I’ve ordered the Takomo 101’s about four weeks ago and was looking forward to playing them. Now after seeing your video I’m looking forward to playing with them even more so.
Love the presentation, the precise and positive comments . Has cleared my thinking on my next purchase. Cobra TEC X, as the Tokomo range does not seem to be available over hear in England. I'm from the Emerald Isle and have only just found your channel. Seems like you had a great time in Ireland and I hope the Takomo 101 served you well. I too game the Takomo 101 irons and have been really impressed with them. I play off 8 and they were easily half the price of the top brands here in Ireland when I purchased them in 2022, so it was a no-brainer when it came to my decision and certainly no regrets after 8 months of use. Love the channel, keep up the great work.
I took my new Takomo 101’s to the range yesterday and I really enjoyed them. We have had a ton of rain and the course will be next when it dries out some. Great video!
Great stuff as always Gabe…I think people need to stop looking at the number on the club when comparing and look at the loft. The Mizuno looks like the best club of them all (Haven’t seen your pick yet). It’s 32 degrees, so the 7 iron will not go as far, but that’s why you have a 6 iron! Makes no sense anymore to compare clubs by distance unless the lofts are identical. Also, wondering what you had for shafts. Were they all the same shaft, or whatever stock shaft they came with? I’ve been testing T100s and T200 irons with 3 different shafts, LA Golf 85R, AMT White S300, and Project X LZ 6.0 shafts…WORLD of difference across the board with the different shafts. Although the Project X LZ is the stiffest and heaviest of the 3 shafts in this list, it made both clubs feel the best. They were both numb with the LA Golf, and just meh with the AMT White shafts…never really focused too much on shafts until now and was blown away. So for me, in the end, it’s all about the feel. I’m not a pro golfer and don’t play to score the lowest score possible all the time. I go out to enjoy a round by hitting a bunch of solid, buttery shots. My T200s flew far, but I never felt like I hit a good shot…My T100s irons are so buttery I come away from the course with about a dozen or so memorable and buttery shots…
Initially I thought you would go with the Cobra Forged Tec X but after seeing your review of the Takomo I figured you'd go that way. I was surprised they did not show up in your earlier video where you ranked all the manufactures since they had been a hot topic on so many channels. But glad you finally got a chance to try them out and found something that suits your game so well - we should all be so fortunate. Congrats and enjoy your trip to Ireland brother.

I thought for certain you would choose the Cobra Forged Tech irons. Really good group of irons in this video! The Takomo irons are worth a look! I’m still playing the Tour Edge EXS Forged Cavity irons. They’re a great fit for me.

I knew it! Thanks Gabe, another video confirming the Takomos are the right ones for me! I'm getting fitted on Friday for shafts and lie angles, and I'm taking those measurements to Takomo for some clubs in my specs!
@@chocolatemuscles So I had my fitting. We tried out a lot of the options and found that I like the graphite shafts the best. I couldn't test the exact shaft that Takomo offers, I'm not sure if that one is discontinued. Makes me think it may be difficult to get that shaft. I tested club heads and I hit the Stealth the best by far. A little stronger lofted than the Takomos at 28 vs 30. I tried the Ping G425 which is lofted equally, but I hit that club poorly. I didn't like the top line at all and it didn't inspire much confidence. I'm considering buying club heads only from Takomo and then figuring out the shafts later on. But of course with as well as I hit the Stealth irons, I have to consider buying what I fitted in to. The $1200 price tag is a little steep though. I'm glad I went through this process, it's definitely gonna make this decision more educated than before!

I ended up buying a second hand set of Cobra One Lengths on the weekend so flipped the script entirely. Bit of an experiment for our summer and if it fails I'll do what your doing. Funnily enough the guy I bought the Cobras off had bought and quickly sold the Takomo 101s, didn't like them at all and went with a brand new set of Cobras..
Interesting choice. I would love to see a side by side comparison of the Tacomo 101’s vs the Haywood golf signature irons. Both direct to consumer, hollow body, similar look and price point.
After trying a number of clubs on the course this year, the clear winner for me was the Cobra Forged Tec X. The feel was incredible and I was amazed work workable they were for me given folks were saying that that would be an issue. Nope. These bad boys do whatever I want and that ball blasts off the face beautifully. Great review!! 👍🏻😎👍🏻
Nailed it! Really enjoying your content lately as I've finally been able to get back into the game I love after a shoulder injury set me back a couple of years. Right now in my bag are the PXG Gen 5 clubs, from driver to wedges and absolutely loving them. Idid hit the Xcor and like you mention it's a pretty great value considering what you get in the Iron. Thanks Alan, I’ve been mulling it over for about three weeks. Playing one for a round and then the other. It’s been a tough choice but now I’ve got to stick with it, and I’m confident they will serve me well.

My main bag has PXG 0211s from 2021, 4-GW and 52, 56 degree forged wedges. I also have an 0211 5, 7 woods and a 19 degree hybrid 1 can mix and match depending on the course. Cobra F9 driver and 3 wood top off the bag.
Yup. I ordered them 3 weeks ago. Cannot wait for them to hit my bag. Ordered them with KBS Tour Light Regular Shafts + 0,25'', standard lie and medium sized lamkin grips. Boy am I excited to be getting them soon. Gotta get my gapping worked over though, I'll probably get rid of my Ping 7w (screwed down to 19.5°), since I didn't carry a 4i up until now. Or vice versa, leave the 4i in its wrapping.

Very comprehensive and honest review. I have Cobra Rad Speeds and would love to play the MIM's. I've demo'd the Tour Edge and they are, like you said, good clubs. Sad to see that the Tommy Armours always seem to fade away because they should be right up there with the others for feel and value. Planning to move to Florida and hope to see you on the course someday.
Hi Roger, those Tommy Armours are great, just wanted to focus on new releases. I believe they came out in 202. Good clubs none-the-less and certainly value packed. Congrats on moving to the Sunshine State.
This shows how many great clubs are on the market right now. The differences were small & mostly boil down to spin needs for your swing, and what looks good to your eye at address. Good luck in Ireland!
for me it was a no brainer,the whole time watching i'm saying to my self he is going to pick Takomo ,after watching you test them ,i ordered them .will be turning 75 in Oct, now hoping to receive them for a day of birthday golf .thank you sir for the all the hard work involved in creating such great videos and content. stay well sir.

Sad to see Ben Hogan go out of business. Been playing hogans since the mid-70s. With a few others mixed in, Being 66 I bought my last set a year ago. What’s your thoughts on new irons? Mizuno, takomo, etc. my handicap has ballooned to 12. TIA
Bought a set of Edges 3 years ago. Had a set of Edge GS from about ‘93. Glad I have a set before they closed their doors. Have a putter, 18 degree hybrid, and a 4 wood as well, 48,52, 56 degree wedges. Don’t have a driver, well I have an old wooden head one but it’s not going in the Hogan bag.
Hi Gabe: great review! I have to say as a long-time follower, I wasn't surprise at all by any of the results. I kind of had a similar experience. I thought the Cobra Forged Tec was the club of 2021, and this year's was only better. Only problem for me is the power loft. Loved the Mizuno. But the Takomo is not just the value, its what you get, and having see ALL your videos this year, and seeing you play those, I have zero surprise they are in your bag. At some point, you may want to try the Takomo 201s. They are awesome and forged and the feel is exceptional. You may want to try the 101Ts also (meaning 101 tour). Same as the 101, except a more player's profile blade with shorter length and a little less offset. I love that Takomo doesn't overdo the lofts. The 201s are half-traditional lofts; the 7 iron is at 32 degrees. That said, you trip sounds amazing! So happy for your and the 101s and I am hope that you will have an amazing and most enjoyable time! Cheers!

I like the Mizuno 225, have been playing Hogan PTx Pro for the past three years and like them except for the shafts could not get the TT XP shafts from Hogan...If some one has a lot of money and can buy back the Hogan name, and license, then maybe Hogan will be back on the marktet....
I figured you would go with the forged tec, 223's, or tacomo. You had good spin, height, and distance from all 3, plus your previous comments on these clubs have been glowing. I think you would have been very happy with any of the three. Looking forward to your trip to southwest Ireland.

I’ve got apex pros at the moment and I’m just not good enough for them. Keen on the 101, what’d you do to decide on spec before ordering? I’m thinking of getting fit for P790s and matching up as best I can shaft and lie angle from that?
Gabe - did you consider the Tacomo 101Ts? I am very interested in these because of the great reviews and also because of the price. I am currently playing Titleist AP1s, and wouldn't mind the slimmer topline and supposedly more workability of the 101Ts, but I don't want to sacrifice forgiveness. Love the channel!
I got them with the KBS Max Stiff. Not the exact same in all of them though. Unfortunately some manufactures have different stock options. But each of them were stiff and at or near 95g.
Great video series Gabe! Did I miss what shafts you chose? I'm currently gaming Nike Vapar Fly woods, 2013 Anser Irons, and Wilson Staff Model HT wedges. I love the opportunty to share what's in my bag. My Anser's have NS Pro 850gh. As someone who's had a brand loyality to TT, I'm surprised how much I enjoy them. It's also my first set of forged irons. So that could have something to do with it as well. Great find at Play It Again! Enjoy th channel, keep up the good work!
Great choice, I thought you would go with the Tour Edge Exotics. I wish you a lot of fun for your Golf trip. I play the Titleist T300, as a left handed player there is not so much choice and I am happy with my Titleist irons
Nice choice Gabe, although I bet the Cobra Forged Tec was a close second. Am I right? I know you wanted this sorted in time for your Ireland trip, but think it’s a shame you didn’t try the Wilson D9 Forged. They’ve got rave reviews. Maybe a late comparison when you get back?
Good review. I figured you would go for the forged tecs. The takomo's are pretty sweet too though. If I didn't already have p790s, I would probably go for the Cobra's.
Totally didn’t expect that. I thought you were going with the forgetec x. And was hoping for the 223s since that’s my gamer. Makes me very intrigued with the takomos…. Maybe when I upgrade my irons in the future.
Getting fit soon. Looking at Mizuno Pro 223, Takomo 201...but those Forged Tec look and perform great. The Cobra are a bit stronger than I'd like, but they are very impressive.
I’d really like to see you review some Sub70 clubs. I’ve heard great things about pretty much everything they make. Also, those Takomo’s look an awful lot like the Sub70 699 series.

For feel if you liked Mizuno irons I know I wouldn't want to go off your choices. I love Mizuno just don't care for the feel of their irons. The ST 220 Drivers are great I use the Z. And as for irons it would be very hard to beat my 21 P790's. Amazing feel, forgiveness, workability, Accuracy. I could go on and on about the 790
In all your reviews you definitely hit the Takomos best of all. I thought you may go forged tec but for as good as they feel you didn’t have your best day with them. I really like that kbs max shaft the takomos come with as well and that may be the difference
Love the Takomos getting some love, direct to consumer. Gabe, you may wanna look at Sub 70, New Level, and Haywood for more direct to consumer, high quality, good value clubs. My next irons are gonna be those 101's as well.

I thought for sure you would stick with your MP223's especially with your love for Mizuno. I'm loving my 223's. Yes they average shorter but once I put my ego aside and clubbed up about half a club I was hitting distances I had with my Ping G400's but with much better stopping power.
I thought you would go with the forged tec since feel and workability are very important. Currently I am playing the pxg gen 3 xp irons which feel great, go very long and are workable and are only $129 per iron. Have a great trip! Looks like so much fun.

I love the look of the cobra irons ! That was my choice ! Either one ! I currently play taylormade rocketbladez but would love to move into something alittle nicer looking but still be forgiving ! Distance isn’t a problem for me I feel good with distance but would love to get the ball lower and not so high !

Great work mate, only thing I’d say is that with the spin you must be in the wrong shafts. Even with those lofts and heads you should be averaging 5500

On all the irons I hit and fell in love with were the p790's , Tech x, I was really hoping they would of had the tour edge c722.. to compare them.. you have probably hit them all what is your take on the struggle of mine?? Returned my Ping I525’s - good forgiveness and distance but sooo clicky and not something I was willing to live with. Tested Forged Tec against Miz 225 and Cobra won on feel and consistency (on the day). Cobra took my money - extremely happy thus far
Please review the Ram FX77. It seems to have all the modern tech in a slick package. It could be the poorest man’s p790. Even cheaper than the takomo 101.
I don’t understand your mizuno comment about distance. You weren’t happy with the distance, but the mizuno loft was essentially the same as an 8 iron in the other brands, so what difference does it make of it says 7 or 8 on the clubs. I would rather have loft numbers on clubs now because iron numbers are irrelevant with loft jacking.
Hey Gabe. Nice job on all of your videos. I am torn between the Stealth irons and the Tour Edge C722/C721 irons. I actually hit the Stealth locally and wasn't overwhelmed even though I hit some mighty good shots as well. I have had success with most Tour Edge products in the past. I even had the EXS irons for a bit until my son talked me into giving them up to him. Didn't care for the extra offset and the back edge look in the mid irons. Do you think the Tour Edge C series is longer and or straighter/better feeling than the Stealth? Sorry for the long diatribe and keep up the great work.
Fairly similar performance-wise. The big selling point for the tour edge exotics is just how street they are but the Stealths no slouch either. I think I would give the nod to the C722 if for nothing else the pure value. Good luck!

I figured based upon your review and this list of 'bests' this would be the best overall club for you. These look very nice and if you know your specs you can get a good set. I think the only knock on them would be minimal customization. A tall or short person might have some problems but it also looks like you can just order the heads and drop whatever shaft you want in them. That might be the way I go if I decide to change up sometime in the future. So you can put whatever shaft you want at whatever length you want and still come out with a good value.
Wow. All of those expensive clubs and the Tokamos won?! Price aside, were those truly the best performing? Or were they chosen BECAUSE they are good for the price?

I tried to not really take price into account. I assumed when I went into this I was going to spend about $1200 for Irons. The fact that I could spend half is even better for me but really they were the better clubs but admittedly just buy a hair.

I got the kbs tour stiff, great feel for me. 105 to 108 swing speed with driver if that helps.

But of course with as well as I hit the Stealth irons, I have to consider buying what I fitted in to. The $1200 price tag is a little steep though. I'm glad I went through this process, it's definitely gonna make this decision more educated than before!

I ended up buying a second hand set of Cobra One Lengths on the weekend so flipped the script entirely. Bit of an experiment for our summer and if it fails I'll do what your doing. Funnily enough the guy I bought the Cobras off had bought and quickly sold the Takomo 101s, didn't like them at all and went with a brand new set of Cobras..
Interesting choice. I would love to see a side by side comparison of the Tacomo 101’s vs the Haywood golf signature irons. Both direct to consumer, hollow body, similar look and price point.

After trying a number of clubs on the course this year, the clear winner for me was the Cobra Forged Tec X. The feel was incredible and I was amazed work workable they were for me given folks were saying that that would be an issue. Nope. These bad boys do whatever I want and that ball blasts off the face beautifully. Great review!! 👍🏻😎👍🏻
The titleist 200 and 300 were the clubs for me. I bagged them this last year and they didn’t disappoint.

Nailed it! Really enjoying your content lately as I've finally been able to get back into the game I love after a shoulder injury set me back a couple of years. Right now in my bag are the PXG Gen 5 clubs, from driver to wedges and absolutely loving them. Idid hit the Xcor and like you mention it's a pretty great value considering what you get in the Iron. My main bag has PXG 0211s from 2021, 4-GW and 52, 56 degree forged wedges. I also have an 0211 5, 7 woods and a 19 degree hybrid 1 can mix and match depending on the course. Cobra F9 driver and 3 wood top off the bag.

Yup. I ordered them 3 weeks ago. Cannot wait for them to hit my bag. Ordered them with KBS Tour Light Regular Shafts + 0,25'', standard lie and medium sized lamkin grips. Boy am I excited to be getting them soon. Gotta get my gapping worked over though, I'll probably get rid of my Ping 7w (screwed down to 19.5°), since I didn't carry a 4i up until now. Or vice versa, leave the 4i in its wrapping.
Thought it was going g to be the Cobra Forge Tec - but always a surprise in store. Have fun, and can't wait to see the videos from across the pond!

Very comprehensive and honest review. I have Cobra Rad Speeds and would love to play the MIM's. I've demo'd the Tour Edge and they are, like you said, good clubs. Sad to see that the Tommy Armours always seem to fade away because they should be right up there with the others for feel and value. Planning to move to Florida and hope to see you on the course someday.
Hi Roger, those Tommy Armours are great, just wanted to focus on new releases. I believe they came out in 202. Good clubs none-the-less and certainly value packed. Congrats on moving to the Sunshine State.

Bought a set of Edges 3 years ago. Had a set of Edge GS from about ‘93. Glad I have a set before they closed their doors. Have a putter, 18 degree hybrid, and a 4 wood as well, 48,52, 56 degree wedges. Don’t have a driver, well I have an old wooden head one but it’s not going in the Hogan bag.
Hi Gabe: great review! I have to say as a long-time follower, I wasn't surprise at all by any of the results. I kind of had a similar experience. I thought the Cobra Forged Tec was the club of 2021, and this year's was only better. Only problem for me is the power loft. Loved the Mizuno. But the Takomo is not just the value, its what you get, and having see ALL your videos this year, and seeing you play those, I have zero surprise they are in your bag.
At some point, you may want to try the Takomo 201s. They are awesome and forged and the feel is exceptional. You may want to try the 101Ts also (meaning 101 tour). Same as the 101, except a more player's profile blade with shorter length and a little less offset. I love that Takomo doesn't overdo the lofts. The 201s are half-traditional lofts; the 7 iron is at 32 degrees.
That said, you trip sounds amazing! So happy for your and the 101s and I am hope that you will have an amazing and most enjoyable time! Cheers!

I like the Mizuno 225, have been playing Hogan PTx Pro for the past three years and like them except for the shafts could not get the TT XP shafts from Hogan...If some one has a lot of money and can buy back the Hogan name, and license, then maybe Hogan will be back on the marktet....

Srixon ZX4. Hands down, the best choice. So are the 3 wood and driver. I’m a 3 HDCP and totally enjoy them.

Have you ever tried the Cleveland Launcher XL irons? Pretty solid.
What shafts did you get in your 101's? Did you have the same shaft in all irons you tested?
I got them with the KBS Max Stiff. Not the exact same in all of them though. Unfortunately some manufactures have different stock options. But each of them were stiff and at or near 95g.

I love the opportunty to share what's in my bag. My Anser's have NS Pro 850gh. As someone who's had a brand loyality to TT, I'm surprised how much I enjoy them. It's also my first set of forged irons. So that could have something to do with it as well. Great find at Play It Again! Enjoy th channel, keep up the good work!

Getting fit soon. Looking at Mizuno Pro 223, Takomo 201...but those Forged Tec look and perform great. The Cobra are a bit stronger than I'd like, but they are very impressive.
I’d really like to see you review some Sub70 clubs. I’ve heard great things about pretty much everything they make. Also, those Takomo’s look an awful lot like the Sub70 699 series.

For feel if you liked Mizuno irons I know I wouldn't want to go off your choices. I love Mizuno just don't care for the feel of their irons. The ST 220 Drivers are great I use the Z. And as for irons it would be very hard to beat my 21 P790's. Amazing feel, forgiveness, workability, Accuracy. I could go on and on about the 790

In all your reviews you definitely hit the Takomos best of all. I thought you may go forged tec but for as good as they feel you didn’t have your best day with them. I really like that kbs max shaft the takomos come with as well and that may be the difference

I thought for sure you would stick with your MP223's especially with your love for Mizuno. I'm loving my 223's. Yes they average shorter but once I put my ego aside and clubbed up about half a club I was hitting distances I had with my Ping G400's but with much better stopping power.
I thought you would go with the forged tec since feel and workability are very important. Currently I am playing the pxg gen 3 xp irons which feel great, go very long and are workable and are only $129 per iron. Have a great trip! Looks like so much fun.

I love the look of the cobra irons ! That was my choice ! Either one ! I currently play taylormade rocketbladez but would love to move into something alittle nicer looking but still be forgiving ! Distance isn’t a problem for me I feel good with distance but would love to get the ball lower and not so high !

Great work mate, only thing I’d say is that with the spin you must be in the wrong shafts. Even with those lofts and heads you should be averaging 5500

On all the irons I hit and fell in love with were the p790's , Tech x, I was really hoping they would of had the tour edge c722.. to compare them.. you have probably hit them all what is your take on the struggle of mine?? Returned my Ping I525’s - good forgiveness and distance but sooo clicky and not something I was willing to live with. Tested Forged Tec against Miz 225 and Cobra won on feel and consistency (on the day). Cobra took my money - extremely happy thus far
Have gamed the 101's this season, they're awesome clubs and AMAZING value.
Please review the Ram FX77. It seems to have all the modern tech in a slick package. It could be the poorest man’s p790. Even cheaper than the takomo 101.
I don’t understand your mizuno comment about distance. You weren’t happy with the distance, but the mizuno loft was essentially the same as an 8 iron in the other brands, so what difference does it make of it says 7 or 8 on the clubs. I would rather have loft numbers on clubs now because iron numbers are irrelevant with loft jacking.
The main reason is the gapping I already have in my bag.

Hey Gabe. Nice job on all of your videos. I am torn between the Stealth irons and the Tour Edge C722/C721 irons. I actually hit the Stealth locally and wasn't overwhelmed even though I hit some mighty good shots as well. I have had success with most Tour Edge products in the past. I even had the EXS irons for a bit until my son talked me into giving them up to him. Didn't care for the extra offset and the back edge look in the mid irons. Do you think the Tour Edge C series is longer and or straighter/better feeling than the Stealth? Sorry for the long diatribe and keep up the great work.
Fairly similar performance-wise. The big selling point for the tour edge exotics is just how street they are but the Stealths no slouch either. I think I would give the nod to the C722 if for nothing else the pure value. Good luck!

Got as set myself they are as you described spot on.
I figured based upon your review and this list of 'bests' this would be the best overall club for you. These look very nice and if you know your specs you can get a good set. I think the only knock on them would be minimal customization. A tall or short person might have some problems but it also looks like you can just order the heads and drop whatever shaft you want in them. That might be the way I go if I decide to change up sometime in the future. So you can put whatever shaft you want at whatever length you want and still come out with a good value.

I tried to not really take price into account. I assumed when I went into this I was going to spend about $1200 for Irons. The fact that I could spend half is even better for me but really they were the better clubs but admittedly just buy a hair.
