- A young Brian Lara with his great achievements during the early stage of his career and his experience playing cricket as a child in his home town Cantaro in Trinidad and Tobago. Lara’s class, foot work, shots range and match understanding was the best. This is my tribute to a living legend who had the capacity to change any game at any given time.

I Love Brian Charles Lara...I wish I could meet him in my life...
Absolutely fantastic player of all time
Brian Charles Lara had a lot of games whenever I saw his beautiful strokes , Master of all time...
He was the best I have seen..
Wow, Darren Gough saying him "by far" is special. For Mc Grath, Murali, Gillispie, and Waqar as well. They all stated that he's the best batsmen they've ever bowled at. The best player of his generation 👏.
Agreed, that is quite a statement.... and it wasn’t coming from a place of trauma, Gough didn’t play in Lara’s record breaking high score records!
It's the truth though. none of Lara's contemporaries played under the pressure he played under. In a way, he was born into pressure in international cricket. After Viv and Greenidge retired, Lara, Dessie Haynes and Adams increasingly became who the WI relied on to post a competitive score. After Dessie retired and Adams lost form, it essentially became a one man job. Lara was the only man in the 90s in the WI who averaged over 45(he averaged over 50). Chanders averaged in the early 40s but was out injured regularly. Hooper, the most gifted batsman, averaged in the 30s. Lara gave so much to WI cricket its unreal, and it was largely a thankless job because every time we lost, he was blamed, even when he scored runs. When Lara scored the tired but psychedelic 100 off 80 balls in 99, the innings that followed the 213 and 153 n.o, there were some leading Caribbean cricket figures who said Lara batted too quickly. It became absurd at one point. But when you are as good as Lara, when you're genius is so far out of even the conception of most people, you're going to have haters. It happened to Sobers, it happened to Botham....never happened to Viv but that's because people were intimidated by him.
@@juanestadian8471 agreed! Didn't know Viv wasn't criticized. Like Lara, he didn't get the send off he deserved.
