0:19 In my opinion, I actually think this *is* scarier than Something being behind you. Correct me if I’m wrong, but it seems like whenever Something is standing behind Sunny/Omori, it’s in the corner, watching - nonetheless very unsettling, but Mari is *right* behind you, so close that she almost looks like a shadow at first… almost close enough to touch you. Not to mention that what you see in the mirror is the “real” Mari - not Hellmari, not the Mari from the dream world, not a hallucination of her twisted by various memories - it’s just her, completely silent, with her face obscured, as she was found that day.
I think it's uniquely scary and awful to see the real Mari that way because my first reaction was "Why is she so tall?" before realizing "Oh. She's not up that high because she's tall..." : (

Maybe you’re right and Mari isn’t meaning to seem malicious - actually watching over Sunny, as you said - and he’s just afraid of his trauma around her. I've forgotten which room it is, but one of Black Space 2's areas has a Hide and Seek Mirror in it. Play Hide and Seek enough times and it leads to a very disturbingly scary situation.
For #1, that same Mari is also watching over Sunny during the first bed transition scene into White Space if you squint. You can see her outline from the moonlight, it's really interesting. Given the context of what happens just before that Mari appears in the mirror, I'm willing to bet that is actually her ghost, twisted by Sunny's perspective of her.

i was so confused when i saw people say it was comforting. because when i first saw it it scared the shit out of me. i was so afraid to exit out of the mirror for a while because i didnt want her to still be there.
Mari is Home was the only part of the game where I truly felt deep, disturbing dread. My heart was racing even though pretty much nothing happened. And I'm so glad I opened the door.
i can't remember exactly where it is, but there is an npc in blackspace (2 maybe?) that you can interact with, and eventually he'll start chasing you extremely fast and saying "omori, tag me in!" over and over. it's not a scary looking npc but the fact that you're in black space and everything is unpredictable scared me so so much, i immediately got out of there before he could touch me lol edit: it's the cloud walkway in bs2, it guards the toilet near the bottom, which is the entrance to kel's money room
I remember staying in the mari is home section for two hours trying to navigate the house cus i thought there was an achievement there and ended up getting sick… props to me for not giving up tho

the whole thing about black space 2 is so crazy to me?!! i did the hikikomori route yet i dont remember seeing those parts of the it!! I still missed out on parts of this world :o this game will never fail to amaze me in the amount of extra details there are that make it an incredible game to replay or at least watch videos on because i still dont think im over all that went down
4:55 OKAY SO this part reminds me of my lucid nightmares, similar to blackspace. But this is like the most similar part, because whenever i take naps i have lucid nightmares. and its always where im in my house. and i wake up again and again and explore, then wake up again. but i dont actually wake up, my brain tricks me into thinking im awake. that is what makes in a nightmare. and everytime i “wake up” something is different. heres an example. (sometimes the differences are very small) sometimes i wake up and theres no doors, and i wake up ajd the whole house is just destroyed and a few rooms are gone, like the laundry room. (this actually happened in my dream before). i woke up again, and my house was a mix between my neighbors house, my house and my grandparents house. and everyone was at the TV area watching TV?? so yeah TELL ME WHAT THIS MEANSSS ALSO JUST A LITTLE FUN FACT.
0:19 This one didn’t really scare me more as it just made me really really sad because out of all of the “something” in the mirror variations this one is the one that’s closest to Mari, (and ironically enough she’s so close behind him in this she could wrap him up in a big hug even tho she doesn’t whilst all the scary versions of something are at a distance, always hiding in the corner) the only unsettling part about it being that she is inhumanely taller then she would actually be, probably to keep in scale with sunny (so that she’s still the same amount taller then him that she used to be when she was alive despite the fact that he’s gotten taller and she never grew because she died) I like to think in a way this was Mari letting us know she had our back no matter what, and that she’d be there to help us get through the next part (confronting the truth, saving Basil and defeating omori as a construct and learning to live again) so it’s hard for me to be scared by this one, if anything in a very uncomfortable way, I was comforted by it just being Mari bc it felt like how she was at the docks, her true self, not a nightmarish twisted version nor is it the idealistic dreamy version of her from headspace, it’s just Mari our big sister there to protect and support us for one final duet. I believe every depiction of white dress, pale Mari was the real Mari following sunny spiritually into his dreams to try and help guide him on the right path, and that the scary version of her in “Mari is home” in black space 2 never turns to look at omori because in the omori route sunny turns his back on the truth everytime she tries to guide him towards it so it’s her visually showing just how truly disappointed in him that she is and somehow that hurts and scares me so much more then any jumpscare could’ve, that Mari turned her back on him and even though she was right there she completely ignored him. She obviously still loves him because buried so so deep down in a deep dark well within black space 2 is her hidden, barely legible, blurred out “I’m sorry” (hidden at the bottom of the well underneath a trap door that was hidden beneath a bed that was obviously meant to represent her bed from real life) but she no longer has the strength to try to help him directly anymore. Mari spiritually returns home at the end of the prologue (her knocking on the door), but in the omori route there’s no ‘home’ to return to because sunny never leaves to reconnect with the others and overcome his trauma. Mari ignores the headspace versions of Hero, Aubrey and Kel, and turns her back on omori and completely ignores him as well because it isn’t real, none of its real and she’s still waiting for sunny and her true friends to reunite even though it’s too late. In this concept home isn’t the place, it’s the minds of the people she loved. Also super random and off topic but I find it insanely sad that even tho he doesn’t know real life Basil killed himself in the hikkikomori route, that the only two people omori confines to the picnic blanket in headspace are the only two people sunny loved that both canonically die in real life (Mari and Basil.) And that even tho he’s confined to the blanket and can’t do anything anymore, headspace Basil still has severe anxiety and feels like something is inherently *wrong* he just doesn’t have enough freedom to figure out what it is anymore so he’s just confused and nervous whenever he sees omori. Also the headspace hug with Mari and Basil and all of them at the end of the hikkikomori route paralleling the real hug between the remaining members of the gang in faraway town in the sunny route broke my heart in more ways then I ever thought possible bc it just left me feeling so empty inside

I DID A HUGE MISTAKE WATCHING THIS VIDEO ON 1:30 AM. the jumpscare in the housetown really got me EVEN THO I PREPARED MYSELF- But I really liked the video, you did a great job!!!! EDIT: Now that it's morning and I'm looking back on this, It looks so silly😭😭
If you do another video I recommend long-snout from backspace 2, good video glad I opened the door for Mari and just looked away from the screen in my playthrough lol

Although it wouldn't be as exaggerated as in the dream world, where we have sharks in suits who own companies or a female and narcissistic humanoid donut. I would think it would be cool because it would make a very interesting contrast between what Sunny thinks Mari's ghost is (something or hellmari) vs what her ghost really is (a figure more similar to her human form without any kind of deformity like a stretched mouth for example and Mari's real ghost wouldn't be aggressive in any way, unlike what Sunny I think it is)

hey you missed a few more scary stuff (SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!) when you stab yourself on the first day you will see something (not something something) on day 3 after hanging out with kel and saving basils photo album after the spider segment when you get the chance go back to whitespace and stab yourself go downstairs then theres some events go to the kitchen for a event that involes mari
I would say about the fridge jumpscare in three day left in night when you like end the whole day to night of you sleep and went to white space you still learned how to stab of you stab you will wake up too early in night there of you explore the house scary things can happen even hellmari still there in your bathroom's mirror (only appear once) of you decide to open the fridge, ghost mari or mari appear behind as 2 frame sunny shuts the fridge and look behind as she disappear before he look (the place gets darker when she appears) it just terrifying since you know the fridge is empty and just want to open it for no reason
Honestly, the first one, after the scene we had before, i didn't found scary. I mean, it's not hellmari, it's not SOMETHING. It's just Mari, behind yes, but i found it like she was caring for Sunny. And the fact that we saw her in her "real" (or most, at least), means for me that all the guilt, all the pain left Sunny for a while, like he could deal with all of that and started to forgive himself

I would say about the fridge jumpscare in three day left in night when you like end the whole day to night of you sleep and went to white space you still learned how to stab of you stab you will wake up too early in night there of you explore the house scary things can happen even hellmari still there in your bathroom's mirror (only appear once) of you decide to open the fridge, ghost mari or mari appear behind as 2 frame sunny shuts the fridge and look behind as she disappear before he look (the place gets darker when she appears) it just terrifying since you know the fridge is empty and just want to open it for no reason

Honestly, the first one, after the scene we had before, i didn't found scary.
I mean, it's not hellmari, it's not SOMETHING. It's just Mari, behind yes, but i found it like she was caring for Sunny.
And the fact that we saw her in her "real" (or most, at least), means for me that all the guilt, all the pain left Sunny for a while, like he could deal with all of that and started to forgive himself
