw there is a hilarious outtake from this scene on youtube with Buffy, Spike and The Social Services woman, where SMG comes out with hilarious x-rated comment about what Spike is doing to her after dinner, it's well worth a look), but again it is serious as it could lead to Buffy losing Dawn, coupled with what the Inspector sees as really strange characters living there such as Willow and Spike. The Trio now are irritating beyond endurance, and continue to make Buffy's life even more difficult. Buffy actually seems to be enjoying being invisible at this stage as she can now exploit her urges and desires for Spike without getting caught. When Xander comes into the crypt we have the funny, but ridiculous scenario of Spike pretending he is exercising. We have to ask ourselves the uncomfortable question here, is Buffy exploiting Spike? Crazy I know, but this is what is actually happening here. He is being used for her own sexual gratification, with no consequences for her, interesting juxtaposition in role reversal between the two, we even see the soulless Spike being almost hurt by her attitude towards him. Comedy relief at then end with the word 'nemesis' nemesises' etc. Great conversation with Buffy and Willow at the end. A lot to unpack in this episode, hence the lengthy comment. I loved S6, but can see why many did not.
Me too. I think it's probably my favourite season.
SMG was set to host SNL so they made her invisible. All she had to do is record her voice for a lot of scenes.
I thought that was for the rat episode in season 2
It was for the first Scooby Doo movie I think.
The bewitchted bothered bewildered episode from season 2 Buffy becomes a rat because SMG was hosting he SNL one.
I checked and this season and the last had switched from the WB/CW to UPN and that along with everyone being older led to the overt sexual nature of this season
Buff and Spike are bad just like Huffy and Angel just in diff ways
Please watch trailer park boys!!! You won’t regret it
Willow still being in that house is wrong and Buffy still allowing it is wrong. Dawn has just as much a right to be upset with Buffy for that as she does a right to be upset with Willow for the previous episode. And Buffy doesn't seem to understand Dawn's issues. It isn't that she allowed it to happen (although that is part of it). It's that allowing Willow to stay is Buffy still allowing the potential for it to happen. As her sister's guardian, Dawn should be Buffy's priority and she isn't. Willow should move out of Revello Drive considering her actions and considering Buffy's legal responsibility with Dawn to Social Services. If they find out Willow is in the house after "being high" (they won't even have to know about magic) Buffy will lose her rights as guardian and could lose any rights to even see her. Also, If Buffy was frustrated at Spike for being there when Social Services shows up, why didn't she just give him his lighter when he asked for it aka before Doris Kroeger showed up? It's a rhetorical question, because despite the end of the last episode (and despite Doris being on her way), she didn't want him to go. In my opinion, Buffy shows she shouldn't be legally responsible for Dawn. Doris Kroeger was right in her assessment of Buffy. Buffy changing that when she's invisible by making Doris look crazy enough to need a vacation with Buffy getting herself a second appointment doesn't change the fact that she shouldn't be Dawn's legal guardian.
Every offense to Willow and her offense at feeling like she's being blamed, but she hasn't earned trust back yet.
So, Buffy while invisible, and with Spike not aware of what's happening, throws herself at him sexually. That's sexual assault as long as he doesn't know what's happenning. And she doesn't tell him (until she says "Stop trying to see me"), he has to figure out what's going on. So until he figures out it's Buffy, she is sexually assulting him. I've seen people try to argue unlimited consent, but considering people can change their minds (Buffy is proof of that during this season) unlimited conscent is an exuse to sexually molest and rape. Then after Xander leaves, Spike tells Buffy to get her clothes and go home. She instead gives him a blow job. The next scene we see Buffy in, she is upset Spike kicked her out. How is it that Spike kicked her out considering he would either have to stop her to kick her out, or force her off him? That is also rhetorical.. The reason the scene cut away after Spike said, "That's cheating," and had Buffy saying Spike kicked her out is because Buffy was doing something horriblly wrong.
I looked up California's law back when people tried to argue against Angel sleeping with an underage Buffy in S2 (also a crime Angel commits). Not only is Buffy in the wrong in going against Spike's wishes about not getting her clothes and leaving when he asked her to (and instead giving a blow job he cannot even acknowledge until it's happenning), but not letting him know in advance what was going on when she arrived and started touching him is morally and legally wrong. Spike being soulless and the law not taking mythology into consideration doesn't change these wrongs to rights in any kind of way. She did two absolutely, horrible wrongs no matter what. And neither of them were the sex itself Xander didn't know he witnessed.
And on top of all of this, Marketa is right about Buffy using Spike (confirmed with Buffy's last lyrics in the musical episode: "This isn't real, but I just want to feel"). And with him being soulless there is an incredibly high chance that won't end well.
I love Chris saying none of the adults around Dawn are being adults. It's literally the theme of the season. The failure of growing up. If your looking for someone to be doing something right: Tara after she leaves Willow (because even she helped resurrected Buffy and is therefore indirectly responsible for Buffy's state of depression (and the resulting issues she has with Spike). And Dawn comes in second with her kleptomania. Everyone else is so much further down on the right scale that it's rare to see any right-doings.
Buffy acting so out of character after being invis is kinda weird.
This season is.... weird. Have some phenomenal episodes, and some meeeh episodes, but I promise you guys that everything will pay out.
Honestly, the same goes for the Trio. I won't spoil anything, but it won't be long before their presence in the show clicks into place.
I really wish people didn't feel the need to make comments like this. So often I get my shows ruined by people who don't understand what it means to watch a show blind.
Season 6 being the darkest in the entire show, makes you appreciate episodes like this a bit more. It's so silly compared to... you know, stuff that just happened. And the screnes between Buffy and Spike are hot, true, but they're *both* using each other (for different reasons), and that relationship is SO toxic. One of the reasons why I prefer Buffy to be alone (single) in the show. xD
He's not wrong about the blind thing though. Invisible eyes wouldn't refract light, so you'd be blind as fuck.
What if you were just invisible to other people but were not really invisible?
Depends the type of invisibility.
@@9TrixieTurner6 True, if were talking some sort of magic based invisibility, the laws of physics can be completely tossed here.
But in this episode, they used tech to build a ray gun and make her invisible. That means that for whatever reason, light is passing straight through her instead of bouncing off, so she'd be blind.
@@tonyj9743 Or it's bending around her body in a way that still allows for vision.

I think yall forget Spike is evil. Lol
This is the episode where Buffy gRAPEs Spike, and everyone laughs.
No. Not if it's consensual. Please don't misdefine such a serious term. One could argue that stealthily sneaking up on your lover for sex, is questionable (to some), but Spike was capable of saying no & chucking her out at any time, as he did later on.
@@ameliacraiig4193 he says no, she is stronger than him and forces herself on him. Total gRAPE. She threw him, ripped his clothes. Had her way with him.
@@RetroRobotRadio Nah, he Gave In. It may be toxic AF but its still consensual. People need to be allowed to "give it up", and face the consequences of their choices (provided they are Consenting Adults with no mental or chemical impairments.) Otherwise people lose their Agency, and the decision as to whether or not one consented, or can consent, ends up being decided by others. The more common version of people not having agency in regard to consent is SA victims being told, "Clearly you wanted it." Also Teens when they are Rightfully told, "No you're too young, that was Statutory, your Teacher is going to jail."
But Imagine. You find out your crush is into you as well, they confront you in public with a surprise embrace, pull you into a quiet corner and despite initial reservations due to the sudden shock, you say "you know what, eff it, we're both consenting adults" and make love to them for the first time. The next morning you wake up full of joy and hope, excited for what your new relationship will bring into your life.....and then you see your crush in handcuffs on the news, because your tryst was caught on a security camera and interpreted as rape because you resisted at first.....
You might say, "I never even called the cops!" But neither did Spike.
Having said all that, i think they were going for the "Turning invisible makes you immoral and/or crazy" trope. Similar to what they did with Marcie, the first invisible girl. Because WOW did Buffy lose her shit on that poor lady from social services, like if that were my mom being told to kill people and effed with by the HERO of all people, i would go all SRA (Slayer Registration Act) on the Scoobies, like "you MF's have too much power!"
