Picked up a bike last week in WV. 1st time off the interstate there. Got lost around tygart lake. No gps. Went through masontown onto the interstate. Ended up 30 miles east of buckhannon. Did I mention no gps....lol Great roads for riding. As long as you know where your going.

I got just the bags couple months ago. So far I like them. I still want the bottle holders but seems everything online is out of stock. Great video again. I hopeyou are enjoying your cross country trip. Be safe on your travels

The bottle holders aren’t part of the bags? They look integrated.

@@leftymike8730 no they are sold separately. They mount with the molly straps on the bags

Left Mike, what you see in my video is integrated as part of the bag. I've linked what Scott is talking about www.rockymountainatvmc.com/parts/tusk-bottle-holder-kit-p

@@2WR Thx Mario, unfortunately it does not look like these bags are available for either my 1250gs or my wife’s 700gs. I am pretty satisfied with my Touratechs but my wife has no luggage at all and these looked perfect for her….standing by for the “shoulda bought an orange bike” reply, lol!

I like the idea of soft bags for off road and they don't stick out as far when empty but I'm never going to figure out how big 40 liters is or even 20 or 30 liters. I just figured out about the size of a mm bolt by looking at it now I got to figure how much space a liter takes. Metric system was not a strong point for me in school.

I have them on my 2020 1290 SAS. Love em just wish they didn't stick out as far but maybe all bikes are like that?

All depends on the bikke/bodywork/exhaust etc

Impressive setup. Great review. Seems like with that bulletproof material that the soft bags would do better in a drop situation when adventuring...absorb some impact vs. damage/denting to hard bags.

Its certainly nicer to snag soft bags on things vs hard boxes. You can ride away from bumping or snagging the soft bags in most cases, not the other way around haha

Great video..thank you! Still running the bags? How have they held up?

Was until I sold the bike earlier today. Let them go with the bike. Aside done being dirty, still look/work like they did when new.

Thanks for the review Mario - I purchased the same '16 KTM 1290 SA (as you) new in '17 and have struggled with the quality, lack of ruggedness, mounting, and wind resistance of the KTM Side Panniers. Note: the top case is fine. I am 98-99% on-road and go on an annual 2500 - 4000 mile ride in between my short rides throughout the year in the western US. With that said, would you consider replacing the 2016 KTM 1290 SA OEM side panniers with these Tusk Olympus Soft Panniers?

Since I keep my 1290 mostly as my rode bike, No. I like the locking ability of the hard bags and like how they are integrated into the bike. I keep my saddlebags on a shelf unless I'm touring so I enjoy the cleaner look of no racks. For my 990, I don't mind the racks since that's the only way you can mount bags. That said, I like you'll like the tusk rack/bags as they are a very nice setup. I just personally don't want to swap out my factory hard bags on my 1290. Hope that makes sense.

I’m skepticle.. the bags are mostly clean like they haven’t been used much. But I like the concept.

They’ve got 1,500 ADV miles on em and my boys couldn’t stop checking them out wanting a pair. Not saying they’re THE best but for the money they’re tough to beat. (Also look clean because they’re just gotten home from a ride in the rain).

The only thing I personally don't like about those bags, the two big straps across the seat.

    • @2WR
      @2WR  3 роки тому +1

They're for added safety. You could cut them off or tuck them in if you want want to used them since they are held onto the bracket with the pin.

A little disappointed in this review after seeing 2 water bottles versus what size Jack Daniels bottle that carrier can hold.
