@@JoHouse533 It's pouring GAS on the fire as largely thru his videos I'm looking at either a QY70 or QY100. Curiously, the 100s I'm finding are considerably less pricey than the 70s. Wonder why that is, as the 100 is the somewhat more capable box.
What an awesome track and fantastic tutorial for us new QY owners! Thanks for going into many of the more advanced features like the automation for the rain track 👍 You can't make too many QY videos! more please, more please!! 🙂
Hi Floyd I love your channel I was hoping you could help me decipher the QY 100 manual I’m trying to send midi signal out of my Yamaha qy100 to control my other gear I’m pretty sure I have to be in song mode but I wasn’t able to figure it out quickly so I was hoping you could help me. Thanks in advance
This music is excellent, and your video production values are world class. Thanks for the QY content. I look forward to learning more from you. I’m a QY100 player/hobbyist, as well.
QY series were great fun. Had a 10 and 20 in the 90's, the non plus ultra was the QY300 though never had one. With some external fx they sound pretty good still today.
Hi, thanks for watching! Yes, I agree. Especially the lead sounds (which are mostly the synth basics - sine, saw, square, pulse) can fruitfully be "misused" for modern sounding synth stuff.
This is SuperSweet, Maestro! ~~~ Could someone please rip the audio from the EVERY UA-cam video playing PIE ads and just stop it in its tracks, please?
Hello Floyd - I know you have (or used to have) an QY100 as well as the QY70. My QY70 is now only used as a Midi sound module due to a faulty Menu button - so I bought a QY100 as a replacement. I have the QY70 Data Filer which works under Wine on Linux (I am amazed!) but I do not have the QY100 Data Filer - do you perhaps have a copy or know where I can download it? The SmartMedia card feature on the QY100 is hopeless - there seem to be few SmartMedia cards available that are not permanently corrupted or damaged and I don't want to try again to buy one on eBay only to find out again that it does not work! Thanks and also thanks for your great videos on the QY devices.
Hi, thanks for watching! You'll find the data filer on Yamaha's page still. ;-) usa.yamaha.com/support/faq/music_production/1596.html Search for "click here". It's a bit hard to see.
@@mr_floydst I think that is only for the QY70 version - it does not seem to work correctly with a QY100. I have tried searching for the QY100 version but cannot find it.
@@mr_floydst Thanks that is great (and a firmware update as well! - I will check my version to see if this is useful). I will head over to @jayb channel (I was already subscribed) and leave him a thanks in a comment
Thank you! BTW I'm ok with viewers posting their own videos here, UA-cam is a collaborative space. So here we go ua-cam.com/video/3eK3PgE-IhY/v-deo.html Nice track! I wish it was longer. Just repeat the 8 bar loop and improvise on the keyboard.
ich hatte den Q70 auch mal, habe ihn dann verkauft. wenn ich mir dein video so anschaue, bereue ich das. sehr, sehr schön gemacht! ps: wie hast du das nanno key angeschlossen? weil es hat ja nur usb...
It's a sequencer and a General Midi / Extended General Midi module with around 500 patches and 20 drum kits. The nice thing is they took the extra care to 100% the GM standard, so all those CC do exactly what they were supposed to do. So e.g. changing the "brightness" via controller actually changes the filter, vibrato changes the LFO, and so on. So with a bit of planning, you can get some "modern" sounds out of this.
GAS therapy at its best. Thank you for sharing your creativity in many levels.
Thanks for listening!
It's only GAS therapy if you own a QY70 already...

@@Merkle1972 It works in pattern mode, too. The way there is "menu > utility > menu > midi" there, turn midi in/out on.

All of that in this little box from 1997? Amazing.
Apart from EQing and Reverb, that is. ;)

is the QY sequencing everything else? or is it solely sounds from the QY? I have no knowledge about, thought it was just a sequencer....

the piano is coming from the QY70? what reverb are you using?
Yes, it's the standard QY70 piano, but I turned down the low pass filter quite a bit. Reverb was Strymon Volante+Nightsky if I recall correctly.
