Cherokee Park Tacoma

  • Friday the 30th a team from Colorado 4x4 Rescue and Recovery went up Forest Road 182 to winch a Toyota Tacoma that slid into a tree earlier in the week.
The snow had receded a lot making access to the vehicle much easier. This was a simple sideways pull to get the vehicle back in the center of the trail, and was able to back out and turn around under its own power.
Responders came from as far away as South Denver, driving almost 3 hours each way for this one. But still an absolutely beautiful day to be in the hills at altitude!
Also PSA: some times we have to block a trail momentarily to get a vehicle recovered, and get us turned around. Please do not drive around vehicles you see blocking a trail, there is usually a good reason for it. Walk up and check out the situation, or just be patient and come back in a bit. Had the side by side come by 30 minutes earlier, there would have been no way to get around our rigging and they would just be adding to the blockade on the trail impeding our ability to egress.

Would love to see a "how this happened" part to the video and see damages to the vehicles. Patience is a virtue!
