Imagine if we actually had attics that came with that Dust Buster kit (idk what it's called) and you'd have those pull-down ladders to get up... BUT YOU COULD POTENTIALLY DIE FROM IT
Jose Escobedo I hate that about it. The Murphy bed made me abandon a save I had for a longgg time because the mother died from the bed and I was in shock brought her back to life but it was never the same
really wish the team could figure out how to make rooms in attics more functional, if not for the sims 4, at least in ts5 lovely build tho, gonna use this in one of my houses
Actually agreed, i’ve been sleeping in an atic for 6 years before we moved to our house wishing none rat falls down while i was sleeping (and that sadly happened when I was 7 years old, I couldn’t even sleep there for almost 2 weeks 😂) Please give build mode the love he/she deserves
Same! I love building A-frames but have the same problem, I wanna build in the angled sides. You can sort of build a playable attic room by building angled roofs on 4 sides, building a room with half walls, and then using the half wall roof hack to drag over a roof, but it's a bit of work and you'll probably need moveobjects, but it's worked for me.
Here’s a tip, page up, and put another small roof piece to cover it up on top. On that on you can pull the eves down so it count as the floor above and you can still see.
Has anyone else noticed that doing roofs like this or any sort of variation where the walls aren't dragged over with the roof... that when it rains there are puddles in your house? I swear it has only been in the last year, but even with putting down some sorts tile below the roof I get puddles. It annoys me when someone builds something amazing, but it rains.
@@taliexo I'm glad I'm not alone. I swear I was going crazy. Both houses I had dogs and I was like 👀 I know these babies are potty trained so what's going on. I never find anyone that talks about it though.
Dude I've been trying to do this since forever!!! My room when I was younger was built like this and so everytime I try to recreate it, I can't. Ty for this🌟🌟
You actually can. I'm on ps4: up & down go through the levels, left shows the roof up & down. While the roof is down showing the floor above your top floor, build a small room in the center within your roof. And there's your attic.
Wow that’s brand new! I’m so bad with roofs and I still build them like it’s 2014 (where you couldn’t see the roof but it would trap your sims upstairs) because build mode can and will do just random things at times 😂😅
I love these small tips and tricks shorts. Im an ok builder so i end up watching vids where ive learned 90% of the tips already to glean one or two new ones. This is more fun
You could make another smaller roof on the floor (grid) above it! Make the lower roof match with the (preferably shortest) wall height so you can place an other roof on the upper level to match where the lower roof would go. Now you drag the upper roof sides over the roof below it. In live mode you can see everything with the walls up on (let's say) the second floor, while the 3th floor is only the upper part of the roof. So basically everything you did except dragging the roof over! Hope this helps 😊 Oh and btw, if you place a floor under the roof on the 3th floor, you could place a hanging lamp in the attic. Otherwise it would float.
This remind me of my niece where she didn't even put a roof for her house in the Sims 3 😂 just a room without a roof and no wall too for the second floor 😂 it my first time saw something like that 😂
i’m confused i didn’t think you had to do anything special to use the inside of the roof.. i’ve always just.. put the roof on and put stairs or a ladder and.. used it?
I wish they would let us color windows from both sides of the walls like sometimes I want my outside windowpanes to match the exterior of my house and the windowpane inside to match my walls but idk
square literally almost does everything, even when you want to place flooring, press square and now instead of squares your flooring will be triangle, that way you can customize your flooring by combining different floors.
Usually I go the other direction. I convert attics into livable spaces. I'm most proud of the Factory One in Windenburg, making the attic into an Airbnb like space with 2 bathrooms, a kitchenette, and beds for 4. 2 beautiful plant rooms.
This is exactly what I've been looking for! I'm trying to build my house, but my bedroom takes up the entire loft and all of my years of building and playing I could never figure out how to make it work.
Hmm I just made a long room along the length of the house in the center and then placed one gable roof through it (if it's an enclosed 4 walled room the roofs go around it & automatically conform). I raised the roof till the corners were not sticking out and voila, you can also place windows on the exterior walls, no need for double windows or trying to blend and match up multiple roof heights. Just a room and 1 roof. Yep.
Another way is to put the roof in sections. Build a room, half gabled roof on two sides of the room, gabled roof on top, adjust height of the roofs to make them flush, and boom! Attic room
I plan on making my own sims videos and shorts pretty soon, called Builder Basics, and I actually didn’t know this whatsoever. I think it would be neat to share this with people in my own way, and I’ll be sure to credit you with the idea :)

i agree! i’m glad you like it 😊
Well you can make functional attics in TS3. But then again we don't even have constrainfloorelevation in TS4, so sucks for us.
@@12wer3wer9 yeaaa i remember using floor constraint cheats for stuff like that, really miss using those cheats so much 😭
there’s one in the cottage living pack and i love it but it’s very inconvenient and hard to build with

I wish they made roofs playable by themselves. I love building victorian/ art noveau but that just means I can‘t play an entire floor

lol no shame! my gallery is taliexottv if you want some more houses to use ☺️
Hah same
I rarely build so this is definitely me. XD But I decided to look up building tips and I'm trying this right now.
And you are so right for it I build a house with crossed gabled roofs and multiple rooms in the attic the other day and I almost died
i'm more of a decorator and renovater so this is me lol
Amazing! Thank you. I also wish they would allow us to paint the ceilings, it completely breaks the illusion to see the construction ceiling color.
Also I miss the auto roof feature!!!
Or hang chandeliers over a stairwell!

There was also a glitch where drinking water would leave a puddle, but that appeared with Bonehilda in the paranormal pack.
@@skullfullofbooks7398 I luckily haven't experienced that one yet, but I hardly use that pack besides for decor in my current plays.
Not only that, but my sims get cold/hot as if they are outside instead of inside
This is great! Now I know where to store my sims seasonal decorations, cribs and old toys x3 Thank you!!
that's a great use for an attic room like this!
You can also do this with one roof piece... Although I think you need stairs, not a ladder. You just play with walls down.
Dude I've been trying to do this since forever!!! My room when I was younger was built like this and so everytime I try to recreate it, I can't. Ty for this🌟🌟
I'm sorry, I don't understand why you couldn't do this with a single roof piece. Could you explain?
you technically could but you wouldn't have sidewalls or the structure of a room
Same I miss that so much it was so cool and felt like I had my own little apartment
Some ppl are so imaginative with the tools at hand. I'd struggle with this without you !!
yay! it makes me so happy to hear that ☺️
I wish we had vaulted ceiling’s. This is actually helpful as I was looking for cc to help me with slanted roofs and stick rooms. Ty!
I love this! It really bothers me that you can’t use the space under the roof normally.
You actually can. I'm on ps4: up & down go through the levels, left shows the roof up & down. While the roof is down showing the floor above your top floor, build a small room in the center within your roof. And there's your attic.
Yeah this 'tip' is kinda stupid honestly. You can definitely use the space under the roof.
I use this Trick for Glass Roof Design and Tiny Houses alot, cause the Floor wouldnt count as Tiles

That's smart, I never thought about using this for a one-floor attic, I always just built a full room and covered it cape cod style lol
Thanks for the tutorial! I’ll be sure to try this in my own games
My favorite trick for micro builds.
You can do it with just 1 gabled roof covering the whole thing, you will be playing with walls down anyways.
Finally! Thank you! Idk why they never try to fix that roof problem

thank you! i did this for my legacy family and it’s a great option too. 😊
throwback to when I used to use the roof tool to make a tent in the sims 3 when I was 12
The attic room looks just like Mabel and Dippers room in gravity falls in the mystery shack
Kinda weird how you slap a roof on a house in Sims 2 and BOOM!
✨you've got an attic✨
I've been looking for a video like because, I'm making a historical farmhouse with an attic room and I'm so glad I found this 😊
Sims 4 play it one and you never stop so addictive
Love seeing FUNCTIONAL builds. Some of these builders get on my nerves.
A helpful tip for my love for sims builds
Thank you I was struggling making a attic room all day
Oh wow never really thought of that, that looks comfy
If only Clare saw this when recreating her irl house lol
That is so smart to furnish it before you put the roofing on!

Attics, vaulted ceilings curved ceilings all of it and give us more windows and door options for the taller homes😮
This is so helpful! Ty
You could add a skylight on the roof for added light
i usually just use another roof if there’s more than one room in the attic, and i build the room and then put the windows later
It looks like Mabel and Dipper room from Gravity Falls
That’s so cool!
Inspiration! Thanks so much
omg this is so cute and perfect because i always play with walls down 😍
