Cntl and Shift + Space to highlight columns and rows and Cntl + / - to insert and delete a column or row were probably the top shortcuts I learned here. I also like Cntl + 1 to bring up the formatting dialog. Thanks Heinrich
These are all shortcuts I learned when I started working, took me some time to learn them all and more but I wish I knew them in HS and college. Thanks for the solid content!
4:10 highlight table: ctrl +A 4:40 moving with tables: ctrl +Arrows 5:30 select all arrows: Shift + Ctrl + arrow 6:10 open formatting pane: Ctrl +1 7:00 highlight row: shift + space highlight column: ctrl + space 7:40 to show the work while using cursor, can use the highlighting trick. 8:00 insert above a new row or column: ctrl + + (also with cursor) 8:40 delete a row or column: ctrl + - 11:00 !!! perform a formula for a long column: ctrl + V. 11:45 highlight the formula in a cell: press F2 12:35 put into values than formula: select and copy all, and paste value 13:10 pasting value: or ctrl + V + V. 14:15 fixed and relative references 15:30 evaluate the formula: F9. Back again: ctrl +Z
Heinrich, I always love your videos. Your insights into consulting are really illuminating, but these “technical top tips” are both illuminating and helpful!
Hi Vladimir, thanks for the comment. Yes good one, was already thinking about doing a future Excel video on Pivot tables. Indeed they are super helpful! Stay tuned :) Heinrich
Awesome video! Excel shortcuts are my thing, so I can also recommend alternative way to populate content with formula downwards or to the right. Ctrl + D will populate the range with the content of first cell at the top. Ctrl + R will populate the range with first cell on the left.
Another quick way to copy values is actually just to paste them (Ctrl+V) then directly after hit Ctrl so that the little context menu for pasting options opens, then move two times down and hit enter. Literally takes less than a second :) Works the same with other special paste modes (formatting only, transpose etc.)
Thanks for a very resourceful video! For the avg. price, there must be even faster way (not sure if it works on Windows tho, I am a Mac user), by calculating the first row, then just double click the small square in the bottom right corner of the cell with the avr price you got and it will automatically count all the cells below by same formula till end of existing table.
Hallo Heinrich, thanks once again for the informative content! Given that I'll be starting my first Consulting internship in August, your videos are the perfect preparation for an optimal first impression there. Are you thinking about making a full Excel online course? I'd be interested in that. LG, Darius
Hi Darius, that sounds great, hope you will have a great experience at the internship! Yes indeed thinking about it but will probably still take some time until it is completed (a bit swamped with my "regular" work at the moment..). Thanks for being a regular viewer and supporting the channel :) All the best, Heinrich
Hi Apurva, it is sometimes used (personally saw Tableau more often than PowerBI), though as most clients do not use it, Excel is still the lowest common denominator which is therefore still most frequently used! Best, Heinrich
Hey Heinrich, I really liked your power-point course and it was tremendously helpful :) I have watched all your videos about excel and I am wonderig if you have any plans to launch an excel course?
hello, can you do a formulas video? And other than vlookup or hlookup or indexmatch or various IFs (showing nested IFs would be cool! Use it all the time in my projects altho pivot tables more most part can do similar things). Very curious to what other more niche formulas you'd be sharing
Hi Manuel, thanks for watching! You mean the formula towards the end of the video when I demonstrated F9? No shortcut for that, just cut out a few seconds from the video to not bore you with me typing ;) Best! Heinrich
Hi Heinrich, have you ever thought about creating a course on Excel similar to what you have for PPT ? I would really appreciate it! Thank for the video btw :)
Hey Heinrich, sehr interessantes Video!
Hi, das hängt davon ab was genau du machst.
LG, Heinrich

Hi Babo, yes this indeed sounds like a great option as well :) Thanks for sharing! Best, Heinrich
Indeed, although I find faster to press Ctrl to open the context menu, and then pressing V (shortcut for Value). Saves you a couple of clicks
Thanks for a very resourceful video!

Hi Kateryna, sure this works, though in general you want to avoid using the mouse :) Thanks for watching! Best, Heinrich
Very helpful, thanks a lot ~ wish to see more videos like this such as pivot tables~
Hi Ning, yes Pivot tables are definitely also a great topic. Stay tuned for future videos! :) Best, Heinrich
Love the video! Very helpful. Hope there will be a PPT shortcuts sharing next time :)
Good idea as well, thanks Ching-Chun. Stay tuned! Best, Heinrich
Do you also have a "cheat sheet" with an overview of the shortcuts? Or is the proper way to just get a tattoo with them?
After some time you just know them by heart. To get there, my cheat sheet is Google ;) Best, Heinrich

Great video Heinrich 🙌🏻... What's the scope of Tableau and Power BI in consultancy compared to excel?
Hi Apurva, it is sometimes used (personally saw Tableau more often than PowerBI), though as most clients do not use it, Excel is still the lowest common denominator which is therefore still most frequently used! Best, Heinrich
If you want to build dashboards with large sets of data, visualization tools like these comes in handy

Thanks Heinrich, again very helpful! What was the shortcut for entering the formula so fast?
