Has anyone tested how long 205 g0 will stay on different switches? I want to try lubing some of my switches, but i'm concerned about the longevity of the lubricant's effects.
i thought 205 g0s are gonna stay for decades? i dont think they even dry out, they will go down with the gravity though, if it makes any sense, so u kinda need to reapply the lube.
@@alexotos Sorry Alex! I should have specified! I meant the CRG9 monitor in the background! Your camera quality is fantastic!! By default the text is over sharpened, me and a group on Reddit with the same issue done some digging and setting the sharpness to 56 makes it look soooo much better!!
Been trying to find some information about the duration for the switches remain lubed, but could not find any so far. Could anyone advise whether you'd have to lube them just once in a lifetime or this is an ongoing process? If so, how often do you have to lube them?
just started with this hobby as well but i guess it is up to you if you want to relube it after a few months.. if you notice that it is not as smooth as the first time that you lubed the switches, then yeah you can relube it. But I am not sure if the lube will evaporate or what in the long run so I am also interest what happens after a few of using the keyboard.
The lubes are really good so they don't really evaporate. They might get slowly pushed away from the parts of friction, but that should take a really long time. Nothing to worry about if you use the keyboard 12 hours a day for a few years (in my experience).
Re-lubing is dangerous, especially with thick lube, because there is a chance of not lubing evenly and overlubing, of which both are problems that affect switch feel.
Idk if you got any info but inks are smoother without lube, creams have a texture to them that needs to be lubed to tone it down. Doesn't come into play in normal typing but on slower presses you can feel it for sure. Lighting is also something to take into account. Creams aren't transparent so lighting will only show through the topside of the switch.
Currently lubing 63g turquoise tealios and the difference is not that big. Haven't put them on a board yet but trying single switches with keycaps and comparing them reveals only a small difference. I can see the difference being bigger on cherry but even then feel like it's not necessarily worth de soldering since this will add even more time investment to an already time consuming process. So I see lubing as kind of overhyped, sure if you want the ultimate experience and invest much time and money anyways do it but I don't see why some people almost treat it as necessary.
@@y3k3y-highlights3 1. you are replying to an old comment 2. this is not about Zealio 3. they are not, unless you are considering the tiny amount of lube on the legs "pre-lubed", which nobody else does
@@y3k3y-highlights3 Alex even talks about Tealio in the video… Anyways I won't waste my time educating you, since you obviously don't know what you are talking about.
Have you seen the new Tacit tactile switches by keebwerk? I’ve heard people say they’re smaller than holy pandas and their tactility more pronounced than Zilents. The only thing holding me back from ordering them is the fact that no one has reviewed them or made a sound test video.
I can appreciate better sound and feel, but a the same time, the lube eventually wears off, and requires what sounds like quite a bit of time to apply (and reapply). So, how much time does it take to apply, how often do you have to reapply, and does the extra effort feel worth it?
@@alexotos Interesting! I'm used to things that require lubricant needing regular reapplication, so I didn't expect this. If that's the case, it might not be so bad.
Why doesn't auramech sell lubricated stabilizers as well? If you have to lube stabilizers on your own anyway, the appeal of pre-lubed switches is gone for most people.
Awesome quick and digestible love it!

Excellent video as always!! If that's a CRG9 set your sharpness to 56, fixes that horrid jagged text on factory settings.
