Hey mate, do you happen to know why my headunit doesn't always stare when I turn on the ignition? It is completely random, sometimes it starts from the first ignition, other times I have to turn on and off the ignition for an x ammount of times until it starts (2-3 times usually). I would really appreciate if you would have an idea/suggestion. The car is a Golf Mk5 2008.
@@AlexHusTech could it be from the canbus decoder box of the headunit? I will check the wiring. Everything else is completely fine, it shows everything from my car (open door, trunk, rpm, voltage, seatbelt, etc). It's just this annoying thing that it doesn't always start on the "first" ignition..

hello mine does what yours does where the screen freezes and you can only see it faintly and you can still move the screen around but it goes off after a minute or so and when the ignition is switched back on it does the long boot instead of the fast boot so has it worked for me?

Unfortunately not that I know of, there's other apps like "Car info" that connects to OBD port that gives odometer reading in mile, however I use it more for tracking temps etc.
Hello! I have the same unit on my be golf 5 ! I have noticed that it is not working everytime I start the engine! When it works everything is perfect ( rear camera, Litres etc) ! But 1/3 times it doesn’t turn on! Any ideas?
@@AlexHusTech I don’t know my friend! The unit installed by a professional ( in the beginning canbus didn’t recognise the camera so I update the canbus unit) but now I have this annoying problem ! It is weird that if I enter the car and it doesn’t work , I get out locking the car waiting for about 2 minutes , I enter again and everything is fine)

I found that in the CAN Gateway installation list, the selection "56-Radio" was not activated! I activated it and.. problem solved!! Check it out, I hope it will help you!!

Have you turned on the "USB debugging" in the developer options? You can enable that option if you go to your "About phone" and press "Build number" multiple times. The pathway is not exact as depends on your device.

Hi Alex, I have an issue that is really strange. I have got the same head unit and installed in my partners Golf MK6. When I click the settings cog like you did all I have is a blown up image with only the”Car settings” option. I don’t have “Sound settings, System info, Factory settings, android settings etc??? Do you think this a fault with the headunit?
Right could be an issue OR the software version is different to mine, and have to access the "Main Settings" a different way, which could be via a preinstalled app OR pull down the notification tab and normally there's a "Setting" option OR may be another way.
Alex, my problem is the Home Menu shortcuts don't work. On the home page, only the settings button works. You had me scroll down by dragging my finger from the top down. That's great, now I can access the settings and other buttons. Do you know if the home page short cuts like Radio, Bluetooth and Settings need to be setup and if so do you know where? Thank you or anyone else that might know.
I think there may be a setting on the factory settings options somewhere to map the buttons, can't remember top of my head. I've got a new unit in yesterday, I'll be doing a MCU software update soon once the seller sends it over, I'm hoping the UI will be better.

Sorry I'm not to sure with other cars, only know VW, sometimes universal aftermarket ones are not compatible so won't show details. Sorry I couldn't help you.

Hi Alex, I've just adquire that radio for my 2005 VW golf V, don't have interface (buttons) on the wheel, but installed CANBUS anyway, but the problem, with or without the CANBUS, persists, and that is, I turn off the ignition, remove the key of it, and the radio stills on. The app is built into the system and the Canbus that comes with the radio talks with the car ECU/Canbus to get the data, mine was all plug and play and worked without having to configure anything.

Is the noise Static on the Radio? That was my problem. I had to by an Antenna extension. Only needed about 6 inches of wire. I've also read/watched other videos. Many have the same issue. Not sure what they did.

One thing I'm not clear on for a lot of these Chinese Android head units is, do *ALL* cars need a CANBUS decoder box to make onscreen info work (like climate settings, door open/close) or does the head unit do the decoding itself? I have looked high and low for a CANBUS decoder for a 2016 Kia Soul with no luck, so I'm beginning to think that one is not required. Is that possible?

Hi, the key light can't be changed on the cheaper units as they don't have RGB leds, and logo is only displayed when it's long booted, most are set to short boot as default to load quicker.
@@andrewlusty5584 I can't really recommend one as this is the only android one I have had, it's pretty good for my needs, would get something more powerful next time.
Somelucky people don't get battery drain, some people get away with disconnecting the red wire (it's in one of my installation videos ua-cam.com/video/9akMZDos0qg/v-deo.html at 7.30 mark), some people have to do a wire tap or upgrade the canbus.

Seems like it has worked, long boot is better as it won't drain your battery, I think quick boot still drains a small amount of battery.

Sometimes seller put on different software versions, it may be worth getting in contact with the seller to see if they can give an update file.

It's to stop battery drain, 2 wires that you can connect that would give constant 12v but would require a switch to turn on/off.

Does it show your car details in the "Car settings" app? If not it might not be wired in properly.

Just got a similar radio device for my golf mk6, sadly I have went through all the cam settings and still can't get the radio to turn off with engine 😤
Some require a wiretap, have you disconnected the red/yellow wire, that works for some people as well.

Hi, the key light can't be changed on the cheaper units as they don't have RGB leds, and logo is only displayed when it's long booted, most are set to short boot as default to load quicker.

Somelucky people don't get battery drain, some people get away with disconnecting the red wire (it's in one of my installation videos ua-cam.com/video/9akMZDos0qg/v-deo.html at 7.30 mark), some people have to do a wire tap or upgrade the canbus.

There's another audio setting that you can lower, it's in the options somewhere.

Just checked, mine is under "Sounds" options, on the left, have to scroll down the tabs to find it.
There's options for media, call & radio.
