    well said, the M43 size and portability is being neglected by the whole world. I just hope panasonic would keep release a new one.

      Oweee a new one with some weather sealing and the real time luts would be a game changer. Especially if they could keep a similar form factor.

    Love this! Also, love your shirt. Was quite interesting to hear your thoughts on the GX85. Sounds like you have quite the arsenal, so it's interesting this is what you chose. Thanks for explaining it.

      Thanks for watching! I’m pretty sure I could have been happy with other cameras but for this specific trip it definitely felt like the gx85 was the right tool for the job. If I’m lucky enough to go back next year maybe I’ll take something else so I can compare

    Those are really good photos (and videos), M43 is really great format for people who need portability and still good performance and lens, they even look great when printed, have you tried it?
    btw, love those little speakers, what are those? How do they sound? Thanks!

      @@Dylematix thank you! And yes I have printed some m43 work. I have gotten into printing my photos a lot more lately. I’ve been using bay photo prints and I really like their selection. Do you have a go to printing service or do you do them yourself?
      They sound great! They are the kanto yu2 and every now and then they go on sale on Amazon.

    I just came back from a week of street photography Ian NYC. My plan was to take the recently purchased Fuji X100VI and another Fuji body. Turns out this option was too heavy. I decided to bring two LUMIX GX9s with the 25/1.7 and kit lens 12-60.
    While in NYC I purchased a GX85 from Craigslist for $300 with a battery & charger. I am so happy with this purchase. I love the size and weight of this camera. The only complaint I have is the lack of aa audio in jac. Why LUMIX?

      $300 is a steal! But yeah the mic jack would make it honestly a god tier video camera. LUMIX knew the world wasn’t ready.
      What were you using the second body for? Just a backup?

      @@3goodeyes I wasn’t looking for the GX85. It was such a good price I didn’t let someone else benefit from the good price. I now own two GX85s in case one breakers. I only own one GX8.
      I was using a two body setup. One with the 25/1.7 and the other the kit 12-60. I own the PL12-60 but the kit lens works so well with the GX9. It is lighter than its sister PL version which lives on the G9.
      I was planning to bring my Fuji gear to NYC but the lower weight of the LUMIX bodies and lenses won the day. Both lumix and Fuji produce the gear I want to use.

    Sounds like a really cool experience and I'm sure the family was grateful to have you showing them around! I've done 2 japan trips with m43 gear, and after the more recent one I decided to jump ship for Sony E. I've picked up a GX85 as a sort of last gasp to see if I can make m43 work, and I think it's tough for my personal situation unless we see new bodies and renewed lens support. I'm finding that the boom in 3rd-party support for E-mount and market situation from 2020 onwards really put m43 a generation behind.

    • @3goodeyes
      @3goodeyes  23 години тому

      Oh wow! I’m sad to hear that the smaller sensor system hasn’t been doing the trick but that makes sense though. There’s definitely a confidence that comes with Sony autofocus and ooweee yeah that lens selection is so good. Which shooting situations do you find yourself wishing m43 could improve in?

      @@3goodeyes Honestly it's been all over the place, and I'm still trying to figure out what I want from my gear! I think I was basically at a point where the body+lens (G81 with 12-60 3.5-5.6) was big enough that I was committed to "carrying a real camera" size bag regardless and expecting more quality or more wiggle room in poor light, high-ISO, or I-messed-up-my-settings recovery scenarios (definitely a lot of that last one).

    • @3goodeyes
      @3goodeyes  16 годин тому

      Oh yeah I gotcha. Feeling like you committed to a bigger kit but didn’t really get the benefits. Yeah that’s an interesting point. I don’t think there’s a slot in my workflow for another bigger camera so I’d for sure go with full frame over m43 if I have to bring a backpack anyways. Which Sony body have you been using? It seems like people are pretty impressed with a7cii
