I love how JJ defends all of Sklyar's decisions and shots ... he is like a proud and loving father to Skyler

I think that sometimes players confuse speed with confidence..."I want this guy to be afraid of me, so I'll hit the shot and run around the table to shoot the next one!"

Mark saying that the pro's backswing and forward stroke into the cue ball is like "ladies and gentlemen" and amateur are very short I must not completely understand because between the backswing and stroke on James or Skyler I can barely get ladies out

his philosophy is that it doesn’t really apply to pros since they play for 8-12 hours a day.
but if an amateur does the “ladies and gentlemen” backswing and the other fundamentals he talks about then it makes you more consistent in terms your form.

I think you understand it right, but these players (particularly Sky) don't demonstrate it that well. Old-school players, like Buddy Hall, who have a pronounced pause at the back, really demonstrate it well. I think the idea that the stroke takes 1.3-1.8 seconds sounds a bit too long if you ask me (but I'm not Mark Wilson obv). Niels Feijen has a long pause too. I doubt his entire stroke is over a second.

This event IS held in the US and not the Philippines so thats not really a surprise. Not to mention its only ONE state away from Kentucky, Skyler's home state. I would be more surprised if they WEREN'T biased in Sky's favor...

As they should've been. It was in his backyard.

Fatigue...? Many players do much better when a little bit tired.

I think Jeremy Jones is a pretty good commentator.

You think? Nah he's one of the greatest. He's a better commentator than his pool game that's for sure.

I really dislike the colours of the balls. Too close to the colour of the cloth, also probably a traditionalist as well.

I agree! And how about putting big numbers on the balls (like the 9). I was not sure of the balls for a while.
