The pirate ship shedding it's outside would also make sense because the pirates we've seen in star wars often use cables to tether themselves and board other ships. Having a removable hull would work perfectly to escape harpoons in the sides
It’s also a great way to get out of any number of other hairy situations like the ship being recognized and needing a quick disguise, a boarding party with an airlock tube or boarding shuttle attached to the hull, the ship getting overwhelmed by buzz droids, and obviously when the ship is about to get eaten by a huge scrapping droid.
The false hull could be a reference to the original Heir to the Empire trilogy. At one point Thrawn finds out that Luke is in a small ship and tries to capture him as he leaves a planet with The Chimera's tractor beams. Luke leaves the bridge as his ship as it is being pulled in. Thrawn think's he has succeeded when the outside of Luke's ships blows off revealing that the outside was a false shell and that his ship was really his X-Wing. The Chimera's tractor beam can not grab the X-Wing because the false shell fragments are in the way and getting pulled in instead; allowing Luke to escape.

I really like this episode the renewed bonding of the heroes and the new stakes for Jod and At Attan feel like they are all leading up to something big!
Boba Fett b didn't have to take Jabba's palace, but as it was essentially unoccupied, it made a convenient base of operations. Fett wanted to be the crime boss of Tatooine because it's where so of his skill attributes were spent and he knew he could enact changes on Tatooine that would make life better for the Tuskens (and others).

Great breakdown! I think crab theme goes a little further too. It is surely about rashaping itself to fit the kids, but it also plays on a theme of deception and hidden treasure or what "treasure" might really be (as arguementively the Onyx Cinder is more beautiful, perhaps faster, and the kids have now found trust and solice in each other, etc) and this makes me think that there are bigger twists coming with the truth(s) about At-Attin, and/or Jod, and/or Tak Reddon! In addition crabs were also featured in POTC: AWE (At World's End) in Davey Jones Locker as it was used as motif of Jack being like "a rolling stone" thematically leading to his freedom and where to do so, all the other main characters have come together. It's the beginning a Jack Sparrow redemption arc that isn't yet quite fullfilled by the films, but almost (Will is no longer the Captain of the Flying Duthcman, so that's something). But getting back to the kids coming together, KB is not just like Lobot IMO, but also Rose Tico. What I think some people may not have gotten from TLJ is that while a series of ruse play on the themes of faulires of the Jedi and Republic of prequels, Rose's concerns, her teaching Finn the importance of following through on a mission, along with Luke Skywalker sacrificing himself for the resistence all play on the OT's themes of hope! In those films, Luke had to learn then too that to win against the Empire, you had to often work as a team memeber of the rebellon. It was their best chance, even if at the end of the day, Luke had to face certain people in particular, he had to "grow" with his friends first to be ready enough. (And even then, the Empire wasn'tcompletely gone and was able to emerge in new ways) The crabs also interestinly juxtapose the newly introduced Noti species found on Peridea in Ahsoka! There have been lots of little Mandoverse indirect connections. It will be interesting to see if it will at more ardently all crossover and/or how the fallout of this series may impact the other Mandoverse stuff...
Loved the explanation about the outter shell of the ship; although I believe it was also the reason why the ship was able to enter At-attain undetected. It was also a kind of cloaking device
Also, for the Hermit Crab metaphor, keep in mind that the Coconut Crab (largest of their species), eventually grows larger enough that they no longer need an extra shell (there's no snail big enough anyhow) but are just enormous patient bad-asses. Hopefully this will one day be true for these kids. Maybe they will be at the Battle of Exegol.
the usual crowd hate this show too. they keep saying theyre done with starwars but they are still whinging. i wish theyd actually just f off like they promise.
I'm pretty sure that the pirate base is not a space station, rather simply the pirate frigate from the start of episode I. It would make sense that it has a hangar for starfighter and shuttles that could be used for boarding. Actually the hangar could also being used to full-on capture ships like the Star Destroyer did to the Tantive IV in ANH or how Han's Eravana does to the Falcon in TFA
Destroying the hull of the ship to escape the compactor thing reminds of when the Autobots blew up 3/4 of their ship in the animated Transformers movie (1986) to escape Galvatron and his reformatted minions
This may be a bit of a stretch, but the scenes of Fern and Neel climbing up the sewage drainage wall looked a lot like the scene from "The Faithful Wookie" cartoon in the Holiday Special of Chewbacca and Boba Fett climbing a sewage drainage wall -- similar angles and everything.
There is a very good story in "From a Certain Point of View (Star Wars)" which shows the trash compactor monster as a tragic, sympathetic victim of the Empire.
I think the outer shell was more of a disguise that the previous captain had put on it. Now that it's removed it, it's probably going to be tracked by someone looking for the "new" ship and will bring a new challenge to the crew.
I was hoping to spot a Great Heep in the junkyard with all the crabs, oh well, maybe some other time the Droids R2 chomping robot will make a come back.
That "pirate base" isn't an old medical station, it's actually the pirate crew's frigate. We see it docked at the Borgo asteroid base. It's just a tall ship, like Dryden Vos's "First Light."
I’ve been enjoying this show. Just brings me back to a younger self watching Muppet Treasure Island. I’m hoping for a Wim and Jod ending where Wim lets Jod escape and Jod tosses him the light saber.
The creator (Phil Tippett) of the momma crab (Tet'niss) discussed some of the easter eggs found upon the pile of junk on the crabs back. That could be a whole separate video by itself. The whole sequence was beautiful. 🥲

(And even then, the Empire wasn'tcompletely gone and was able to emerge in new ways)
The crabs also interestinly juxtapose the newly introduced Noti species found on Peridea in Ahsoka!
This show has been a delight to watch so far, I look forward to watching Episode 7 next week.
They're paid to disrupt.
Nice to have a good SW show again. Thanks for the breakdown.
That crossover was awesome!
What an awesome episode of Star Wars! Thanks for the breakdown.
This breakdown was on the money 💯 🔥
Thanks Ryan!
Great show!!
@14:22 what a beautiful explanation of the symbolism ❤ just love this show!
My fav ep so far loved the character development
Gotta love Space Tamatoa.
This was an excellent episode. I really hope this show sticks the landing!
The big crab reminded us of the big burger Mom in Cloudy 2!
Great job 😊
Really enjoying this show aswell
Destroying the hull of the ship to escape the compactor thing reminds of when the Autobots blew up 3/4 of their ship in the animated Transformers movie (1986) to escape Galvatron and his reformatted minions
AWESOME lil Neel 😂😂😂
This may be a bit of a stretch, but the scenes of Fern and Neel climbing up the sewage drainage wall looked a lot like the scene from "The Faithful Wookie" cartoon in the Holiday Special of Chewbacca and Boba Fett climbing a sewage drainage wall -- similar angles and everything.
There is a very good story in "From a Certain Point of View (Star Wars)" which shows the trash compactor monster as a tragic, sympathetic victim of the Empire.
i love yall"s relationship. most excellent!
I think the outer shell was more of a disguise that the previous captain had put on it. Now that it's removed it, it's probably going to be tracked by someone looking for the "new" ship and will bring a new challenge to the crew.
also likely why none of the pirates noticed such a "legendary" ship when it parked in the middle of their port.
I was hoping to spot a Great Heep in the junkyard with all the crabs, oh well, maybe some other time the Droids R2 chomping robot will make a come back.
The "Somehow Palpatine returns" clip is getting old.
It was old the moment Poe said it. That's the joke.
I think he only references it now to promote his tshirts with the slogan on it
That "pirate base" isn't an old medical station, it's actually the pirate crew's frigate.
(Dash) Renton was the character played by Ewan Macgregor in transporting also
KB is my favorite of the group by far, i couldn't handle this episode. Almost had a heart attack.
Amazing ep. The only complaint I have with this show is a few minor inconsistencies and the Eid really need to be longer, but FABULOUS!!!!
Great cut of Doug raising his eyebrows about AG1 lol
He's seen the Honey videos, and has a heightened sense of smell about things.
Terrific insights. Really well thought ot
The creator (Phil Tippett) of the momma crab (Tet'niss) discussed some of the easter eggs found upon the pile of junk on the crabs back.
That could be a whole separate video by itself. The whole sequence was beautiful. 🥲
Not gonna lie, the giant crab reminded me of Tamatoa from Moana
Ugh. Can we be real? If my name was Sebastian and I had a cool Jamaican accent, you'd totally help me. You would. You know you would.
You've mastered the shameless plug. And that little bit at the end had me dying
KB is possibly my favorite character in a while, Its nice to have heroes that aren't peak perfection, Sometimes (few disabilities myself internal) To someone else id come off as slow or lazy but I quite physically/mentally can't do a lot of things most people can.. Shes showing people its okay to have disabilities and to take it easy but we should be more vocal about our limitations and we shouldn't feel pressured by even our closest to push ourselves outside of comfort.. sometimes we just can't.
Please don’t start talking down on other recent Star Wars shows/stories. You give myself and others more reasons to enjoy the lore and that’s why I subscribe!
