As I’m stuck at home during this Corona virus lock down, I’m trying as much planting in tubs as possible. Finding your videos are keeping it real, helpful, interesting and loving the smile and happy outlook. Fingers crossed my other salad seeds will be delivered but also trying the regrowing from shop items. Running out of window ledges!!! Such fun. Thanks sooo much.
Hii, i need your help. my worm bin is infested with white mite.. those tiny mite.. so much that i got only a few worm left.. i don't know got eaten or got chased out.. what is the less cumbersome thing i can do to revert this ? to get mite under control or annihilated ? need urgent help. thx andrew
andrew ysk you should be the general and give the worms strategy of attack against the mighty mites the strategy can be either 1. placing unsuspected dogs with huge fur laying around the compost, 2. an army of mercenary mites who promise to leave after killing the intruders. 3. and yourself being the general in command directing the battle.
Hi there I'm living in Jamaica I follow your tips and info they've come in so handy for me I use them regularly I wasn't a gardener in the UK but living here I've started gardening. Thanks for the help and advice it's much appreciated keep up the great work.
Thank you for these videos. Great tips, clear and concise instructions. I built my compost bin yesterday. Had to substitute some of the browns and greens with what I could find, but, fingers crossed it will work. Your videos are sooooo watchable I could watch/listen to you all day but I want to get out into the garden and get things done! Stay safe!
Only just found this. Im running late for work (aka the dining room) because Im watching all your videos. Really helpful and you explain it in a way even my kids understand. Ive always gardened flowers, etc but never done fruit and veg. With an allotment coming my way soon I thought it was best to get started with some little potted veggies in my small garden at home. Your videos are short, sweet and easy. Just what I needed.
I'm trying out these layers in a smaller bin since I live in a small place. Its outside now and I am going to turn it in a few weeks. Thank you for sharing all that you have researched and tried. I love the way you learn and share. And I love your smile. I hope you are doing well with your health.
I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to find your channel! I’ve been needing this instruction so badly. Thank you so much for the clear, concise directions and diagrams. My granddad is going to be so excited when I visit and I actually help in the garden instead of murdering his hard earned plants 😂
Brilliant! Did NOT know that bit about the worms not liking the citrus :D makes perfect sense now as to why my worms weren't heading for the bin! Thank you and keep up the great videos. Love your title pics too
I'm so glad I bumped into your channel.. I currently moved in to a non-English speaking country and it's boring to stay at home doing the same thing all the time.. I have started planting onions.. Then bellpeppers.. I'm planning to continue planting melons, lemons and strawberries.. Wish me luck!!! And thanks so much.. 👍
I just found your channel while looking at ways to grow my own garlic. Your videos are amazing! I’m learning so much! We have a compost bin (bought at Costco years ago) and we were able to get good black gold but we want to build a much larger compost area to allow more room and use that compost in our future raised garden. I’m a new subscriber. Thank you so much!
This is good ideas.i tried many times years ago.i ended up with work farm..I'm not a gardener.i never knew back then that I was doing a good job...but it was your method..an it works well😊
after watching about 5 or 6 vids of urs, I decided that you do deserve a like and a big subscribe... respect mate. keep it great, all the best for you and your family...
Greetings from Lancaster, PA! Just found your channel a couple of weeks ago and as a Penn State Master Gardener I have to say I'm quite impressed! Your videos are very good and you explain everything very well. Keep up the great work!
hi there just got my self a nice little plot and started growing and learned so much off your films thanks for taking the time to make them they have been very helpful hope to see some more uploaded soon thanks again andy
I've always wondered how to do this, though I didn't know about what not to use. Your full of knowledge. I hope you continue to make many more videos. If a person/ persons were intending to be self sustaining or live off the grid or basically not starve if society were to go belly up, this know how would be necessary to have as a springboard, and you do it on a budget! How thoughtful! I'm off to watch and like n favourite your avocado video, the minerals n vitamins in those plants are meant to be off the charts. Live long! 👍🕺👀
Thank you! That's the exact reason why I'm sharing so many videos. I have zero budget to work with so it's down to my imagination to solve problems and make the most of everything/anything around me :)
I did what you said and my pile of compost heated up to 160 degrees (F) in just a few days! ..and it is only about 35 degrees outside. I ran all my green leaves and shrub trimmings through a chipper and mixed in about a 150 lbs of aged sawdust and rabbit manure. After a week and a half, its already breaking down and turning dark. Thanks for the tips!
Man big thanks for all you're doing! Great content! I'm sure like many I came here for avocado tips and now I've just been educated on a great deal more! Cheers man!
Another great video, Lee. Your channel has inspired me to keep at gardening. There have been a few failures here and there but I get all the motivation I need from Project Diaries and I can tell you that I have never enjoyed my garden more. Your hard work and dedication is worth all the appreciation you get and you deserve more! Thanks for all the knowledge you share with us:-) I'm hoping we have a fabulous summer in the UK this year; I've just started off with some Okra and I'm keeping all my fingers and toes crossed! :-D
So good to hear! I'm very glad it's kept you growing. I'm hoping for good weather soon as the frost last week have really damaged a lot of crop already this year :-(
Project Diaries Oh no, that's a real shame. We had heavy rains last week in the South-West, but nothing more. Good luck with your plants, we need them to be able to learn more! :-)
Excellent channel mate. My Garlic as growing, lemons are having trouble after germination but my compost is going strong. Thanks for the informative approach. Let garden on.
Loving your videos and learning lots. Hopefully can make this bin and remember to do all the steps correctly. Thanks so much. You explain everything so well!
Hi, I just found your channel and have subscribed, of course ! That sounds very much like a Brighton accent.... ? I'm from Portslade but now living in Cumbria, via Mexico. I really like your no-nonsense way of doing things and I can see I'm not alone. On the subject of compost, the soil in my Mexican garden was dust in the dry season and mud in the wet so I thought some organic material would be just right. But if you make a compost heap in Mexico you don't get lovely by-product, you get snakes, scorpions and tarantulas all laying their eggs in there. I got round that by digging holes and filling each one with composting material, then topping it off with 6 inches of "soil"... OK, it was dust ! But it did work in time. Things are much easier in Cumbria, if rather windier, darker, cooler and much, much wetter ! All the best, Pete
Thanks for the information. Now I’m going to try building one tomorrow. Think I have the gardening bug! Been saving coffee grounds for my tomato plants and potato peelings so, now to build a compost bin. Great video,❤️
You're right on the mark, Bud. Kudos! The only thing I do differently is use straw instead of brown, dried-up leaves (not enough deciduous trees around here). Excellent video. Keep it up, and Be Well.
Jonathan Peter Tampus I think it’s wonderful that you want to garden. I wish you well in your school work and future gardening. I have a good feeling that you’ll excel in both. You sound like a very positive individual. Best of luck for the future.
Jonathan Peter Tampus You only need 20 min to turn the pile and 20 min to set up a no dig garden bed. You need.. cardboard compost seeds. The whole thing takes 20 min to set up. Dont make excuses !
THANK YOU for your efforts! I find the videos I have watched incredibly clear and helpful! I appreciate the inspiration and am excited to see what you post in future! :-)
Hi! thanks for this very informative video, I wonder if you had any indoor solutions for people living in apartments and couldn't build that big a pile outdoors?
We have rabbits, so I have been using rabbit poo this year. For some reason I decided to just shovel in some of the bedding & poo to the planting holes for my tomatoes & peppers this year. After doing it I thought, what the heck was I doing? Got worried about all kinds of things, but I checked out some vids on here and come to find out that throwing straw or hay into a hole before planting is something that's been done for centuries in climates like mine (where the devil goes to warm up-Texas). And of course rabbit poo is great for the garden. So I left it alone and my peppers and tomatoes are coming along really well. The tomatoes didn't show any sign of transplant shock at all, and the peppers are coming along really well. Evidently the straw helps hold in water in the soil around the plant, which is why this has been used in hot places around the world. I'm really happy about that, because we've had a drought (it has been cooler this year with only 110 degree days instead of the usual two week to a month stretch of 115 degree days) and I don't need to water nearly as much as I've had to in the past. I think it would be worth a try no matter where you live, just to save on watering-because who wants to do that all the time? Plus it helps save on our resources. Reading through the comments I saw yo have access to rabbit poo now, so I thought I'd mention it. Might save you some watering come next planting time!
Other than Slug damage I've been fairly lucky growing everything without the use of any additional fertilisers etc. They Homemade Compost is working a treat :)
Thanks for keeping your project diaries going. It's so helpful so awesome!!! Can I put rat poop in the compost? I don't have brown leaves in my garden due to California weather so what can I substitute it for?
Thanks for all these videos! I've watched a few now. You're really good at taking the time to explain all this stuff. Btw is it London you're based? I'm trying to place the accent. I'm up in Scotland but I'm sure most of these methods will work in my cold(er) climate :D

A typical garden will have both grass and weeds so when you mow the grass, you will end up with both grass and weed clippings. Some of these could be perennial weed clippings. Can these be used in the compost? If not how do you differentiate and separate perennial weed clippings from grass clippings?
You've mentioned aerating the compost and check for any moisture problems. What should be done in case moisture is present? Just removing it from the pile?

Fingers crossed my other salad seeds will be delivered but also trying the regrowing from shop items. Running out of window ledges!!! Such fun. Thanks sooo much.
No need to buy seeds for everything. Plant a slice of tomato then separate seedlings. Ditto strawberries.
Where has this channel been !?!? You're videos are helpful, informative and clear Thank you so much!
I've been here for a year :) Glad you found me now! You're welcome

Jonathan Peter Tampus You only need 20 min to turn the pile and 20 min to set up a no dig garden bed. You need..
cardboard
compost

The whole thing takes 20 min to set up.
Dont make excuses !
I wish I can do gardening and studying at the same time

Great video!! 😊
Hi! thanks for this very informative video, I wonder if you had any indoor solutions for people living in apartments and couldn't build that big a pile outdoors?
Simple use a bucket under a sink and rotate regularly :)
Project Diaries okay thank you!
This is brilliant!! Where have you been hiding?!
awesome video ...I learn a lot thanks
You're welcome. Glad you liked it :)
Great video!
Thanks!
We have rabbits, so I have been using rabbit poo this year. For some reason I decided to just shovel in some of the bedding & poo to the planting holes for my tomatoes & peppers this year. ur actually a charming one.. thanku for sharing ur videos..
Thanks for keeping your project diaries going. It's so helpful so awesome!!! Can I put rat poop in the compost? I don't have brown leaves in my garden due to California weather so what can I substitute it for?
Can I use a large trash bin to store compost?? Love your channel! Thanks for sharing your knowledge🙌🏻
Brilliant video
As someone who lives on the desert in the Rez, I'm not sure if this'll be helpful for sand but it won't hurt to try
Great page 👍🏻
Thanks for all these videos! I've watched a few now. You're really good at taking the time to explain all this stuff. Btw is it London you're based? I'm trying to place the accent. I'm up in Scotland but I'm sure most of these methods will work in my cold(er) climate :D
Hi good video, it will help us for our stem project!!!
Thanks for the video. You advised not to use perennial weeds to make the compost.
A typical garden will have both grass and weeds so when you mow the grass, you will end up with both grass and weed clippings. Some of these could be perennial weed clippings. Can these be used in the compost? If not how do you differentiate and separate perennial weed clippings from grass clippings?

Hey man love the channel. Do you have any advice on vermicomposting?
