    Thanks so much for your instructions. I tried the Free Rig today but struggled with the retrieve. Now that I know its a slack line presentation, and I have to watch the line for bites it makes A LOT more sense now. Definitely going to work on this next weekend and over my vacation! I have 1/8th tungsten drop shot weights, but ordering some 3/16 and 1/4's. Also had to track down some JDM 3.5 inch Kut Tails, but got those on order too. Going to grab some Shad's as well. While I struggled with it today, I loved how the rig felt on my BFS setup =)

    I have been using a Free Rig for the past two years and I found it works better on a spinning reel. When casting I leave the bail open until I think it reaches the bottom the slack line allows more separation between the weight and the hook.

      Good luck! My style could be too slow for the high season but it's winter. Slow and finesse approach could be better.

    So more free than a Texas rig apparently. Back in the day when we Texas rigged with a glass bead called " Doodling " Don Iovino invented it. But that was in the 80's. 😮❤

      ドシャローな野池みたいなところだったので、実はライトテキサスでも同じ結果が出た気がしますが、ティアドロップシンカー使っていると、キャスト姿勢が良いのが良いですね。

    Waki-san! Can I recommend you Kuying Teton rods they're really afforable bfs rods rated from L to UUL. They're really popular with light salt game anglers in southeast Asia!

    Wow you’re right, the kut tail isn’t that popular here. I must get some of the 3.5 in version, where do you purchase if I live in the US? Tackle warehouse only has the 4” of course, not the 3.5”

    nice video! do you prefer the texas rig or the free rig for fishing saltwater rock jetties? What about for surf fishing? And why, thanks in advance!

      Both but I like Texas. Texas rig is a basic of the basic and I have not yet far form the master of Texas rig. For surf, C-rig wound be more reasonable than Texas IMO.

      Specwise, both look okay for an entry rods. The fact is we don't have any rods exclusively designed for BFS in the U.S., unfortunately (this is just IMO).

      This weight can move smoothly since it has less friction than bullet weights. And the weight shape gives us a bit longer casting distance. On the other hands, I love using Texas to fish rocks and weeds.

      No, I don't. But using a swivel for attaching the weight sounds a good idea and we have special swivels for this rig in Japan.
